A 7-year-old spayed female Welsh corgi presented with a mass of the skull. The mass was diagnosed asmultilobular bone tumor and surgically removed. To treat a large bone defect after the tumor removal, custom-madeartificial bone fabricated by a 3-dimensional ink-jet printer was implanted in the defect. Follow-up computed tomographyevaluation was performed for 4.3 years. The implant was well integrated with the skull and had covered the largebone defect during the follow-up period. Gradual degradation of the implant began 6 weeks after surgery. It providesan additional option for the treatment of large bone defect.
Amino Acid Transporters as Potential Therapeutic Targets in Thyroid Cancer

Thyroid cancer cells have a high amino acid demand for proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. Amino acids are taken up by thyroidcancer cells, both thyroid follicular cell and thyroid parafollicular cells (commonly called “C-cells”), via amino acid transporters. Amino acid transporters up-regulate in many cancers, and their expression level associate with clinical aggressiveness and prognosis. This is the review to discuss the therapeutic potential of amino acid transporters and as molecular targets in thyroid cancer.

This study investigates the invisible factors that influence the subjective satisfaction of sleep, which is a crucial factor in sleep-supporting systems. The effects of these factors were examined using a neural network (NN) model. A sensing bed system obtains the environmental and vital signs data with five-level evaluations. The relationships among over 300,000 collected data points were visualized and analyzed using the NN model. The results indicated that the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the bed affect the subjective satisfaction of sleep both during warm and cold periods. Furthermore, the NN models indicated that the respiratory frequency influences sleep satisfaction. In this study, both these factors and their effects on the subjective satisfaction of sleep were successfully investigated by utilizing the NN model.

In this study, a target is to improve the accuracy of a blood pressure (BP) estimation system using photoplethysmography (PPG) signals. A BP estimation algorithm using multiple regression analysis is proposed and a BP estimation using the neural network is studied. Experimental results have shown that estimation accuracy can be improved. Estimation error of systolic BP value using multiple regression analysis with the proposed algorithm was reduced by approximately 16.3%. Furthermore, estimation error was reduced by approximately 21.6% than conventional multiple regression analysis in case of a BP estimation by machine learning using the neural network. It has been found that estimation accuracy is improved and shows the possibility of BP estimation using the neural network
