Influencing Factors on Consumers' Smartphone Adoption
Miyoun Park,Zhenbao Sun,Kumju Hwang,Il-han Lee 한국데이타베이스학회 2012 Journal of information technology applications & m Vol.19 No.2
The purpose of this study is to investigate the research model attempting to explain factors influencing consumers' attitude towards Smartphone adoption and behavioral intention to use a Smartphone. The 357 sets of data are tested against the model using SEM (structural equation model). The research results reveal that organizational and social influences, consumers' self-actualization, and trust affect consumers' attitude towards Smartphone adoption, and behavioral control influences behavioral intention. Implications of the findings suggest that Smartphone should be approached with a holistic view, suggesting that Smartphone research should emphasize Smartphone as a convergent device including both hardware and software with services and applications. Research results are discussed, and limitations of the current study and future research are presented.
An Exploration of Elementary Children’s Place Experience in a Low-income City Neighborhood

This article introduces a novel class of active contour models for image segmentation. It makes use of non-local comparisons between pairs of patches within each region to be segmented. The corresponding variational segmentation problem is implemented using a level set formulation that can handle an arbitrary number of regions. The pairwise interaction of features only constrains the local homogeneity of image features, which is crucial to capture regions with smoothly spatially varying features. This segmentation method is generic and can be adapted to various segmentation problems by designing an appropriate metric between patches. We instantiate this framework using several classes of features and metrics. Piecewise smooth grayscale and color images are handled using L2 distance between image patches. We show examples of efficient segmentation of natural color images. Locally oriented textures are segmented using the L2 distance between patches of Gabor coefficients. We use a Wasserstein distance between local empirical distributions for locally homogenous random textures. A correlation metric between local motion signatures is able to segment piecewise smooth optical flows.
Market Timing and Selectivity in Feedback Trading : Retail vs. Institutional Funds
Vol.2017 No.05
This study compares the differences in equity fund investment between retail and institutional investors by developing a new empirical feedback model. First, we find that retail investors engage in positive feedback trading for market timing and selectivity. Second, positive feedback trading for market timing of retail investors is due to sell-side trades. Positive feedback trading for selectivity is generated by a combined effect of both sell- and buy-side trades. Third, there is limited evidence of overconfidence in equity mutual funds. Fourth, we fail to find any indirect evidence of disposition effect from both investors. Finally, attribution bias affects positive feedback trading of retail investors, and they apply feedback trading for market timing and selectivity according to market conditions.
