        This study was carried out to investigate the quality of sweet potato leaves tea by different manufacturing process as the hot-air dried tea (DT), the pan-fired tea (PT), the pan-fired tea after steaming (SPT) and the pan-fried tea after boiling (BPT). The highest total phenolics and flavonoid content of the leaves tea were 27.21 and 5.60 mg/g at DT, respectively, and the lowest in the BPT were 11.72 and 2.21 mg/g, respectively. In ABTS radical scavenging activity of different manufacturing processed tea ranged from 2.50~3.70 mg AA eq/g, and were the highest for DT (p<0.05), followed by PT were 3.09 mg AA eq/g (p>0.05). The content of tannin was the higher in the DT (4.64 mg/g) than in the others, and the lowest in the BPT (2.87 mg/g). Although b-values of PT (4.33) was lower than in the others, the L-value and a-value in PT were highest.         Imprinted gene expression in maize starchy endosperm and aleurone tissues of reciprocal F1 hybrids at a defined developmental stage

        Imprinted gene expression in flowering plants predominantly occurs in the triploid endosperm of developing seed. However, endosperm is composed of distinct tissue types. For example, the maize (Zea mays) endosperm is constituted by two major tissues, starchy endosperm and aleurone. Previous studies in imprinted gene expression have generally assumed that the different tissues constituting endosperm would behavior the same, and hence have not examined them separately. Here, to examine parentalspecific expression of imprinted genes in different parts of the seed, eight previously reported maize protein-coding imprinted genes were selected, and analyzed by cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence (CAPS) coupled with Sanger sequencing for transcripts from the various seed tissues collected at 18 days after pollination (DAP). The studied tissues included seed coat, embryo, starchy endosperm and aleurone, which were collected from a pair of reciprocal F1 hybrids produced by crossing inbred lines B73 and Mo17. Six of these eight analyzed imprinted genes showed the same imprinted expression pattern between the starchy endosperm and aleurone, but two showed imprinted expression only in the starchy endosperm. Comparison of the expression pattern of 20 selected imprinted genes in multiple seed tissues and vegetative tissues indicated that the majority (~ 75%) of these imprinted genes exhibited seedspecific or endosperm-specific expression. Our results also uncovered that imprinted genes have a high propensity to be alternatively spliced via intron retention in the developing embryo compared with the other tissues.

        Comparison of functional components in various sweet potato leaves and stalks

        The functional components of leaves and stalks from 14 sweet potato cultivars were investigated by determining lutein, β-carotene, chlorophyll, tannin and phenolic acid contents. It was found that the contents of the functional components in different cultivars differ significantly (p<0.05). Lutein, β-carotene and total chlorophyll contents were high in leaves and ranged from 19.01–28.85, 35.21–52.01 and 440.9–712.2 mg/100 g, respectively. The tannin and total phenolic acid contents of sweet potato leaves ranged from 2,280–4,460 and 2,640.2–4,200.9 mg/100 g, respectively. Significant correlations have been observed among cultivar, lutein, β-carotene, chlorophyll, and other antioxidants. The leaves of Healthymi cultivar contained the highest level of lutein, β-carotene and total chlorophyll, and Geonpungmi cultivar contained the highest level of the other antioxidant, among the all cultivars examined. Sweet potato leaves and stalks contain abundant functional components that make them potentially useful as fresh vegetables or processed foods.

