      • Transcriptome-Based Modeling Reveals that Oxidative Stress Induces Modulation of the AtfA-Dependent Signaling Networks in <i>Aspergillus nidulans</i>

        Orosz, Erzsé,bet,Antal, Ká,roly,Gazdag, Zoltá,n,Szabó,, Zsuzsa,Han, Kap-Hoon,Yu, Jae-Hyuk,,csi, Istvá,n,Emri, Tamá,s Hindawi 2017 International journal of genomics Vol.2017 No.-

<P>To better understand the molecular functions of the master stress-response regulator AtfA in <I>Aspergillus nidulans</I>, transcriptomic analyses of the <I>atfA</I> null mutant and the appropriate control strains exposed to menadione sodium bisulfite- (MSB-), <I>t</I>-butylhydroperoxide- and diamide-induced oxidative stresses were performed. Several elements of oxidative stress response were differentially expressed. Many of them, including the downregulation of the mitotic cell cycle, as the MSB stress-specific upregulation of FeS cluster assembly and the MSB stress-specific downregulation of nitrate reduction, tricarboxylic acid cycle, and ER to Golgi vesicle-mediated transport, showed AtfA dependence. To elucidate the potential global regulatory role of AtfA governing expression of a high number of genes with very versatile biological functions, we devised a model based on the comprehensive transcriptomic data. Our model suggests that an important function of AtfA is to modulate the transduction of stress signals. Although it may regulate directly only a limited number of genes, these include elements of the signaling network, for example, members of the two-component signal transduction systems. AtfA acts in a stress-specific manner, which may increase further the number and diversity of AtfA-dependent genes. Our model sheds light on the versatility of the physiological functions of AtfA and its orthologs in fungi.</P>

Investigation of the Effects of Oat and Barley Feeding on Performance and Some Lipid Parameters in Table Ducks

        Orosz, Szilvia,Husveth, Ferenc,Vetesi, Margit,Kiss, Laszlo,Mezes, Miklos Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2007 Animal Bioscience Vol.20 No.7

The effects of barley and oat feeding in table duck were investigated. During a 49-day growing period a corn-based diet was supplemented by 45% barley and 45% oats (isonitrogenously and iso-energetically), respectively. Daily feed intake, FCR-, and weight gain were measured. Abdominal fat, liver, and gizzard weights were determined and dry matter, protein, fat content and fatty acid composition of femoro-tibial muscles and liver fat were measured on the $35^{th}$, $42^{nd}$ and $49^{th}$ days of age. Feeding 45% barley caused a decrease of growth rate ($p{\leq}0.05$) during the first 4 weeks, which was followed by a rapid, compensatory growth from the $6^{th}$ week of age ($p{\leq}0.05$). Both barley and oat supplementation increased protein ($p{\leq}0.05$), while decreasing fat ($p{\leq}0.05$) and dry matter ($p{\leq}0.05$) content of the liver. Feeding of 45% oats in the diet decreased the monounsaturated fatty acid ($p{\leq}0,05$) and increased the n-6 ($p{\leq}0,05$), n-3 ($p{\leq}0,05$) and total polyunsaturated ($p{\leq}0,05$) fatty acid content of the intramuscular fat owing to the high proportion of soluble non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) in the diet. This might be explained by the more pronounced decrease in digestibility of saturated than unsaturated fatty acids in birds fed a soluble NSP-enriched diet. This result might be caused by the "cage effect" of soluble NSP trapping the bile salts which are more important for the absorption of saturated than polyunsaturated fatty acids.

      • Performance Evaluation of Centralized IEEE802.11i-based Security Suites on Mobile WiFi Networks

        Peter Orosz,오용진,김제숭,Janos Sztrik,이석준 에스케이텔레콤 (주) 2007 Telecommunications Review Vol.17 No.6

In today’s mobile wireless networks beyond the high degree of mobility, secure user authentication, data privacy and integrity are among the most important demands of advanced WiFi systems with good reason. In view of growing user demands, roaming service becomes available on wireless networks in order to provide infrastructure for mobile IP telephony, video conference and multimedia streaming applications, etc.). Furthermore, private end-user data has to be protected by advanced security mechanisms that support roaming function. Accordingly, we are going to empiricaly investigate 802.11i-based security protocol suites (WPA, WPA2) in terms of performance and effectiveness in L2 roaming situations on both 802.11a and 802.11b/g systems. We separately focus on L2 roaming time, re-authentication performance of PEAP versions and encryption key exchange (TKIP, AES) and overall TCP dropout. Consequently, we intend to find a protocol combination that gives the best compromise between fast roaming time and security.

