This study is about the hat of the gentry and ordinary people in Chosun era, not the high classical cap of the King and dignitaries. The wearing of Gat in Korea was started from the 6th year of the reign of King Gongmin in Korea Dynasty, and the Chosun hat has two types of G n & Rip. For the kinds of G n, there are Bangg n, Bokg n, Yug n, Mangg n, etc. and Mangg n was a symbolic expression of a grown-up. Putting on a cap was started when the King Gongmin made civil and military officials to wear a crown (1357, the 6th year of his reign). Chosun succeeded the crown custon as is was, yet the shape of Gat became confused. In the 20th year of King Sungjong's reign (1485), the Rip shape was changed by an order since it was looked like Seungrip under the influence of contemporary trend to H krip. And the change of Gat shape experienced the shifting procedure of Paeraengi to Chorip and finally to H krip, and the last one H krip became the symbolic crown of civil and military officials. However the use of Paeraengi and Chorip was avoided, cause they were used by both nobility and common people at first but the nobillity used only H krip later.

Carbohydrate intake is decreasing along with the reduction of rice consumption among the Korean population. There is an increasing trend of diet-related degenerative diseases with the increased consumption of animal food, and therefore, the increase of animal food intake can be considered as one of causes of the diet-related disease. The objective of this study is to investigate the differences in rice preference and breakfast patterns between the subjects have breakfast regularly and those skipping it. One thousand participants were selected by the stratified sample method from the primary, middle, high school and college, and company workers from 24 cities of Kyeonggi-do. The interviewing procedure was carried by regional home extension workers. Approximately half participants (49.9%) were under the age of 20. Although 86% of the subjects considered eating breakfast good for health. only 46.4% of the subjects had breakfast regularly (HB). The rest of them skipped breakfast (SB) more than twice a week. The proportion of subjects having no breakfast were 9.3% of male and 12.2% of female subjects. The main reason for not having breakfast was due to the limited time. for their breakfast 85% of the HB ate boiled rice with the side dishes. More subjects in SB (27.8%) preferred the boiled rice with various grains for breakfast than those of HB (21.8%). The subjects in HB (65.5%) preferred boiled plein rice more than those of SB (56.9%). In cases they must have breakfast, 47.7% of the subjects wanted rice with the side dishes, 24.2% preferred rice ball or rice roll with laver, 10.5% preferred a rice beverage. More subjects in HB (59.8%) wanted rice with side dishes than those in SB (36.9%). It was found out that selecting rice at the breakfast is still the main choice. Diverse ready-to-eat rice menus have to be developed to increase the rice consumption, specially to increase breakfast eating frequencies of SB through saving time and effort.

This study surveyes the degree of recognition of industrial crafts in Korea. The period of time for this survey was from October 10, 1998 to November 15, 1998. The 234 people over than twenty-year-olds working men and women, including students, bussinessmen, teachers and customers answered Q & A paper. The survey investigated 50 questions. The questions are put under the titles of: ① general, ② the design of industrial crafts in Korea, ③ the quality of industrial crafts in Korea, ④ the price of industrial crafts in Korea, ⑤ the information activity about industrial crafts in Korea, ⑥ the distribution process of industrial crafts in Korea, ⑦ the process of the manufacture of industrial crafts in Korea, ⑧ the recognition of the differences between the industrial products and craft arts in Korea, ⑨ the comparison with foreign countries' craft arts, ⑩ the perspective of industrial crafts in Korea. The study reviews the developmental process of industrial craft paradigm with emphasis on systems of market, advertisement, and database of craft design in Korea. Under the plan of long term developing cycle with cooperation, support system by government, and new cultivating design will contribute to developing the industrial craft art in Korea.

Introduction: A patent DA (PDA) occurs when the DA fails to close completely. Situs ambiguous (SA) is a third type of situs in which the arrangement of the organs is not as ordered and the relationship between the atria and the viscera is inconsistent. There is few reports that SA observed with PDA. We report a rare case of a situs ambiguous with polysplenia (SAP) and a small PDA in a 30-year-old female. Case: A 30-year-old female, gave a visit for further evaluation of incidental suspicious pancreatic mass, and concurrently detected cardiac murmur during her routine checkup. abdominal computed tomography (CT) was conducted. Abdominal CT revealed multiple spleens, semi-annular pancreas without small bowel obstruction, and centralized liver. CT of abdomen showed right-sided stomach and double-sided inferior vena cavas (IVCs), which showed azygous continuation at renal vein level (Fig. 1) and then united to drain to the right atrium. In addition, phytate splenic scan showed areas of Tc-99m phytate uptake at mid portion of abdomen (Fig. 2), suggesting ectopic splenic tissues (consistent with SAP). By auscultation, regular heart beat with continuous cardiac murmur was heard at pulmonic area. Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) showed small PDA(Fig. 4) with maximal velocity of 4.3 m/sec, shunt ratio of Qp/Qs 1.3, LA/Ao ratio of 1.0. Coronary multidirectional CT was performed. There were no other cardiovascular anomalies than 3.2×2.4mm sized PDA.

Background/Aims: As the prevalence of diabetes mellitus and its complications increase rapidly, diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), which are a major diabetic complication, are expected to increase. For prevention and effective treatment, it is important to understand the clinical course of DFUs. The aim of this study was to investigate the natural course and predictors of amputation in patients with DFUs who required hospitalization Methods: A total of 209 patients with type 2 diabetes, aged 30 to 85 years, who visited emergency department or needed hospitalization due to DFUs were consecutively enrolled from May 2012 to January 2016, by retrospective medical record review. The main outcome was lower extremity amputation (LEA). Results: Among 192 patients who completed follow-up, 113 patients (58.9%) required LEAs. Compared to patients without amputation, baseline levels of white blood cell counts and C-reactive protein were higher in patients with amputation. In addition, bone and joint involvement was more frequently observed in patients with amputation. Multivariable regression analysis revealed that combined infection (odds ratio [OR], 11.39; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.55 to 50.93; p = 0.001) and bone or joint involvement (OR, 3.74; 95% CI, 1.10 to 12.70; p = 0.035) were significantly associated with an increased risk of LEA. Conclusions: The depth of the wound and combined infection of DFU, rather than the extent of the wound, were significant prognostic factors of LEAs in patients with type 2 diabetes.
