      • 유치원 교육에 대한 학부모 인식 조사 : 김천시내를 중심으로

        The purpose of this study was to examine parent's perception of education for kinde-rgarten's children, namely a necessity of cducation and education effect so on, and th-ereby define the problem situation to explore some reform measures which can improve the quality of education for young children and kindergarten management. To this end, a survey was conducted for 354 parents who have their children enrolled at the private kindergarten in Kimchun. This study can be concluded as follows: First, most parents perceive that kindergarten education is necessary and that the effect of kindergarten education is very great. Secondly, many parents feel that educational costs for kindergarten are high. Thirdly, to choose the kindergarten, many parents consider education contents and facilities of kidergarten. Fourthly, their parents want that children spend more than 4 hour in kindergarten. Fiſthly, most parents perceive that their children should be able to read and write the easy words or syllables before attending school.

      • 한부모가족 반편견교육의 모형 연구

        본 연구는 한국 사회 내 한부모가족이 증가함에 따른 한부모가족 반편견교육의 필요성을 이해하고 적절한 반편견교육의 모형을 제시하고자 진행되었다. 반편견교육이란 특정 영역에 대한 고정관념, 편견을 없애고 차이와 다양성 및 그 가치를 인정할 수 있는 능력을 함양 하는 데 목적이 있다. 국내에서는 자살예방 인식개선 교육, 다문화가족 교육 등과 같은 반편견교육이 시행되고 있으며, 한부모가족 반편견교육 역시 공교육의 장에서 시행될 필요가 있다. 체계적 사고의 관점에서 보았을 때, 우리는 한부모가족이 사회와 문화가 반영된 유기체적인 체계 속에 있음을 이해해야 한다. 그리고 이들이 체계 내에서 편견의 장벽을 넘어 창조적 역할을 발휘할 수 있도록하기 위해서는 체계의 변화가 필요하다. 한부모가족 반편견교육의 체계적 접근 모형은 체계의 구성요소인 개인과 대인관계, 사회문화, 제도에 대한 각각의 인식 개선에 대한 접근이 필요함을 보인다. This study is conducted to understand the necessity of the education of anti-bias for single parent family and suggest the proper educational model. Anti-bias education is to help people be more aware of bias and the stereotypes in the society and value diversity. Currently public schools provide anti-bias educations such as a suicidal prevention program and a multicultural family program. An anti-bias program for single parent family also needs to be conducted in the public education. In respect of the systematic thought, the single parent family should be understood in the organic system whose social and cultural factors are reflected. Also should be changed to have a sigle parent family surpass the barrier of bias and use their own creative ability. The education model of anti-bias for a single parent family represents the necessity of improving recognition of each componant of the systems containg person, personal relations, social culture, and institution.

        Lexical Bundles in the Argumentative Essays of Vietnamese and American Student Writers

        This study examines lexical bundles used in argumentative writings by Vietnamese EFL university students-L2 learners and American university students-L1 learners to see how two groups use bundles and identify problems which L2 learners face. Two corpora including writings by L2 and L1 learners are collected. By using Biber et al.’s structural taxonomy (1999, 2004) and Hyland’s functional framework (2008a), we analyse the structures and functions of the four-word bundles used by the two group writings to see any differences. Compared with L1 learners, L2 learners use a wider range of bundles. Regarding structures, L2 learners overuse VP-based bundles, while L1 learners use VP, NP and PP-based bundles flexibly. For functions, L1 learners prefer to use participant-oriented bundles, while L2 learners tend to employ researchoriented bundles. The text-oriented bundles are the least commonly occurring ones in the two groups’ essays. To understand how L2 learners overuse bundles in their writings, a qualitative method is used to examine each essay. Some underlying explanations for the overuse might be side effects of teaching and lack of knowledge of the bundle. A pedagogical implication of teaching L2 learners to use bundles in writing class is suggested to help their writing more convincingly and academically.

        What English Verb Errors do Korean University Students Make? A Corpus Examination of Learner-Produced Verb Phrases

        Parent, K. 2018. What English verb errors do Korean university students make? A corpus examination of learner-produced verb phrases. Korean Journal of English Language and Linguistics 18-4, 423-441. This article examines a corpus of writings by Korean university students with an eye towards the verb phrase patterns they use. Provided are a list of verb patterns which they do not use; ones they use but are not, or very rarely, found in writings produced by native speakers; ones they overuse; and ones they underuse. The results show particular problems with the passive voice and the perfect aspect, problems that are magnified when these two are combined. In terms of overuse, it reveals that the simpler verb patterns tend to be used much more frequently than would otherwise be expected. One-word verb phrases (do/did, has, is and lexical verbs like help), basic negative forms (do/did not have), basic modal phrases (can help, could not help) and others are overused. Underused verbs include, among others, various realisations of passive constructions and phrasal verbs. Pedagogical implications based on these results are discussed.