Dynamics and Congestion Control of Alternative TCP Variants on Asymmetric Lines

        Peter Orosz,Janos Sztrik,오영진,김제숭 한국경영공학회 2008 한국경영공학회지 Vol.13 No.3

A growing number of network computers are connected to the Internet through asymmetric connections such as ADSL, CableNet, Satellite link and other novel broadband solutions. However, the asymmetric nature of such connections may have significant impact on the performance of TCP transmission as upstream bandwidth can be easily overloaded. In this situation TCP's self-clocking mechanism may be misled whereas TCP ACK packets are delayed on the congested upstream link. It will result in degradation of TCP throughput. The purpose of the present letter is to show the effect of asymmetric physical lines on the dynamics of novel TCP variants based on our empirical measurement results. Therefore, we addressed the evaluation of alternative congestion control mechanisms.

KEPLER-1647B: THE LARGEST AND LONGEST-PERIOD<i>KEPLER</i>TRANSITING CIRCUMBINARY PLANET

        Kostov, Veselin B.,Orosz, Jerome A.,Welsh, William F.,Doyle, Laurance R.,Fabrycky, Daniel C.,Haghighipour, Nader,Quarles, Billy,Short, Donald R.,Cochran, William D.,Endl, Michael,Ford, Eric B.,Gregori American Astronomical Society 2016 The Astrophysical journal Vol.827 No.1

<P>We report the discovery of a new Kepler transiting circumbinary planet (CBP). This latest addition to the stillsmall family of CBPs defies the current trend of known short-period planets orbiting near the stability limit of binary stars. Unlike the previous discoveries, the planet revolving around the eclipsing binary system Kepler-1647 has a very long orbital period (similar to 1100 days) and was at conjunction only twice during the Kepler mission lifetime. Due to the singular configuration of the system, Kepler-1647b is not only the longest-period transiting CBP at the time of writing, but also one of the longest-period transiting planets. With a radius of 1.06 +/- 0.01 RJup, it is also the largest CBP to date. The planet produced three transits in the light curve of Kepler-1647 (one of them during an eclipse, creating a syzygy) and measurably perturbed the times of the stellar eclipses, allowing us to measure its mass, 1.52 +/- 0.65M(Jup). The planet revolves around an 11-day period eclipsing binary consisting of two solar-mass stars on a slightly inclined, mildly eccentric (e(bin) = 0.16), spin-synchronized orbit. Despite having an orbital period three times longer than Earth's, Kepler-1647b is in the conservative habitable zone of the binary star throughout its orbit.</P>

Minimally Invasive Posterior Facet Decortication and Fusion Using Navigated Robotic Guidance: Feasibility and Workflow Optimization

        Christopher R. Good,Lindsay D. Orosz,Ronald A. Lehman,Jeffrey L. Gum,Douglas Fox,Isador H. Lieberman 대한척추신경외과학회 2022 Neurospine Vol.19 No.3

Minimally invasive spine surgery reduces tissue dissection and retraction, decreasing the morbidity associated with traditional open spine surgery by decreasing blood loss, blood transfusion, complications, and pain. One of the key challenges with a minimally invasive approach is achieving consistent posterior fusion. Although advantageous in all fusion surgeries, solid posterior fusion is particularly important in spinal deformity, revisions, and fusions without anterior column support. A minimally invasive surgical approach accomplished without sacrificing the quality of the posterior fusion has the potential to decrease both short- and long-term complications compared to the traditional open techniques. Innovations in navigated and robotic-assisted spine surgery continue to address this need. In this article, we will outline the feasibility of achieving posterior facet fusion using the Mazor X Stealth Edition Robotic Guidance System.
