Effects of oral supplementation of either creatine or its analogue beta-guanidinopropionic acid (GPA) on muscular or whole-body work capacities and/or metabolic properties were studied in rats or human subjects. The high energy phosphate contents in skeletal muscles of both human and rats were increased by creatine supply, but those levels in rat muscles were lowered by feeding GPA.
Seropositive Myasthenia Gravis Associated with Small-Cell Lung Carcinoma

Background:Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome is well known to be a classical paraneoplastic syndrome of small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC). Three cases of seronegative myasthenia gravis (MG) and SCLC were previously reported. Case Report:A 65-year-old man developed a severe progressive respiratory failure with clinical features of MG. Tests showed a decremental response in the repetitive nerve stimulation test,abnormal single-fiber electromyography, and positive acetylcholine receptor antibody. SCLC was confirmed by the lung biopsy. Conclusions:This case represents the first case of seropositive MG and SCLC.

Pseudoscorpions are one of the common arthropod in soil mesofauna but are infrequently studied in East Asia. The fauna in South Korea is not adequate enough, and practical faunistic survey of pseudoscorpions have not been conducted in last 20 years. In this article, the current pseudoscorpion fauna in South Korea is reviewed, and the results of the survey in Chungcheongnam-do Province, the DNA barcoding (mitochondrial DNA cytochrome c oxidase I sequencing) and molecular phylogenetic analysis are shown. A total 64 specimens, including four species, Allochthonius (Allochthonius) buanensis, Bisetocreagris japonica, Bisetocreagris turkestanica (first record from South Korea), and Microbisium pygmaeum, were collected. The result of molecular phylogenetic analysis based on the cytochrome c oxidase I sequences (427 bp) implied the existence of a possible cryptic species within A. (A.) buanensis. Faunistic survey and DNA barcoding of South Korean species can greatly contribute to the understanding of East Asian pseudoscorpion systematics.