        외국인 교수의 연구 생산성 영향요인 분석

        [연구목적] 이 연구의 목적은 한국적 맥락에서 외국인 교수라는 특수한 신분을 가진 학자들의 연구 생산성에 영향을 주는 요인이 무엇인지를 조직행동 이론모형(직무자원, 문화적응, 동기이론)에 기초한 통합적 관점에서 분석하는 것이다. [연구방법] 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 국내 대학에 재직 중인 외국인 교수들을 대상으로 2018년 8월부터 2019년 4월까지 온라인으로 진행된 설문조사 데이터(N=311)를 활용하여, 연구 생산성을 국내저널과 해외 저널로 나누어서 포아송 회귀모형으로 분석하였다. [연구결과] 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국내외 저널의 연구 생산성에 모두 유의하게 정적인 영향을 미치는 요인은 직무자원(대학원생 수)과 동기요인이었다. 둘째, 직무자원의 다른 요소들(교육 및 연구에 투입한 시간, 연구비 수혜 여부)은 해외 저널의 연구 생산성에만 유의한 영향이 있었다. 셋째, 문화적응은 국내 저널의 연구 생산성에만 유의한 영향이 있었다. 넷째, 성별, 전공계열, 종신보장 여부, 결혼 여부, 한국계 외국인 여부는 국내 저널과 해외 저널의 연구 생산성에 차별적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. [결론] 결론적으로 외국인 교수의 연구 생산성은 직무자원, 문화적응, 동기요인을 주된 영향요인으로 볼 수 있으며, 이들 영향요인은 해외 저널과 국내 저널의 연구 생산성에 차별적인 영향이 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 외국인 교수의 연구 생산성 향상에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다. [Purpose]This study aims to analyze factors influencing the research productivity of international faculty members with a doctoral degree in Korean universities from an integrated perspective based on theoretical models of organizational behaviors. [Methods]To this end, Poisson regression model was used to analyze the data collected from international faculty members online between August 2018 and April 2019. The final sample consisted of 311 full-time faulty members, excluding those without an advanced degree. [Results]Its main findings are as follows. First, both job resource(number of graduate students) and motivators had a significant positive effect on their research productivity. Second, other job resource variables, such as average hours spent on teaching and research on a typical week and research funding had a significant effect on research productivity measured by research papers published in international journals. Third, cultural adjustment had a significant effect on domestic research productivity. Finally, such variables as gender, academic discipline, tenure, marital status, ethnic Koreans turned out to have a differential effect by the type of research productivity. [Conclusion]It concluded that research productivity of international faculty members was affected by job resources, cultural adjustment, and motivators, controlling for individual and institutional characteristics. Meanwhile, these factors had a differential effect by its type. Based on those findings, institutional implications were suggested in order to improve their research productivity.

        교차성을 활용한 상호문화교육 연구-드라마 <SKY 캐슬>을 중심으로-

        Korean dramas (i.e., K-dramas) reveal cultural complexities, thus making themselves useful educational material. Taking the K-drama “SKY Castle” as an example, this study applies an intersectional lens to analyze educational issues within the Korean context and diverse cases of intercultural communication among international students in Korea. By applying intersectionality, it explores the possibilities of cultural education from the perspective of interculturalism to help international students better understand other cultures. The analysis results indicate educational content. Then, based on these suggested contents, we collect the responses of actual learners to research and explore the possibilities of educational application through case studies. Our findings show that the introduction of intersectionality into intercultural education allows learners to view and understand other cultures and individuals from various perspectives as well as recognize the structure of the society surrounding such individuals to create a three-dimensional space and opportunity for critical communication.

