User context conjecture system using location and schedule information

In recent years, with the spread of communication media, such as a cellular phone and E-mail, we are able to communicate with others without any restriction of position or time. However, complexity of communicative context has increased so that user has to guess a partner user``s situation and status in order to use various medias efficiently. This problem will grow larger as new media are brought in the expanding communications network. To solve this problem, we propose the system that guesses the context in communication by a user``s media from the position information on PHS (Personal Handy phone System) and schedule information from schedule application. In this system a user``s agent guesses automatically the context that owner has set, and answers the demand of the context from a partner user. Moreover, the agent decides a suitable answer, when there is a demand of communication by the media, which cannot be used.
User adaptive media selection based on agent communication

By spread of Internet, we become to use several of communication such as email, ICQ, VoIP etc. But as become convenient to use, user must be aware of variety of information regarding the media and partner user. The forecast is that this problem grows larger and larger as new media are brought in the expanding communications network. In this research, we suggest an agent MIA (Media Integration Agent) that manages the information instead of user. The MIA is an agent that obtains situation of user, and dynamically exchanged addresses and tendency of using medias in form of vCard. By use of this, user can choose better communication media. Accordingly seamless communication environment that user doesn`t have to be aware of various information is formed.
Prototype System Of The Electronic Bulletin Board Integrated Management System

Various electronic bulletin board systems (BBS) exist on the Internet. A user has to use two or more BBS. Because his/her interests may not be restricted to only one subject and BBS satisfying hislher interests may not be restricted to only one also. Furthermore, in each BBS, two or more subjects are parallel discussed while the newest contribution is always carried out. Therefore, when a user tries to keep on perusing about a specific subject, it is necessary for the user to remember in which BBS the subject exists and in the past what article of the subject was read. In this paper, we are aiming to construct an electronic bulletin board integrated management system. In this system, a user is able to use two or more BBS just like one BBS. In this paper, we present a framework of the electronic bulletin board integrated management system and implementation of a prototype system.

In the present study, we prepared a newly adsorbent, Iron–Magnesium-type hydrotalcite (FHT), at different molar ratios (FHT3.0; Mg2+/Fe3+ = 3.0 and FHT5.0; Mg2+/Fe3+ = 5.0) for removing heavy metal ions. Characteristics of FHT and arsenite (As(III)) and hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) adsorption capability onto that were evaluated. Amount adsorbed of As(III) and Cr(VI) increased with raising temperatures. Amount adsorbed of heavy metal ions onto FHT in the single liquid phase was smaller than that in the mixed liquid phase, which suggests that the amount adsorbed was affected by the adsorbent properties, interlayer space, and solution pH.
Genetic association of swine leukocyte antigen class II haplotypes and body weight in Microminipigs

Objective: Microminipigs are a novel animal model with extensive applications in laboratory studies owing, in part, to their extremely small body sizes. In this study, the relationship between swine leukocyte antigen (SLA) class II haplotype and body weight was evaluated in the Microminipig population. Methods: A total of 1,900 haplotypes, covering SLA class II haplotypes Lr-0.7, Lr-0.23, Lr-0.17, Lr-0.37, Lr-0.16, Lr-0.11, Lr-0.13, and Lr-0.18, were analyzed in 950 piglets. Birth weights and weights on postnatal day 50 were examined in piglets with eight different SLA class II haplotypes. Results: The mean birth weight of piglets with the Lr-0.23 haplotype (0.415 kg, n = 702) was significantly lower than that of piglets with Lr-0.17 (0.445 kg, n = 328) and Lr-0.37 (0.438 kg, n = 383) haplotypes. At postnatal day 50, the mean body weight of piglets with the Lr-0.23 haplotype (3.14 kg) was significantly lower than that of piglets with the Lr-0.13 haplotype (3.46 kg, p<0.01). There were no significant differences in daily gains (DGs) among the eight haplotypes. However, piglets with the Lr-0.11 and -0.18 haplotype combination or any heterozygous haplotype combinations containing Lr-0.23 had significantly lower DGs than those of piglets with the Lr-0.18, 0.37 haplotype combination. Conclusion: Piglets with the Lr-0.23 haplotype had relatively low body weights at birth and on postnatal day 50 and slightly lower DGs than those of piglets with other haplotypes. Therefore, the Lr-0.23 SLA class II haplotype may be a suitable marker for the selective breeding of Microminipigs with small body sizes.

Mechanisms that regulate the number of cells that constitute the body have remained largely elusive. We approached this issue in the ascidian, Halocynthia roretzi, which develops into tadpole larva with small number of cells. Embryonic cells divide 11 times on average from fertilization to hatching. The number of cell division rounds varies between tissue types. For example, notochord cells divide 9 times and give rise to large postmitotic cells in the tadpole. The number of cell division rounds in the partial embryos that were derived from tissue-precursor blastomeres isolated at the 64-cell stage also varied between tissues, and coincided with their counterparts in the intact whole embryos to some extent, suggesting tissueautonomous regulation of cell division. Manipulation of cell fates in notochord, nerve cord, muscle, and mesenchyme lineage cells by inhibition or ectopic activation of the inductive FGF signal changed the number of cell division according to the altered fate. Knockdown and missexpression of Brachyury (Bra), an FGF-induced notochord-specific key transcription factor for notochord differentiation, indicated that Bra is responsible not only for notochord differentiation but also regulates the number of cell division rounds in the notochord lineage cells, suggesting that Bra activates a putative machinery to stop cell division at the specific stage. Results of precocious expression of Bra suggested that the machinery refers the developmental clock that is likely shared in other blastomeres than notochord, and functions to terminate cell division at three rounds after the 64-cell stage. Bra does nothing about the progression of developmental clock itself.

We investigated the simultaneous removal of phosphate and nitrite ions from aqueous solutions by acombination treatment that used both PG-Ca (poly-g-glutamic acid combined with flocculating agents)and SB600 (soybeans treated with calcium chloride, hydrochloric acid and calcined at 600 8C). Phosphateions and nitrite ions were selectivity adsorbed by PG-Ca and SB600, respectively. The removalmechanism of phosphate ions from aqueous solution was related to the presence of calcium hydroxide(derived from PG-Ca), and that of nitrite ions was related to the presence of chloride ions at the surface ofSB600.

Nickel hydroxide (Ni) was calcined at 270 and 400 8C (denoted Ni270 and Ni400), and the properties ofNi, Ni270, and Ni400 were investigated. In addition, the phosphate adsorption capabilities of Ni, Ni270,and Ni400 were evaluated by examination of the effects of contact time and solution pH, analysis of anadsorption isotherm, and study of desorption. The amounts of phosphate ion adsorbed by the differentsamples showed the order Ni < Ni400 < Ni270. Finally, phosphate ions adsorbed onto Ni270 could bedesorbed using sodium hydroxide, indicating that Ni270 can be used as a renewable adsorbent.
