To reuse discharge water in large building, pilot - plant study was conducted experimentally, and the results were as follows ; 1. pH in effluent was lower than it in influent, because organisms was decomposed by microorganisms in filtration tower. Since CO₂ gas was generated, dissolved in water, and then converted into carbonic acid, pH seemed to be influenced. 2. The initial concentrations of COD, BOD and SS were unstable but stable with time. If full - scale plant did unusually operate for a long time, when did pilot - plant, it was known that COD was somewhat influenced but BOD & SS were almost not influences. 3. The production cost of reuse was about 256won/ton. If this subject of study were compared with Pusan, water supply & sewage fee would be 500 - 890won/ton. Therefore, when discharge water is reused to a water closet, there would be no problem at all. 4. If about 50% of wastewater will be reused from daily average generated volume, average 700,000won will be saved monthly. On the other hand, economically a additional tax exemption could be expected there from, and it's more economical. In case of D. University, it's estimated that reuse will be accomodated.

초임계 이산화탄소를 포함한 N,N-Dibutylformamide(N,N-DBFA)계에 대한 이성분계 상평형 데이터를 얻기 위해 실험을 행하였다. CO_2 / N,N-DBFA의 이성분계 압력-조성관계를 온도 318.2K, 338.2K, 358.2K, 378.2K 그리고 398.2K와 압력 2.45∼22.67 MPa 범위에서 얻었다. 일정 압력에서 N,N-DBFA에 대한 이산화탄소의 용해도는 온도가 증가함에 따라 감소함을 알 수 있으며, 또한 혼합물 임계점 압력은 온도가 증가함에 따라 증가하였다. 순수성분 이산화탄소와 N,N-DBFA에 대해 증기압을 서로 연결하는 혼합물 임계곡선을 계산하였다. 본 연구에서 실험한 자료를 Peng-Robinson 상태방정식으로 모델링하였으며, Peng-Robinson 상태방정식에서 온도에 독립적인 두 개의 파라미터를 이용하여 계산한 계산치와 실험치를 비교한 결과 좋은 일치를 보였다. The high pressure binary phase equilibria data were obtained for N,N-Dibutylformamide(N,N-DBFA) with supercritical carbon dioxide. Pressure-conposition isotherms were obtained for CO_2 / N,N-DBFA system at the temperatures of 318.2K, 338.2K, 358.2K, 378.2K and 398.2K and pressures of 2.45 to 22.67 MPa. The solubility of carbon dioxide in N,N-DBFA decreased as the temperature increased at a constant pressure. The pressure at critical points of the mixture increased as the temperature increased. At a nominal pressure, the curve of critical points for the mixture exhibited a maximum at temperatures between the critical temperatures of CO_2 / N,N-DBFA system. The experimental results obtained in this study were modeled using the Peng-Robinson equation of state. A good fit of the data were obtained with the Peng-Robinson equation using two adjustable mixture parameters for CO_2 / N,N-DBFA system.

<P>This paper proposes a black-box model-based design method for a transient electromagnetic (EM) and thermal (TM) problem, where EM and TM material properties are strongly coupled with each other. For a practical and efficient black-box modeling, the Kriging method is combined with a hyper-cubic local window and design sensitivity values extracted from surrogate models are exploited to obtain an optimum. Such unique design scheme facilitates controlling EM and TM performances simultaneously. In addition, it can reduce the number of design iterations during the optimization process drastically. The proposed method is tested for a strongly coupled induction heating system where the design goal is to achieve a uniform temperature distribution on the surface of a metal workpiece within a given heating time duration.</P>

It has been found that 4-isopropyl-2,6-bis(1-phenylethyl)phenol (KTH-13), a novel compound isolated from Cordyceps bassiana, is able to suppress tumor cell proliferation by inducing apoptosis. To mass-produce this compound, we established a total synthesis method. Using those conditions, we further synthesized various analogs with structural similarity to KTH-13. In this study, we aimed to test their anti-cancer activity by measuring anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic activities. Of 8 compounds tested, 4-methyl-2,6-bis(1-phenylethyl)phenol (KTH-13-Me) exhibited the strongest anti-proliferative activity toward MDA-MB 231 cells. KTH-13-Me also similarly suppressed the survival of various cancer cell lines, including C6 glioma, HCT-15, and LoVo cells. Treatment of KTH-13-Me induced several apoptotic signs in C6 glioma cells, such as morphological changes, induction of apoptotic bodies, and nuclear fragmentation and chromatin condensation. Concordantly, early-apoptotic cells were also identified by staining with FITC-Annexin V/PI. Moreover, KTH-13-Me highly enhanced the activation of caspase-3 and caspase-9, and decreased the protein level of Bcl-2. In addition, the phosphorylation levels of Src and STAT3 were diminished in KTH-13-Me-treated C6 cells. Therefore, these results suggest that KTH-13-Me can be developed as a novel anti-cancer drug capable of blocking proliferation, inducing apoptosis, and blocking cell survival signaling in cancer cells.

<P>This paper presents a generalized continuum design sensitivity formula that is applicable to any shape design problems of high-frequency devices in frequency domain. The derived sensitivity formula is expressed in terms of surface integrals over a part of the interface between different materials and of the conducting boundary undergoing shape modification during iterative design process. Using the proposed approach, it is easy to deal with the shape optimization concerning conducting surfaces as well as dielectric contours. The method has been successfully applied to the optimization of high-frequency waveguides where the numerical implementation is thoroughly investigated from the viewpoint of constructing adjoint systems and calculating sensitivity values.</P>
