        ZERO DIVISOR GRAPHS OF SKEW GENERALIZED POWER SERIES RINGS

        Let R be a ring, (S,${\leq}$) a strictly ordered monoid and ${\omega}$ : S ${\rightarrow}$ End(R) a monoid homomorphism. The skew generalized power series ring R[[S,${\omega}$]] is a common generalization of (skew) polynomial rings, (skew) power series rings, (skew) Laurent polynomial rings, (skew) group rings, and Mal'cev-Neumann Laurent series rings. In this paper, we investigate the interplay between the ring-theoretical properties of R[[S,${\omega}$]] and the graph-theoretical properties of its zero-divisor graph ${\Gamma}$(R[[S,${\omega}$]]). Furthermore, we examine the preservation of diameter and girth of the zero-divisor graph under extension to skew generalized power series rings.

        ARCHIMEDEAN SKEW GENERALIZED POWER SERIES RINGS

        Let R be a ring, ($S,{\leq}$) a strictly ordered monoid, and ${\omega}:S{\rightarrow}End(R)$ a monoid homomorphism. In [18], Mazurek, and Ziembowski investigated when the skew generalized power series ring $R[[S,{\omega}]]$ is a domain satisfying the ascending chain condition on principal left (resp. right) ideals. Following [18], we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions on R, S and ${\omega}$ such that the skew generalized power series ring $R[[S,{\omega}]]$ is a right or left Archimedean domain. As particular cases of our general results we obtain new theorems on the ring of arithmetical functions and the ring of generalized power series. Our results extend and unify many existing results.

        ON (α, δ)-SKEW ARMENDARIZ RINGS

        For a ring endomorphism $\alpha$ and an $\alpha$-derivation $\delta$, we introduce ($\alpha$, $\delta$)-skew Armendariz rings which are a generalization of $\alpha$-rigid rings and Armendariz rings, and investigate their properties. A semi prime left Goldie ring is $\alpha$-weak Armendariz if and only if it is $\alpha$-rigid. Moreover, we study on the relationship between the Baerness and p.p. property of a ring R and these of the skew polynomial ring R[x; $\alpha$, $\delta$] in case R is ($\alpha$, $\delta$)-skew Armendariz. As a consequence we obtain a generalization of [11], [14] and [16].

        Association of Leptin Polymorphism with Production, Reproduction and Plasma Glucose Level in Iranian Holstein Cows

        The objective of this study was to evaluate the association of genetic differences in the bovine leptin gene and milk yield, reproduction, body condition score (BCS), and plasma glucose level in Iranian Holstein cows. In total, two hundred and thirty eight cows were used and genotyped for a restricted fragment length polymorphism at the leptin gene locus. Two genotypes, AA and AB, have been distinguished which have the frequencies of 0.89 and 0.11, respectively. The genotypes were distributed according to the Hardy - Weinberg equilibrium ($x^2$ = 0.733). During the first 12 wk of lactation, milk yield and composition, live weight, BCS and plasma glucose were measured in 50 cows. Data were analyzed based on a repeated measures ANOVA. During this period, milk yield and composition, live weight, BCS and plasma glucose level were similar among the genotypes. The first cumulative 60-d milk yield, 305-d milk yield, days to first breeding, days open and days from first breeding to conception using previous lactation records were also analyzed using Standard Least Square within mixed models. Fixed effects were year, season, parity and age at calving, and sire. For the reproductive traits the cumulative first 60-d milk yield was also added to the model. Animal was fitted as a random effect. A significant association was detected between the RFLP-AB genotype and 305-d milk yield (p<0.05). The first 60-d cumulative milk yield was similar for the two genotypes (p = 0.21) and tended to be higher in the heterozygous cows. The heterozygous genotypes at the above mentioned locus had a trend to better reproductive performance than the homozygous. The results demonstrate that the RFLP B-allele can yield a higher 305-d milk production with a trend to better reproductive performance.

