        Feminist Initiatives in Legislation : A Perspective from India

        This paper discusses some of the issues emerging from the turn towards legislation within the contemporary women's movement in India. In order to contextualize the debated on legislative initiatives, the paper begins by tracking the earlier phases of the women's movement. It also elaborates on the manner in which everyday life struggles of women were politicized in each phase. the essay then goes on to focus on a specific legislative initiative-the Bill on Domestic Violence Against Women (Prevention), 1999 proposed by the group called Women's Rights Initiative. A critical evaluation of different aspects of this Bill is made, keeping in mind the complex realities of women's lives.

        Hierarchy of Shopping Experience at Indian Malls: A Conceptual Model using Interpretive Structural Modelling

        Purpose – The present study examines the interrelationship between various components constituting shopping experience in the context of the Indian shopping malls. Research design, data, and methodology – Extracting components of shopping experience from the literature review, the study used Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) to propose a conceptual model. The study adopted a mixed methods research involving theoretical constructs from past research, qualitative assessment of relationship between the constructs and imposing definite order and direction to qualitative relations based on mathematical computations. Results – Proposed model indicates that the five components of shopping experience (ambience, physical infrastructure, convenience, marketing focus and safety and security) do not converge directly into shopping experience. Rather, they operate following a hierarchy of influences in which marketing focus plays the role of the initiator. Conclusions – This model points at the order of preference of different components of shopping experience and can be a useful guide for retail industry, especially mall developers and supermarket/ hypermarket, may use the findings in key decisions about development of physical infrastructure, which are based on marketing focus.

        Thinning of 2D and 3D Fractal Antenna Arrays with Bounded and Unbounded Fractal Distribution Functions for Celestial Communications

        Fractal antenna arrays are geometry-based thinned arrays having multiband applications. The major challenge of these arrays is their large number of elements at higher expansion factors. This article presents the thinning of fractal antenna arrays while maintaining an appropriate balance between the side lobe level and beam width by using various quantized fractal distribution functions. A 2D square fractal antenna array and 3DSierpinski gasket antenna array are considered in this article to validate the proposed distribution functions. Nearly one third of the antenna elements are thinned in each successive iteration except in the case of a one-count distribution function. The proposed technique can simplify practical implementation and exhibits better performance for various parameters such as the side lobe level, side lobe angle, and half power beam width than fully populated fractal antenna arrays.
