Design of 1 kW high temperature PEM fuel cell system and performance analysis under different operating conditions

        Nazar Kashif,Jaffery Mujtaba Hussain,Shakir Imran,Nazar Atif,Raza Rizwan 한국물리학회 2022 Current Applied Physics Vol.40 No.-

This paper demonstrates the mathematical and MATLAB simulation model of 1 KW (28.8Vdc) PEM fuel cell system with boost convertor and RL load to analyze the yield behavior in accordance to control the hydrogen fuel utilization. Two cases have been designed to evaluate the performance of this model. In the first case, fuel cell parameters are examined with and without a fuel regulator that controls the hydrogen fuel rate while in the second case, the operating temperature of a fuel cell stack is varied to observe the impact on the system. PEM fuel cell based power systems can become an alternate choice in the transportation sector to overcome contamination concerns, especially in South Asia where the environmental issues are at peak. The purpose of this work is to introduce such environmentally friendly system of transportation in South Asia, especially in Pakistan and this stack model can be used as a prototype for developing FC based motorbike as currently no practical models have been tested in this region. Therefore, this model has unique advantages over the existing in the literature.

      • Religious Understanding Among the Youth of Kashmir Province- An overview

Nazar UI Islam Wani 부산대학교 한국민족문화연구소 2017 Localities Vol.7 No.-

Historically, Kashmir is unique in religious identity. It has both a record of assimilation and conflict in the past and current history. In this paper we found that youth of Kashmir are vulnerable to serious religious radicalization. The incessant appearance of Hijabs/head scarf and long beards and even with little murmuring of Award, the couplets which once Shah-i-Hamadan allowed to be chanted, are not only blurring and disappearing but seen through the prism of suspicion, mostly an innovation (biddah), by the puritan Islamic ideologies. The survey reflects that such an imagination has laid its roots in the valley. We also found that Kashmir has retained the assimilation power even after the trauma of conflict. We went through history, a survey sampling, interviews and discussions conducted in various colleges and schools of the valley from 2011 up to 2016.

Influence of bed joint orientation on interlocking grouted stabilised mud-flyash brick masonry under cyclic compressive loading

        Nazar, Maqsud E.,Sinha, S.N. Techno-Press 2006 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.24 No.5

This paper describes a series of laboratory tests carried out to evaluate the influence of bed joint orientation on interlocking grouted stabilised mud-flyash brick masonry under uniaxial cyclic compressive loading. Five cases of loading at $0^{\circ}$, $22.5^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $67.5^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$ with the bed joints were considered. The brick units and masonry system developed by Prof. S.N. Sinha were used in present investigation. Eighteen specimens of size $500mm{\times}100mm{\times}700mm$ and twenty seven specimens of size $500mm{\times}100mm{\times}500mm$ were tested. The envelope stress-strain curve, common point curve and stability point curve were established for all five cases of loading with respect to bed joints. A general analytical expression is proposed for these curves which fit reasonably well with the experimental data. Also, the stability point curve has been used to define the permissible stress level in the brick masonry.

      • Poster Session : PS 0063 ; Cardiology : Association of Framingham Risk Score with Serum Concentration of Urea and Creatinine

( Nazar Mohd Zabadi Mohd Azahar ),( Ambigga Krishnapillai ),( Adibah Hanum Sahari ),( Khalid Yusoff ) 대한내과학회 2014 대한내과학회 추계학술대회 Vol.2014 No.1

Background: Individuals with chronic kidney disease experience higher mortality and adverse cardiovascular event rates. This study will describe the association between serum urea and creatinine level with different groups of Framingham Risk Score. Methods: Respondents who met the inclusion criteria and gave consent to participate will be recruited. This cross sectional study was conducted in Raub, Malaysia between July 2010 and June 2011. Blood pressure was measured twice and the average was recorded. Venous blood samples were taken for Fasting Serum Lipid, Fasting Blood Glucose and for the determination of urea and creatinine concentration. Results: There were 480 respondents recruited in this study with 42.5% of respondents were males (mean age±SD, 59±10.2 years). Urea concentration was found significantly higher in males (4.8±1.84 mmol/L) compared to females (4.2±1.77 mmol/L) (p<0.001). Creatinine concentration was found signifi cantly higher in males (88±31.45 mmol/L) compared to females (63.6±22.38 mmol/L) (p<0.001). Bivariate correlations found that age was significantly correlated with urea (r= 0.255, p<0.001) and creatinine (r=0.233, p<0.001) of the respondents. One way between groups analysis revealed that mean concentration of urea was signifi cantly highest in the high risk group, followed by moderate and low risk group of the Framingham Risk Score (F(2,438)=13.622, p<0.001). Creatinine concentration also was found signifi cantly highest in the high risk group followed by moderate and low risk group (F(2,438)=38.348, p<0.001). Conclusions: Serum urea and creatinine level were signifi cantly highest among the high risk for CVD group. Increasing public health awareness and aggressive lifestyle modifi cation programmes are essential in combating this serious health problem.