      • Periodic Virtual Hierarchy: A Trust Model for Smart Grid Devices

        Authentication among various devices that form a smart grid is a fundamental issue. Due to the large-scale, distributed, and heterogeneous nature of a smart grid, authenticating devices based on their credentials such as secret keys is often not practical. Alternatively, certificate-based trust relationships can facilitate interactions in such scenarios. Two pivotal trust relationship models, hierarchical and peer-to-peer, have been well-researched in the literature. However, the devices in a smart grid do not benefit exclusively from a single trust relationship model owing to the heterogeneous nature of its control structure. In this paper, we propose a periodic hierarchical trust relationship model suitable for real-time applications in a smart grid and robust to the single point of failure problem, which is common in hierarchies. The proposed model deploys a two-layer security authentication mechanism among different devices within those domains in which there are control hierarchies using short-term and long-term certificates, the latter of which is verified periodically.

        Optimal method for early detection of cardiac disorders in thalassemia major patients: magnetic resonance imaging or echocardiography?

        Background Heart failure resulting from myocardial iron deposition is the most important cause of death in β-thalassemia major (TM) patients. Cardiac T2*magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), echocardiography, and serum ferritin level serve as diagnostic methods for detecting myocardial iron overload. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the relationship between the above-mentioned methods. Methods T2*MRI and echocardiographic measurement of left ventricular (LV) systolic and diastolic function were performed in 63 patients. Serum ferritin level was measured. The relationships between all assessments were evaluated. Results There were 40 women and 23 men with a mean age of 23.7±5.1 years (range, 15–35 years). There was no statistically significant correlation between serum ferritin level and LV systolic and diastolic function (P=0.994 and P=0.475, respectively). T2*MRI results had a significant correlation with ferritin level; 63.6% of patients with serum ferritin level >2,000 ng/mL had abnormal cardiac MRI, while none of the patients with ferritin level <1,000 ng/mL had abnormal cardiac MRI (P=0.001). There was no significant correlation between MRI findings and LV systolic function (P=1.00). However, we detected a significant difference between LV diastolic function and cardiac siderosis (P=0.03) Conclusion MRI findings are a good predictor of future cardiac dysfunction, even in asymptomatic TM patients; however, diastolic dysfunction may happen prior to cardiac siderosis in some patients, and echocardiography is able to diagnose this diastolic dysfunction while T2* MRI shows normal findings.

        Chelate-modified fenton treatment of sulfidic spent caustic

        Spent caustic can be treated by several treatment methods. Among the advanced techniques, Fenton reagent has many advantages. But since spent caustic contains excessive amounts of sulfide compounds, utilizing this technique in treatment of such wastewaters is not economical. The acid neutralization step, which was applied as the pretreatment process, showed an 84% COD abatement at temperature equal to 80 oC and a pH equal to 4.0. The acid neutralized wastewater was then introduced to the chelate-modified Fenton system and oxidized. Using a ratio of tartrate/ Fe2+=1.1, reaction time=50min, temperature=95 oC, Fe2+=110mg/l and a ratio of H2O2/COD=1.2 in the chelatemodified Fenton system at an optimum pH value equal to 1.9, total COD abatement of the wastewater reached over 99.4%. Having tartrate added to the Fenton system, a series of photochemical reactions enhanced Fe2+ and hydroxyl radicals’ generation. This method has proved to be the recommended technique for the contamination abatement of spent caustic.

        Speed Control Based on Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System for Permanent Magnet Direct Current Motor

        Intelligent control that can be used learning ability and human experiences, is widely used in industrial application such as motors speed control. This paper presents Proportional-Integral-Derivative Controller (PID controller) based on Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) for Permanent Magnet Direct Current (PMDC) motor. ANFIS provides combination of artificial neural network and fuzzy inference systems therefore ANFIS uses advantages of them simultaneously. The proposed PID controller Coefficients are determined by ANFIS. The proposed controller based system is compared with Internal Model Control (IMC) PID controller based system. The Comparison shows that proposed controller improves characteristics in different conditions such as no load, increasing reference speed, applied load and noisy load. Proposed controller based system can improve system performance by smaller fuzzy rule set.