        A Developmental Pathway of Child Attachment Security through Maternal Characteristics

        영아기의 애착형성이 어머니의 특성에 따른 상호작용에 의해 안정애착 혹은 불안정 애착으로 발달된다는 이론이 널리 알려지면서 불안정 애착에 대한 예방과 치료중재의 필요성이 고취되어졌음에도 불구하고, 가장 결정적인 문제인 어머니의 어떤 특성들이 아동의 불안정애착 형성에 직접적인 영향을 미치는가에 대한 연구는 거의 전무한 실정이다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 어머니와 아동간의 세대간 애착순환을 재검증함과 동시에 어머니의 양육스트레스가 어머니-아동 불안정 애착전이를 예방 및 중재시킬 수 있는 매개변인이 되는지를 검증하고자 한다. 영아기 이후의 애착형성에 대한 이해를 확장시키기 위한 시도에서, 30개월에 달한 아동과 어머니 53쌍이 조사 관찰되어졌고, 이는 아동발달의 관점에서 이 아동들이 49개월에 달했을 때 다시 조사 관찰되어졌다. 아동양육과 관련된 어머니 특성들을 측정하기 위하여 the Attachment Style Questionnaire와 the Parental Stress Inventory를 사용하였고, 아동애착안정성을 측정하기 위하여 the Separation-Reunion Classifications (1차)와 the Attachment Q-set (2차)이 사용되어졌으며, 이를 분석하기 위해 Amos structural equation 통계분석법이 사용되었다. 이에 따른 본 연구결과는, 아동애착안정성은 어머니 애착유형과 유의미하게 관련되어 있다는 것을 증명하였고, 단 이러한 관계는 어머니 스트레스 형태를 통하여 전달 형성된다는 것을 입증하였다. 더욱이 본 연구는 어머니-아동 애착 형성의 순환에 있어서 직접적인 경로가 없다는 것을 밝혀 줌으로서, 세대간 불안정애착 유형 순환 붕괴의 가능성을 제시하였다. This research addressed the issue of how mothers` representations of attachment are transmitted to children, focusing on post-infancy attachment and on maternal stress as a mediator between mother`s attachment style and child attachment security. Fifty-three mother-child dyads participated in a lab visit when the children were 30 months (T1) and 49 months (T2) of age. The Attachment Style Questionnaire and the Parental Stress Inventory were used to measure mothers` characteristics; the Separation-Reunion procedure and classification at T1 and the Attachment Q-set at T2 were used to measure children`s attachment security. The models were analyzed by Analysis of Moment Structure Equation. Results confirmed evidence that no direct pathway exists between maternal attachment style and child attachment security : at T1 child attachment security formation was related to maternal stress, but there was no such relationship at T2.

        Lexical Primings of Metaphoric Senses: Polysemy in Context

        This article is a development of Hoey’s (2005) claim that each sense of a polysemic word behaves differently with regard to its collocations and colligations. If one sense used the primings of another, the result would be either humour or a change of meaning. This article, however, pinpoints an exception, which are polysemes with literal and metaphoric senses. A corpus-based case study of three such words, called lexical metaphors, presents strong evidence that the metaphoric senses of these lexemes are actually primed to inherit, rather than avoid, some of the contextual traits of the literal sense. This study examines the collocations and colligations of a polysemous noun (flavour), a verb (pepper) and an adjective (pregnant), using the British National Corpus for evidence.

        Morphological Knowledge in the Developing Second Language Mental Lexicon

        Learners of English must contend with the issues of affixation and word families. The use of affixes may greatly increase a learner’s vocabulary, but they may also produce lexical errors. This study examines the use of suffixed words in the free writings of Korean university students. It is found that while learners do employ a considerable number of suffixed words, the degree to which they do so is considerably less than is found in the writings of native speakers. This study also examines which suffixes learners use, finding that although some of them occur to degrees compatible with native speakers, several are severely underused. The study also examines learners’ novel attempts at using derivational suffixes; although the number of these is small, some patterns are noted. Finally, the distribution of individual sufffixed words by learners and native speakers is compared.