        추출조건에 따른 고구마 잎의 Lutein, β-Carotene 및 Polyphenol 함량

        본 연구는 고구마 잎에 함유된 carotenoids류인 lutein, β-carotene과 항산화 성분을 효과적으로 동시에 추출할 수 있는 방법을 연구하고 각 추출물에 대한 항산화 효과를 평가하였다. 1차 추출은 99.9% 에탄올을 사용하였고 2차 추출은 에탄올 농도를 50~90%로 증가시키며 추출하였다. Lutein과 β-carotene은 2차 추출 에탄올 농도 90%에서 각각 77.9% 및 68.5%로 가장 높은 추출률을 나타내었고 추출시간이 길어짐에 따라 감소하였다. Polyphenol, flavonoid 및 DPPH, ABTS 라디칼 소거능은 2차 추출 에탄올 농도 60%에서 각각 32.3 mg gallic acid equivalent/g, 17.0 mg catechin equivalent/g 및 1.94 mg/mL(EDA, IC50), 17.0 mg AA eq/g(AEAC)으로 가장 높게 나타났으며, 추출시간이 길어짐에 따라 감소하였다. 또한, 총 페놀산 함량은 2차 추출을 에탄올 60~70%에서 추출 시 가장 높은 함량을 나타내었다. 지용성 물질인 carotenoids뿐만 아니라 대량으로 존재하는 수용성 물질인 페놀류를 동시에 추출하기 위해서는 99.9%의 에탄올을 사용하여 1차 추출을 하고, 60% 정도의 에탄올로 2차 추출을 30분 동안 추출 시 높은 추출률을 나타내어 루테인, 베타카로틴 및 폴리페놀 동시 추출법으로 가장 적합할 것으로 판단되었다. This study was carried out to determine the simultaneous extraction conditions of functional components (lutein, β-carotene, total polyphenol, flavonoids, and phenolic compounds) from sweet potato leaves and to evaluate the antioxidant activities. Extraction conditions included different ethanol concentrations (1st extraction: 99.9% ethanol; 2nd extraction: 50∼90% ethanol) and times (30, 60, and 90 min). The highest values of lutein and β-carotene content were obtained by the 2nd extraction at an ethanol concentration of 90%. The extraction yields of lutein and β-carotene decreased with increasing extraction time. The maximum polyphenol, flavonoid, and total phenolic acid contents and 2,2’-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activities were 32.3 mg gallic acid equivalent/g, 17.0 mg catechin equivalent/g, 2,842.6 mg/100 g, 17.0 mg ascorbic acid equivalent/g, and 1.94 mg/mL (IC50) at the 2nd extraction with an ethanol concentration of 60%. The optimum extraction conditions were as follows; ethanol concentrations of the extraction solvent were 99.9% (1st extraction) and 60% (2nd extraction), and extraction time was 30 min.

        고구마 품종별 잎과 잎자루의 성분특성과 항산화활성

        고구마 잎과 잎자루에 대한 식품소재로서의 활용 가능성을 알아보기 위하여 14 품종의 고구마에 대한 일반성분, 무기질 및 항산화활성에 대해 조사하였다. 무기질 함량은 K과 Ca 함량이 가장 높았으며, 단백질 함량은 잎에서 15.57~20.34% 범위로 연황미 가장 높게 나타났고 잎자루에서는 3.71~5.97% 범위로 신천미에서 가장 높게 나타났다. 잎의 총 폴리페놀 함량과 플라보노이드 함량은 각각 46.26~85.10mg/g 및 40.25~68.37 mg/g 범위로 건풍미에서 가장 높았으며, 잎자루는 각각 14.60~37.93 mg/g 및 10.18~22.48 mg/g으로 신천미에서 가장 높았다. DPPH 라디칼 소거활성은 잎의 경우 건풍미와 증미에서 IC<sub>50</sub>값이 0.109 mg/mL로 가장 높았으며, 잎자루는 신천미가 0.448 mg/mL로 가장 높았다. 총 항산화력은 잎의 경우 건풍미가 58.75 mg AA eq/g으로 가장 높았고 잎자루는 대유미가 14.95 mg AA eq/g으로 가장 높았다. 이상의 결과로부터 고구마 잎이 잎자루보다 항산화활성 뿐만 아니라 단백질함량과 무기질함량이 풍부해 식품소재로써 활용가능성이 높을 것으로 판단된다. This study was conducted to evaluate the vegetative value of sweet potato leaves and stalks by investigating their chemical composition and antioxidant activity. The major minerals were found to be Ca and K. The crude protein content of the leaves ranged from 15.57% in Geonpungmi to 20.34% in Yeonhwangmi, while that of stalks was between 3.71% in Yulmi and 5.97% in Sinchunmi. The total phenolics and flavonoids content of the leaves were about 3.0~4.0 times higher than those of stalks. The levels of polyphenols and flavonoids were high in Geonpungmi leaf and in Sinchunmi stalk. ABTS radical activities were high in Geonpungmi leaf (58.75 mg AA eq/g) and in Daeyumi stalk (14.95 mg AA eq/g). DPPH radical scavenging was high in Geonpungmi and Jeungmi leaves (IC<sub>50</sub>, 0.11 mg/mL) and in Sinchunmi stalk (IC<sub>50</sub>, 1.09 mg/mL).
