Kinetin inhibits apoptosis of aging spleen cells induced by D-galactose in rats

        Mengyun Li,Wu-Qing OuYang,Xiaoli Wu,Yin Zheng,Yunpeng Wei,Lei An 대한수의학회 2014 JOURNAL OF VETERINARY SCIENCE Vol.15 No.3

Kinetin (Kn) is a cytokinin growth factor that exertsseveral anti-aging and antioxidant effects on cells andorgans. To investigate the mechanism underlying apoptoticevents in aging cells induced by D-galactose (D-gal), weexamined the effect of Kn delivered via nuchalsubcutaneous injection on D-gal-induced aging andapoptosis in rats. Our results showed that interleukin (IL)-2levels and mitochondrial membrane potential (Δ Ψ m) weredecreased by Kn in aging rats while IL-6 production andapoptosis increased. In addition, the expression ofanti-apoptotic Bcl-2 was low while that of Bax was high inthe aging group. After treated with Kn, compared withaging group, there showed obvious difference in Kn groupwith elevated IL-2, proliferation index, Bcl-2, Δ Ψ m anddecreased IL-6 and Bax in splenic lymphocyte. Based onthese results, we concluded that Kn can effectively protectthe rat spleen from aging, apoptosis, and atrophy.

Nexus among Foreign Remittances and Economic Growth Indicators in South Asian Countries: An Empirical Analysis

        Muhammad Imran,Mengyun Wu,Ruihui Yu,Yongping Zhong,Hee Cheol Moon 한국무역연구원 2021 무역연구 Vol.17 No.1

Purpose This paper aims to analyse that how the remittance effect the growth indicators like Employment;Export and Inflation in South Asian Region Countries(SAARC). Design/Methodology/Approach This paper examined the impact of remittances and economic indicators on the economic growth in SAARC region using panel data set for the period of 12/1994 to 12/2017. Our panel models are estimated using fixed effect model (FEM) or random effect model (REM) using Hausman (1978) specification test. Findings Remittances showed positive and statistically significant impact on economic growth of SAARC region. Though the coefficient is relatively low which may be due to the informal channels of transferring remittances. Export and employment also showed positive and significant impact on GDP. But;inflation have no significant impact on GDP in our sample. Research Implications Remittances have positive impact on economic growth and employment. This may encourage the overseas working force to send the remittances through formal way to predict the true magnitude of remittances. The government need to reduce the cost of transfer on remittances to discourage informal channels of remittance transfer.

Sum Transmission Rate Maximization Based Cooperative Spectrum Sharing with Both Primary and Secondary QoS-Guarantee

( Weidang Lu ),( Yufei Zhu ),( Mengyun Wang ),( Hong Peng ),( Xin Liu ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2016 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.10 No.5

In this paper, we propose a sum transmission rate maximization based cooperative spectrum sharing protocol with quality-of-service (QoS) support for both of the primary and secondary systems, which exploits the situation when the primary system experiences a weak channel. The secondary transmitter STb which provides the best performance for the primary and secondary systems is selected to forward the primary signal. Specifically, STb helps the primary system achieve the target rate by using a fraction of its power to forward the primary signal. As a reward, it can gain spectrum access by using the remaining power to transmit its own signal. We study the secondary user selection and optimal power allocation such that the sum transmission rate of primary and secondary systems is maximized, while the QoS of both primary and secondary systems can be guaranteed. Simulation results demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed spectrum sharing protocol and its benefit to both primary and secondary systems.

Chitosan/hydroxyapatite composite coatings on porous Ti6Al4V titanium implants: in vitro and in vivo studies

        Zhang, Ting,Zhang, Xinwei,Mao, Mengyun,Li, Jiayi,Wei, Ting,Sun, Huiqiang Korean Academy of Periodontology 2020 Journal of Periodontal & Implant Science Vol.50 No.6

Purpose: Titanium implants are widely used in the treatment of dentition defects; however, due to problems such as osseointegration failure, peri-implant bone resorption, and periimplant inflammation, their application is subject to certain restrictions. The surface modification of titanium implants can improve the implant success rate and meet the needs of clinical applications. The goal of this study was to evaluate the effect of the use of porous titanium with a chitosan/hydroxyapatite coating on osseointegration. Methods: Titanium implants with a dense core and a porous outer structure were prepared using a computer-aided design model and selective laser sintering technology, with a fabricated chitosan/hydroxyapatite composite coating on their surfaces. In vivo and in vitro experiments were used to assess osteogenesis. Results: The quasi-elastic gradient and compressive strength of porous titanium implants were observed to decrease as the porosity increased. The in vitro experiments demonstrated that, the porous titanium implants had no biological toxicity; additionally, the porous structure was shown to be superior to dense titanium with regard to facilitating the adhesion and proliferation of osteoblast-like MC3T3-E1 cells. The in vivo experimental results also showed that the porous structure was beneficial, as bone tissue could grow into the pores, thereby exhibiting good osseointegration. Conclusions: Porous titanium with a chitosan/hydroxyapatite coating promoted MC3T3-E1 cell proliferation and differentiation, and also improved osseointegration in vitro. This study has meaningful implications for research into ways of improving the surface structures of implants and promoting implant osseointegration.

