P63 is a gene product required in cell cycle regulation which plays vital roles in tumor differentiation. Aims of the present study were to assess the frequency, pattern, sensitivity and specificity of two p63 protein clones P63 4A4 and P63 4A4+Y4A3 in squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs). Thirty cases of head and neck region SCC diagnosed on the basis of H&E staining were examined along with 60 cases of head and neck region biopsies other than squamous cell carcinoma, negative on H&E staining, were taken as control. Immunostaining was performed on slides according to the Thermo Scientific UltraVision LP detection System. P63 4A4+Y4A3 clone is more sensitive 96.6% in comparison to 86% in P63 4A4 with having greater NPV of 98.3%. The results signify the importance of P63 4A4+Y4A3 marker over the old markers and may be used as a confirmatory marker of squamous cell carcinoma.

The present study deals with the effect of uniform and non-uniform local corrosion damages at the bearing stiffener andnearby web on the bearing capacity of plate girder. Five plate girder ends simulated with different uniform and non-uniformtypes of corrosion damage, at the base of the bearing stiffener are used in the experimental program. The experimental resultsare modeled and verified on a Finite Element (FE) software ABAQUS, considering shell-solid coupling elements formulation. The study is further extended to various damage cases i.e., stiffener damage, stiffer plus web damages etc. considering differentdamage heights and residual thicknesses. The study concludes that minimum thickness within any damage height may be usedto simulate the corrosion damage in a FE analysis. At the end, some empirical relationships are also proposed to estimate thebearing strength of the plate girder affected by the local corrosion damage at plate girder end.

An all printed resistive memory device, a 9-bit memristor, has been presented in this study consisting of 3 x 3 memristor crossbars deposited via electrohydrodynamic inkjet printing process at room conditions. Transparent zinc oxide active nano-layers, directly deposited by electrospray process, are sandwiched between the crossbars to complete the metaleinsulator metal structure consisting of copper ezinc oxideesilver, where Cu and Ag are used as bottom and top electrodes respectively. The 9-bit memristor device has been characterized using currentevoltage measurements to investigate the resistive switching phenomenon thereby confirming the memristive pinched hysteresis behavior signifying the readewrite and memory characteristics. The memristor device showed a current bistability due to the existence of metaleoxide layer which gives rise to oxygen vacancies upon receiving the positive voltage hence breaking down into doped and un-doped regions and a charge transfer takes place. The maximum ON/OFF ratio of the current bi-stability for the fabricated memristor was as large as 1 x 103, and the endurance of ON/OFF switchings was verified for 500 readewrite cycles. The metale insulatoremetal structure has been characterized using X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and scanning electron microscope techniques.

Allium species are considered to be one of the world’soldest cultivated vegetables. Most commonly used species ofgarlic in Pakistan and India is Allium sativum, while Alliumtuberosum is mainly consumed and cultivated in China, SoutheastAsia, and North-east part of India. The present study wasconducted to compare the antimicrobial activity, nutritional valueand antioxidant profile of Allium sativum and Allium tuberosum. The outcome indicates that Allium tuberosum have slightly higherantimicrobial activity, higher mineral profile, and enriched inantioxidants in comparison with Allium sativum. The highestantimicrobial activity of Allium tuberosum was noticed againstStaphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis with 43.9 and 40.7mm zone of inhibition using 100% extract. Allium tuberosumcontains high contents of calcium (28.662±.00mg/100 g), potassium(10.62±0.50) and zinc (59.00±1.00). Allium tuberosum alsoshowed higher antioxidant activity (0.24±0.03 mg vitamin Cequivalent (VCE)/g fresh weight in ferric reducing antioxidantpower assay, 0.18±0.02 mg VCE/g fresh weight in 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl assay and 1.09±0.12 mg VCE/g fresh weight in2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) assay) incomparison with Allium sativum.

