Home-Based Physical Activity in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Scoping Review

        Amirah Mustapa,Maria Justine,Aliff Abdul Latir,Haidzir Manaf 대한재활의학회 2021 Annals of Rehabilitation Medicine Vol.45 No.5

To promote optimal healthcare delivery in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) following the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019, adopting home-based physical activity (PA) is being seriously considered. Therefore, this study aims to outline the characteristics of exercise protocols for home-based PA and the challenges and limitations in implementing home-based PA in patients with T2DM. This scoping review was carried out by identifying eligible studies in six different databases (Scopus, Cochrane Library, SpringerLink, ProQuest, Science Direct, and Google Scholar). The keywords used in the search strategies were: home-based physical activity, home-based exercise therapy, home-based physical exercise, home-based exercise, home-based exercise training, diabetes mellitus, and T2DM. Two reviewers independently screened all full-text articles to find articles that met the eligibility requirements. A total of 443 articles were identified in the search. Approximately 342 articles were excluded by screening titles and abstracts, which led to the selection of 44 articles relevant to the current study. Further screening of the full-text led to the subsequent removal of 34 other articles, leading to 10 studies that were eligible for data extraction. This review suggested that the exercise protocols for home-based PA include resistance exercise using free weight and own body weight with a frequency of two to three sessions per week at moderate intensity, along with aerobic exercise (particularly walking) with a frequency of three to five times per week at moderate intensity. A combination of resistance and aerobic exercise showed more significant benefits of PA in patients with T2DM. More studies regarding home-based PA in T2DM patients with metabolic disorders are warranted.

      • Why Can’t We Have It Both? A Discussion on Work-Life Balance and Women Career Advancement in Malaysia

Nursyamsyul Syifa Mustapa,Khairunneezam Mohd Noor,Mahazan Abdul Mutalib 한국유통과학회 2017 KODISA ICBE (International Conference on Business Vol.2017 No.-

While the labor market is dominated by women, only small number of women make it to the top. For so many reasons, some women refuse top position and refuse to stay working. This article examines the role of work-life balance and its relationship to women career advancement, and why both are important in Malaysia. Malaysian society is a collectivist society and loyalty in a collectivist culture is vital. Consequently, the collectivist nature makes Malaysians give more importance to family members and this certainly influence the career decision-making of women. The arguments are arranged based on a review of the previous literature. It is found that both work-life balance and women career advancement are important to retain women in the working world as well as to motivate them to pursue promotion to a higher position. Even though some researchers agreed that the relationship between work-life balance and career advancement is mostly negative, others found that work-life balance could improve career advancement. At the end of the paper, some suggestions on how to improve work-life balance and career advancement are presented.

Relationship of TQM on Managerial Perfomance: Evidence From Property Sector in Indonesia

        Ahmad FIRMAN,Zainuddin MUSTAPA,Gunawan Bata ILYAS,Aditya Halim Perdana Kusuma Putra 한국유통과학회 2020 유통과학연구 Vol.18 No.1

Purpose: This study seeks to bridge between the research by Lawrence (1999) and Retegan (1992), where the focus of TQM on his studies rests on customer satisfaction. Whereas in this study trying to recompile TQM by involving the variables Innovation and competitive advantage to stimulate managerial performance improvement where performance measurements include various measurements such as financial performance, marketing performance, and production performance in the property industry. Research design, data, and methodology: Total sample are 105 respondents coming from middle to top level of management in the property sector in Indonesia. To empirically prove the results of this study using multiply regression analysis as a test tool for analysis. Results and Findings: The results of this study confirm that TQM has a positive effect on market competition, innovation, and company performance indirectly. However, it does not have a significant impact if it is directly related to TQM on company performance. In this case, TQM for property companies in Indonesia would not have been possible without the role of innovation and market competition. So that the managerial implications of this study also confirm that TQM is essential and feels obligatory to be implemented optimally.

Re-conceptualization of Business Model for Marketing Nowadays: Theory and Implications

FIRMAN, Ahmad,PUTRA, Aditya Halim Perdana Kusuma,MUSTAPA, Zainuddin,ILYAS, Gunawan Bata,KARIM, Kasnaeny Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.7

This study aims to develop the concept of innovation models with the marketing channel construct approach, marketing innovation, product segmentation, and customer insight; as well as improvements to the theory of resource-based combined with the method of service-dominant logic. This study approach is based on quantitative descriptive conducted with three stages of testing scenarios. The first test is the mapping of the innovation model construct through testing the validity and reliability with the moderation of customer orientation variables. The second scenario examines the relationship of influence between the independent variables on the dependent variable of 29 hypothetical analysis equation modeling. The unit of analysis was conducted on 497 SMEs involved in the food and beverage sectors, with the criteria being SMEs must have a rating of 4-5 points on the Go-Food applications software. The results shown that: 1) the construct used to develop an innovative model both directly and via moderation is positive and significant; 2) Through a complicated relationship that involves all components of the variable, it outlines a positive and significant effect except for the path of analysis (μ5). The theoretical and managerial implications state that the service-dominant logic approach and resource-based view theory have extreme reliability and interrelations.