Review : Probiotic Therapy of the Irritable Bowel Syndrome: Why Is the Evidence Still Poor and What Can Be Done About It?

( Nazar Mazurak ),( Ellen Broelz ),( Martin Storr ),( Paul Enck ) 대한소화기기능성질환·운동학회(구 대한소화관운동학회) 2015 Journal of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (JNM Vol.21 No.4

Background/Aims Despite numerous randomized clinical trials and meta-analyses, there is no increased evidence for the efficacy of probiotics in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). We review this evidence, identify and analyse the reasons for this lack of evidence and propose methodological improvements for future studies. Methods Based on a literature search, we identified 56 papers that matched the purpose of our analyses. Twenty-seven studies used multi-species bacterial preparations and 29 used single-strain probiotics. They were analysed regarding patients included, treatment duration, probiotic dosage, and outcome measures. Results Trials in both groups suffered from heterogeneity with respect to probiotic concentration, duration of treatment, and other methodological issues (crossover design and underpowered studies). This heterogeneity did not allow the application of a meta-analytic approach and a systematic review was therefore performed instead. Multi-strain preparations combined 2 to 8 different bacterial subspecies, mostly lactobacilli or bifidobacteria, and used variable lengths of treatments. Overall, more than 50% of trials presented negative outcomes. The majority of the single-strain probiotic trials employing lactobacilli or Saccharomyces were negative, whereas trials employing bifidobacteria showed positive results. Conclusions The heterogeneity of the studies of probiotics in IBS questions the value of meta-analyses. The use of different bacterial strains and different mixtures of these strains, as well as different dosages, are the main contributors to this heterogeneity. Current data provides limited evidence for the efficacy of a small number of single-strain probiotics in IBS (mostly bifidobacteria) and sound studies following strict trial guidelines (Food and Drug Administration and European Medicines Agency guidelines forclinical trials) are needed. We summarised and proposed some methodological issues for future studies in the field.(J Neurogastroenterol Motil 2015;21:471-485)

The Influence of Corporate Governance on Dividend Decisions of Listed Firms: Evidence from Sri Lanka

NAZAR, Mohamed Cassim Abdul Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.2

This study investigates the role of corporate governance in the dividend decision of 198 non-financial companies listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange of Sri Lanka, over the period from 2009 to 2016. Four corporate governance indicators are used in this study; managerial ownership, the board size, board independence, and CEO duality. Furthermore, this study considers three control variables such as profitability, firm size, and corporate tax. This study employed the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) model to estimate the regression models on panel data study. The major contribution of this study is exploring the insight into the effect of corporate governance factors on dividend decisions. The results of the study revealed that managerial ownership showed a significant positive impact on the dividend payout ratio. Board size showed a significant positive influence on the dividend payout ratio. Board independence negatively but significantly influenced the dividend payout ratio. CEO duality showed an insignificant negative impact on the dividend payout ratio. In the framework of these CG indicators, Sri Lankan listed firms are recommended to have dispersed ownerships, large Board size and maintain a balance of power and authority by separating the individual who is assuming the position of the CEO from the Chairperson of the Board and maintain at least two independent directors.

Enhancing feature selection with GMSMFO: A global optimization algorithm for machine learning with application to intrusion detection

        Hussein Nazar K,Qaraad Mohammed,Amjad Souad,Farag M.A.,Hassan Saima,Mirjalili Seyedali,Elhosseini Mostafa A 한국CDE학회 2023 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.10 No.4

The paper addresses the limitations of the Moth-Flame Optimization (MFO) algorithm, a meta-heuristic used to solve optimization problems. The MFO algorithm, which employs moths' transverse orientation navigation technique, has been used to generate solutions for such problems. However, the performance of MFO is dependent on the flame production and spiral search components, and the search mechanism could still be improved concerning the diversity of flames and the moths' ability to find solutions. The authors propose a revised version called GMSMFO, which uses a Novel Gaussian mutation mechanism and shrink MFO to enhance population diversity and balance exploration and exploitation capabilities. The study evaluates the performance of GMSMFO using the CEC 2017 benchmark and 20 datasets, including a high-dimensional intrusion detection system dataset. The proposed algorithm is compared to other advanced metaheuristics, and its performance is evaluated using statistical tests such as Friedman and Wilcoxon rank-sum. The study shows that GMSMFO is highly competitive and frequently superior to other algorithms. It can identify the ideal feature subset, improving classification accuracy and reducing the number of features used. The main contribution of this research paper includes the improvement of the exploration/exploitation balance and the expansion of the local search. The ranging controller and Gaussian mutation enhance navigation and diversity. The research paper compares GMSMFO with traditional and advanced metaheuristic algorithms on 29 benchmarks and its application to binary feature selection on 20 benchmarks, including intrusion detection systems. The statistical tests (Wilcoxon rank-sum and Friedman) evaluate the performance of GMSMFO compared to other algorithms. The algorithm source code is available at https://github.com/MohammedQaraad/GMSMFO-algorithm.
