Recently, design methods have been developed with fuzzy algorithm to drive the IM. Then, the design of optimal fuzzy controller needs much time and effort, since it is obtained through trial and error based on expert's knowledge. Therefore. we proposed a self-tuning technique of scale factors which could easily design the fuzzy speed controller. We designed the adaptive Fuzzy speed controller of an induction motor(IM) using the fuzzy algorithms which have a self-tuning algorithm. The proposed fuzzy speed control system was performed by using an IBM PC. Compared with conventional PI speed controller. the performances of proposed fuzzy controllers such as dynamic responses and the robustness against load disturbance were substantially improved.
치주질환에 있어서의 조직파괴인자 및 억제약물에 대한 연구

Arachidonic acid(AA) metabolites are known to play an important role in the development of inflammation and pathogenesis of periodontal disease. The bone resorbing activity of PGE_2 and elevated level of prostaglandins and thromboxane in inflamed gingiva, which are cyclooxygenase(C) products, has been well documented. However, since recent studies provide evidence that gingival tissue metabolizes AA mainly through lipoxygenase(L) pathway, we have started this study to show the exact profile of AA metabolism in gingival tissue. Fourteen individual periodontal pocket tissue(PPT) samples were obtained from patients with advanced periodontitis and incubated separately with ^14C-AA(0.2μCi). The tissue lipid extracts were separated by means of thin layer chromatography(TLC), and analyzed by means of autoradiography and TLC analyzer. Our work show that ^14C-AA metabolism in PPT is mainly via the L pathway(L products/C products=6.17) and that 12-HETE & 15-HETE(55.73% of total formed metabolites), to a lesser extent 5-HETE(6.21%), are the major L products formed. C products thromboxane B_2 (4.32%), 6-keto-PGF_1α & PGE_2 (4.42%) were also detected in much smaller amounts than L products. Indomethacin well-known C inhibitor, also inhibited L as well as C, that is the result similar to the reports of Paajanen et al.(1982) and Lessard et al.(1986). This phenomenon is being further investigated by use of partially purified L system.

Electric fans are electric home appliances widely used in summer season, and because its mechanical structure and how to handle is simple, the products of various size and structure has been produced. Every year, about 5% of the fire originated in electric home appliances have been originated in electric fan, and owing to this. It have brought a tremendous loss of buildings and human lives. As the cause of the fire in electric fan, there are layer short of fan motor coil, short of electric wire in service hole of fan motor by superheating of coil of fan motor, deterioration of condenser, short of electric wire of swing part of fan head, short of power source cord. In this study, we observed the wave shape of tracking of one of the prodrome before ignition by deterioration of condenser, and analysed their harmonics of current wave shape. As the result of this study, it is analysed that the current wave shape of normal operation of electric fan is different from the current wave shape of tracking, accordingly the magnitude of harmonics is different, and we expect available to development of protector of electric fan by use of difference of these harmonics.
유전알고리즘을 이용한 모델추종형 PID 제어기 설계에 관한 연구

The aim of this paper is to suggest a design method for the model following PID control system using genetic algorithm. A Genetic algorithm is used to optimize the coefficients of a PID controller. By applying this method to the DC servo motor, the simulation results indicate that the proposed method gives a good performance in tracking the reference model.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Ion exchange technology is the most effective and economical to remove heat stable salts (HSS) in CO<SUB>2</SUB> absorption processes. However, the disadvantage of high waste generation remains an unsolved problem. This study attempted to reduce the amount of waste generated during the Zr(OH)<SUB>5</SUB> <SUP>−</SUP> regeneration process through resource recovery by using ZrCl<SUB>4</SUB> coagulant, then recycling the recovered Zr(OH)<SUB>4</SUB> precipitate to produce Zr(OH)<SUB>5</SUB> <SUP>−</SUP> regenerant. The experimental results showed a waste coagulant efficiency of about 75%. The coagulation mechanism was suggested based on the conductivity and zeta potential analysis. The recovered Zr(OH)<SUB>4</SUB> had no differences in terms of chemical composition and regeneration efficiency, when compared with virgin material. These results indicate that the recovery and recycling of Zr(OH)<SUB>4</SUB> from the waste stream using ZrCl<SUB>4</SUB> as a coagulant reduced a large amount of the waste generated from the ion exchange process.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Reduction efficiency using ZrCl<SUB>4</SUB> coagulant from ion exchange waste is about 75.0%. </LI> <LI> Coagulation mechanism of four stages with respect to the coagulant dose is proposed. </LI> <LI> Recovery efficiency of hydroxide, as Zr(OH)<SUB>4</SUB>, from the waste is about 99.2%. </LI> <LI> The recovered Zr(OH)<SUB>4</SUB> has no difference in regeneration efficiency of virgin material. </LI> </UL> </P>

Receptor Binding Characteristics of Macrophage Inflammatory Protein-1α and -1β

We purified the recombinant murine MIP-1α(rmMIP-1α) and rmMIP-1β, and used the proteins to determine receptor-bearing cells and the binding properties and the relationship between MIP-1α and MIP-1β in the receptor binding properties. Direct receptor binding analysis using radioiodinated rmMIP-1α or -1β indicated a single class of high affinity binding site with a Kd of approximately 0.9-1.5×10^-9M and the presence of approximately 30-4000 binding sites per cell from cytolytic T cell, macrophage, myeloid stem cell, endothelial cell, helper T cell, bone marrow cell, splenocyte, and B cell. Competition binding assays indicated MIP-1α and -1β were able to recognize the common binding site. This is in good agreement with the results from biological function test. Results from cross-linking study and receptor blotting experiment demonstrated that binding molecule might be 30 KDa monomer or 60 KDa homodimer.
Path Tracking Control Using a Wavelet Based Fuzzy Neural Network for Mobile Robots

In this paper, we present a novel approach for the structure of Fuzzy Neural Network(FNN) based on wavelet function and apply this network structure to the solution of the tracking problem for mobile robots. Generally, the wavelet fuzzy model(WFM) has the advantage of the wavelet transform by constituting the fuzzy basis function(FBF) and the conclusion part to equalize the linear combination of FBF with the linear combination of wavelet functions. However, it is very difficult to identify the fuzzy rules and to tune the membership functions of the fuzzy reasoning mechanism. Neural networks, on the other hand, utilize their learning capability for automatic identification and tuning. Therefore, we design a wavelet based FNN structure(WFNN) that merges these advantages of neural network, fuzzy model and wavelet transform. The basic idea of our wavelet based FNN is to realize the process of fuzzy reasoning of wavelet fuzzy system by the structure of a neural network and to make the parameters of fuzzy reasoning be expressed by the connection weights of a neural network. And our network can automatically identify the fuzzy rules by modifying the connection weights of the networks via the gradient descent scheme. To verify the efficiency of our network structure, we evaluate the tracking performance for mobile robot and compare it with those of the FNN and the WFM.
Characterization of T-lymphocyte Specific cDNAs, L2G25B(MIP-1α) and L2G25C(MIP-1β)

T cell subset specific cDNAs. L2G25B(MIP-1α) and L2G25C(MIP-1β) were expressed by using bovine papilloma virus and baculovirus expression system. Both of recombinant proteins were biochemically immunologically and functionally identical to the native proteins. The transcripts of MIP-1α were inducible by LPS stimulation in murine macrophage cell line. MIP-1α mRNA also was expressed in murine bone marrow cells and spleen cells which was not increased by ferritin or lactoferrin stimulation. rMIP-1α induced proinflammatory cytokine IL-1β mRNA from human PMNs But MIP-1α mRNA was not inducible by PMA or IL-1β stimulated PMNs.