Aims: The objective of our study was to assess the impact of anemia on HE grade at presentation. Methods: Consecutive patients of HE admitted in the medical wards of Mayo Hospital, Lahore during March 2010 and May 2010 were enrolled in the study. HE grade at presentation was assessed by using West-Haven Criteria. Complete blood count, bleeding profile, liver function tests and ultrasound was done in emergency at presentation. Anemia was defined as hemoglobin level less than 12 g/dl. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis was done to assess the impact of anemia on hepatic encephalopathy grade at presentation. P value <0.05 was considered significant. Results: 61 patients were included in the study. 20% patients were in grade 1 HE; 20% in grade 2; 39% in grade 3; and 21% in grade 4 HE. Advanced grade HE was defined as HE grade >2. On univariate analysis prothrombin time >15 seconds, diabetes, esophageal varices on endoscopy, and anemia were significant predictors of advanced grade HE (p values: 0.048, 0.048, 0.039, 0.037). Hypoalbuminemia was less common in advanced grade HE patients (p, 0.004). Child Pugh Score and MELD Score had no relation with HE grade at presentation. All the significant factors in univariate analysis were included in the multivariate logistic regression model. Only anemia was significant predictor of advanced grade HE in multivariate analysis (p, 0.018). Conclusions: Sixty percent of HE patients present with advanced grade. Anemia is associated with advanced HE grade at presentation.

Nauman Khurram,Eiichi Sasaki,Hiroshi Katsuchi,Hitoshi Yamada 한국강구조학회 2013 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.13 No.4
This study discusses the effect of local corrosion damages nearby the bearing region including the bearing stiffener andadjacent web damage on the ultimate shear and post-buckling strength of steel plate girder bridges. A computer packageABAQUS is utilized for the verification and extension of the numerical study. Various corrosion damage cases, specifically thebearing stiffener are studied considering different damage thickness and damage heights. The study concludes that local damageon bearing stiffener damage is more fatal than the local web damage for the shear resistance of the plate girder. Further, someempirical relationships are also derived to assess the residual shear capacity of the locally corroded plate girder at the bearingregion.
PE-107: Hyponatremia in Decompens ated Cirrhosis: Is It Associated with More Severe Disease?
( Nauman Arif Jadoon ),( Zeeshan Butt ),( Ahmed Shahzad ),( Kamran Mushtaq ) 대한간학회 2016 춘·추계 학술대회 (KASL) Vol.2016 No.1
Aims: The aim of our study was to evaluate whether there is any association between hyponatremia and severity of decompensated cirrhosis. Methods: Consecutive patients of decompensated cirrhosis presenting at three tertiary care hospitals were included in the study. Hyponatremia was defined as serum sodium levels of <135 mEq/L. Patients with Child-Pugh Class A and B were considered having mild disease and Class C patients were categorized as having severe disease. Results: A total of 202 patients were included in the study with male preponderance (53%). Patients presenting with Child-Pugh Class A, B and C were 16 (6.9%), 74 (36.6%) and 114 (56.4%) respectively. Hyponatremia was present in 37.3% of the patients. On bivariate analysis, factors associated with severe decompensated cirrhosis (Child-Pugh Class C) were total protein <6 g/dL (p, 0.002), hemoglobin level <12 g/dL (p, 0.006), APTT >35 seconds (p <0.001), AST >35 IU (p, 0.03) and serum sodium level <135 mEq/L. Thrombocytopenia, raised blood urea, raised serum creatinine, and hyperkalemia were not associated with severity of decompensated cirrhosis as was the etiology of cirrhosis (Hepatitis C versus non-hepatisis C). Variables significant in the bivariate analysis were then included in the multivariate logistic regression model. All the variables remained significant except anemia which did not show any association with severity of disease in multivariate analysis. Conclusions: One third of the patients with decompensated cirrhosis in the present study had hyponatremia which was associated with less severe disease (lower Child-Pugh Class) at presentation.
Groundwater contaminant boundary input flux estimation in a two-dimensional aquifer
Nauman Malik Muhammada,Kyung-Youn Kim,Cheng-Hung Huang,Sin Kim 한국공업화학회 2010 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.16 No.1
The present study considers the estimation of groundwater input contaminant flux and its transient distribution in a hypothetical two-dimensional aquifer. The paper proposes Kalman filter with recursive least square algorithm (RLSA) technique for the inverse estimation problem. Numerical simulation results reveal that the proposed estimator has outstanding estimation performance both for smooth and abruptly varying input flux. The study further takes into account the dependence of the RLSA technique on the process noise. Selected input scenarios are examined to count for the effect of measurement sensor arrangement and RLSA shows more improved results when sensors number is increased and they are placed closer to the supposed input location.
