        Observers of the corporate landscape are witnessing an increase in the variety and complexity of organization forms, many of which represent strategic alliances between organizations. for example. joint ventures, license agreements, research and development(R&D) partnerships. and so forth. These alliances result from strategic and operating moves by firms that have adapted to emerging opportunities as well as those that are repositioning themselves within existing industrial frameworks. This study is concerned with the mode decision of strategic alliance. Specifically, it is my contention that beyond the environmental, transaction-specific and firm-specific factors well established in the literature to affect the mode decision of strategic alliance. The purposes of this study are as follows; First, to arrange the various concepts of strategic alliance through literature review. Second, to examine the major factors related to mode of strategic alliance. Third, to analyze the determinants to affect the mode decision of straegic alliance. Fourth, to test the relation between alliance mode and performance. To test the hypothese, 75 Korean companies jointly allianced with foreign companies were surveyed. To test the hypotheses, reliability test, discriminant analysis and analysis of variance are used. The results of this study are as follows; First, in the relation of the firm-specific variable and alliance mode, strategic importance in parent's portfolio gives effect to the choice of alliance mode. Second, in the relation of the environmental variable and alliance mode, country risk, location unfamiliarity, demand uncertainty and intensity of competition give effect to the choice of alliance mode. Third, in the relation of the transaction-specific variable and alliance mode, opportunism give effect to the choice of alliance mode. Fourth, in the relation of the alliance mode and performance, reciprocally interdependent gives positive effect to satisfaction In conclusion, strategic importance in parent's portfolio, country risk, location unfamiliarity. demand uncertainty and intensity of competition and opportunism are found to affect the mode decision of strategic alliance on Korean firms.

        직접치수복조재에 따른 비글견 치수의 조직반응에 대한 연구

        본 연구에서는 인위적으로 노출시킨 비글견의 치수조직을 기존의 수산화칼슘제재와 MTA, 접착성 레진, 광중합형 수산화칼슘제재를 사용하여 직접치수복조한 후 각 재료에 따른 치수의 반응을 광학현미경 하에서 조직학적으로 관찰하여 비교분석하였다. 2마리 비글견의 36개 치아를 이용하여, 실험적으로 치수를 노출시키고 노출된 치수에 치수복조재를 적용한 후 와동은 복합레진으로 충전하여 직접치수복조술을 시행하였다: (1) Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA: ProRoot MTA, Dentsply, Tulsa, USA), (2) Clearfil SE Bond (Dentin adhesive system: Kuraray, Osaka, Japan), (3) Ultra-Blend (Photopolymerized Calcium hydroxide: Ultradent, South Jordan, USA), (4) Dycal (Quick setting Calcium hydroxide: LD Caulk Co., Milford, USA). 희생전 90일, 30일, 7일 전에 각 복조재별로 3개씩의 와동을 충전하였고 비글견을 희생시키고 조직시편을 제작하였다. 시편을 H&E 염색 후 광학 현미경으로 치수염증반응과 경조직 형성 정도를 관찰하였다. MTA 군은 초기에는 경조직 형성이 관찰되지 않고 치수조직의 위축과 부분괴사가 관찰되었으나 시간이 지나면서 경조직 형성이 관찰되었다. Clearfil SE Bond군은 초기에 염증세포의 침윤과 치수세포의 괴사를 관찰할 수 있었고 시간이 지날수록 치수 세포의 괴사가 더욱 진행한 양상을 보였다. Ultra-blend 군과 Dycal 군은 MTA 군과 비슷하게 초기에는 경조직 형성을 보이지 않고 중등도의 염증반응이 관찰되었으며 시간이 지나면서 경조직 형성이 관찰되었다. MTA, 수산화칼슘제재와 광중합 수산화칼슘제재는 초기의 치수염증반응 이후 조상아세포층, 상아질교 형성을 보여 직접치수복조재로 적당하였으며, 접착성 레진은 심한 염증반응과 치수 조직의 괴사 양상을 보여 직접치수복조재로 부적당하다는 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the pulp tissue reaction to direct pulp capping of mechanically exposed beagle dogs' pulp with several capping materials. A total of 36 teeth of 2 healthy beagle dongs were used. The mechanically exposed pulps were capped with one of the followings: (1) Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA: ProRoot MTA. Dentsply, Tulsa, USA), (2) Clearfil SE Bond (Dentin adhesive system: Kuraray, Osaka, Japan), (3) Ultra-Blend (Photo-polymerized Calcium hydroxide: Ultradent, South Jordan, USA), (4) Dycal (Quick setting Calcium hydroxide: LD Caulk Co., Milford, USA) at 7, 30, and 90 days before sacrificing. The cavities were restored with Z350 flowable composite resin (3M ESPE, St. Paul. MN, USA). After the beagle dogs were sacrificed, the extracted teeth were fixed, decalcified, prepared for histological examination and stained with HE stain. The pulpal tissue responses to direct pulp capping materials were assessed. In MTA calcium hydroxide, and photo-polymerized calcium hydroxide groups, initial mild inflammatory cell infiltration, newly formed odontoblast-like cell layer and hard tissue bridge formation were observed. Compared with dentin adhesive system, these materials were biocompatible and good for pulp tissue regeneration. In dentin adhesive system group, severe inflammatory cell infiltration, pulp tissue degeneration and pulp tissue necrosis were observed. It seemed evident that application of dentin adhesive system in direct pulp capping of beagle dog teeth cannot lead to acceptable repair of the pulp tissue with dentine bridge formation.