Multifunctional nanozyme‑reinforced copper‑coordination polymer nanoparticles for drug‑resistance bacteria extinction and diabetic wound healing

        Jiahui Zhao,Tengfei Xu,Jichao Sun,Haitao Yuan,Mengyun Hou,Zhijie Li,Jigang Wang,Zhen Liang 한국생체재료학회 2023 생체재료학회지 Vol.27 No.00

Background Drug-resistant bacterial infections in chronic wounds are a persistent issue, as they are resistant to antibiotics and can cause excessive inflammation due to generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). An effective solution would be to not only combat bacterial infections but also scavenge ROS to relieve inflammation at the wound site. Scaffolds with antioxidant properties are attractive for their ability to scavenge ROS, and there is medical demand in developing antioxidant enzyme-mimicking nanomaterials for wound healing. Methods In this study, we fabricated copper-coordination polymer nanoparticles (Cu-CPNs) through a self-assembly process. Furthermore, ε-polylysine (EPL), an antibacterial and cationic polymer, was integrated into the Cu-CPNs structure through a simple one-pot self-assembly process without sacrificing the glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and superoxide dismutase (SOD)-mimicking activity of Cu-CPNs. Results The resulting Cu-CPNs exhibit excellent antioxidant propertiesin mimicking the activity of glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase and allowing them to effectively scavenge harmful ROS produced in wound sites. The in vitro experiments showed that the resulting Cu-CPNs@EPL complex have superior antioxidant properties and antibacterial effects. Bacterial metabolic analysis revealed that the complex mainly affects the cell membrane integrity and nucleic acid synthesis that leads to bacterial death. Conclusions The Cu-CPNs@EPL complex has impressive antioxidant properties and antibacterial effects, making it a promising solution for treating drug-resistant bacterial infections in chronic wounds. The complex’s ability to neutralize multiple ROS and reduce ROS-induced inflammation can help relieve inflammation at the wound site.

Long non-coding RNA RP11-6O2.4 indicates poor prognosis and suppresses cell cycle progression through the p38-MAPK signaling pathway in gastric cancer

        Yang Feng,Zhiming Fu,Yajun Luo,Wang Tan,Zilin Liu,Pengcheng Ye,Fei Lu,Wanping Xiang,Linghan Tang,Lin Yao,Mengyun Song,Qingmei Huang,Yilun Liu,Jiangwei Xiao 대한독성 유전단백체 학회 2019 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.15 No.3

Backgrounds: The role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNA) in gastric cancer (GC) has been highlighted in studies conducted over the past decade. However, the potential clinical value and the mechanisms of action of RP11-6O2.4 in GC have not been thoroughly elucidated to date. The specific aim of the present study was to assess RP11-6O2.4 and to explore its role in human GC. Methods: Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) was performed to analyze the expression levels of RP11-6O2.4 in GC tissues, paired adjacent noncancerous tissues (ANTs) and GC cell lines. In addition, the correlation between RP11-6O2.4 expression and the clinical characteristics and prognosis of patients with GC was statistically analyzed. The effects of RP11- 6O2.4 on the GC cell cycle transformation through the p38-MAPK signaling pathway were explored by flow cytometry, qPCR and Western blot analysis after treatment with SB203580, a p38MAPK specific inhibitor, in vitro. Results: The expression levels of RP11-6O2.4 in GC tissues were significantly lower than the paired ANTs (P<0.05). In addition, RP11-6O2.4 expression was significantly lower in cases with older age, longer maximum tumor diameter, higher ASA grade and deeper invasive depth (P<0.05). RP11-6O2.4 expression was significantly higher in cases with well/middle differentiation than poor/no differentiation; higher in cases without lymph node metastasis than in lymph node metastasis; and higher in cases in stage Ⅰ/Ⅱ than in stage Ⅲ/Ⅳ. An in vitro assay showed that RP11-6O2.4 induced G0/ G1 phase cell cycle arrest, likely by regulating the p38- MAPK signaling pathway. Conclusion: The above mentioned data suggested that RP11-6O2.4 was a tumor-suppressor gene in GC. RP11- 6O2.4 might play an important role in the cell cycle transformation by regulating the p38-MAPK signaling pathway, thereby representing a specific biomarker and a potential molecular target for the treatment of GC.