      • Life Science : Involvement of Heme Oxygenase-1 Induction in Inhibitory Effect of Ethyl Gallate Isolated from Galla Rhois on Nitric Oxide Production in RAW 264.7 Macrophages

        In the present study, we investigated an anti-inflammatory effect of ethyl gallate (EG) isolated from Galla Rhois as evaluated by inhibition of nitric oxide (NO) production and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression, and a potential role of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) in the inhibition of NO production elicited by EG. Treatment of RAW264.7 macrophages with EG significantly inhibited the production of NO and iNOS expression stimulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). We also demonstrated that EG treatment increased HO-1 mRNA and protein expression, as assessed by quantitative RT-PCR and Western blot analysis. EG treatment also increased the levels of nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2, which is critical for transcriptional induction of HO-1. In addition, treatment with SnPP (tin protoporphyrin IX), a selective HO-1 inhibitor, counteracted the inhibitoryeffect of EG on nitrite production, suggesting that HO-1 is, at least in part, implicated in the inhibition of NO production induced by EG treatment. Taken together, these results indicate that EG isolated from Galla Rhois suppresses NO production in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages via HO-1induction.

      • Adiponectin as an Anti-fibrotic and Anti-inflammatory Adipokine in the Liver

        Hepatic fibrosis is a dynamic process resulting from excessive deposition of extracellular matrix in the liver; uncontrolled progression of fibrosis can eventually lead to liver cirrhosis and/or hepatocellular carcinoma. The fibrogenic process is complex and modulated by a number of both hepatic and extra-hepatic biological factors. Growing evidence indicates that adipokines, a group of cytokines produced by adipose tissue, impart dynamic fibrosis. In particular, two key adipokines, adiponectin and leptin, directly regulate many biological responses closely associated with development and progression of hepatic fibrosis. Leptin acts as a pro-fibrogenic cytokine, while adiponectin possesses anti-fibrogenic and anti-inflamma-tory properties. Adiponectin, acting via its cognate recep-tors, adiponectin receptors 1 and 2, potently suppresses fibrosis and inflammation in liver via multiple mechanism. This review summarize recent findings concerning the role of adiponectin in fibrogenic process in liver and addresses the underlying molecular mechanisms in modu-lation of fibrosis.

        구강편평세포암종 환자에서의 혈액 점도와 혈액 변형성 변화에 대한 연구

        Malignant tumor have hypoxic cell fraction, which makes radio-resistant and hypoxia in tumor is a result from the blood flow decrease caused by increase in blood flow resistance. Blood viscosity increase is major factor of increased blood flow resistance and it could be attributed to the decrease in blood deformability index. For the evaluation of the change of blood viscosity and blood deformability in oral squamous cell carcinoma, we perform the test of the change of those factors between the normal control group and oral squamous cell carcinoma cell patient group. Relative viscosity measured against distilled water was 5.25±0.14 for normal control group, and 5.78±0.26 for the SCC patient group and there was statistical significance between the groups. However, there was no significant difference between the groups in blood viscosity between the groups by tumor size (T1+T2 vs T3+T4). Also, there was no significant difference between the normal control group and SCC patient group in blood deformability index and between the groups by tumor size (T1+T2 vs T3+T4). Increase in blood viscosity was confirmed with this study and it can be postulated that modification blood viscosity might contribute to decrease of hypoxia fraction in oral squamous cell carcinoma, thus improve the effect of radiotherapy and it can be assumed that the main factor of blood viscosity increase is not decrease of blood deformability in oral squamous cell carcinoma.

      • RE-06 : GnRH antagonist can reduce the expression of estrogen receptor α and HOXA10 mRNAs in murine endometrium, but these impact can be overcome by the addition of GnRH agonist

        We performed this study to investigate whether GnRH antagonist could affect endometrial receptivity and the addition of GnRH agonist could reverse the impact of GnRH antagonist. In female mice, superovulation was induced by standard protocol using pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG) and hCG. Female mice were divided into three groups. Group 1 was served as control group. In group 2, GnRH antagonist was injected concomitantly with PMSG. In group 3, GnRH antagonist was injected concomitantly with PMSG and GnRH agonist was added at the time of hCG injection. After hCG injection, the mice were mixed with fertile stud male mice and the copulation plug was checked in the next morning (day 1). Pregnant mice were sacrificed 4 days after hCG injection and their uteri were collected. Total RNA was isolated from endometrial tissue. Reverse transcription and Real-time PCR was performed. The expression of estrogen receptor (ER)α, ERβ, progesterone receptor (PR)α, PRβ, COX2, GnRH receptor (GnRHR)-1, leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) and HOXA10 mRNAs was analyzed by realtime RT-PCR. There were no significant differences in the relative amounts of PRα, PR β, COX2 and GnRHR-1 mRNAs among three groups. The relative amounts of ERβ and LIF mRNAs were significantly higher in group 1 (p<0.05, p<0.01). On the other hand, the expression of ERα and HOXA10 mRNAs were significantly lower in group 2 (p<0.05, p<0.005) GnRH antagonist can reduce the expression of ERα, ERβ, LIF and HOXA10 mRNAs in murine endometrium, but the addition of GnRH agonist can reverse the amounts of ERα and HOXA10 mRNAs.
