      • A Kind of New Wheelchair Based on Robot and Bionics Technology

Mei Hong 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Smart Home Vol.10 No.12

Traditional wheelchair doesn’t have the ability of climbing stairs and crossing obstacles. And it has poor ability of climbing slopes. Aiming at these problems, the author improved the traditional wheelchair with the help of robot and bionics technology. The improvement of the wheelchair simulates the movement of animals with four legs. Four mechanical legs are added to the wheelchair. When the wheelchair needs to climb stairs or cross an obstacle, the wheels retract and the four legs walk just like a four legged animal. When the wheelchair needs to climb a slope, the wheels work and the two back legs push it to increase its climbing ability to avoid sliding back. The seat keeps level while climbing stairs or a slope. The author analyzed its moving processes, designed the parameters of its mechanical legs and also analyzed its ability of climbing a slope. To some extend, the improvement of the wheelchair expands the living space of the aged and the disabled people and improves their living quality.

      • Design of Multi-Service Smart Card Systems for High Security and Performance

Mei Hong,Hui Guo 보안공학연구지원센터 2009 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.3 No.1

A multi-service smart card system enables users to access di®erent services over an open network with a single smart card. Due to its highly economic and social benets, the multi-service smart card system has drawn much attention in industrial and academic areas. However, the big hindrance to its wide employment is the risk of breaching users' privacy and their service con¯dentiality across di®erent service systems. This paper proposes a secure multi-service system model to overcome such problems. The model allows users to access di®erent services with a single password. The privacy and service con¯dentiality are achieved through a set of protections|password protection, user identity protection, and service transaction protection|to guarantee the user's anonymity to all service systems and ensure high unlinkability between di®erent services.

Developmental Effects of Dietary Nucleotides in Second-Generation Weaned Rats

        Meihong Xu,Yi Ma,Linlin Xu,Yajun Xu,Yong Li 한국식품영양과학회 2013 Journal of medicinal food Vol.16 No.12

The aim of the present study was to evaluate dietary effects of dietary nucleotides (NTs) on developmental parameters in second-generation Sprague-Dawley rats. Experimental design was set up as six groups, including one control and five nucleotide administered groups, doses ranged from 0.01% to 1.28% nucleotides. First-generation (F0) rats were divided into two terms: (1) fed for 90-day study; (2) mated for offspring (F1). After weaning, each group of second-generation F1 rats was fed the control diet. Evaluating parameters were weight gain and food utilization ratios of rats, hematological and biochemical parameters, and organ pathology. The results showed that there was a greater weight gain and food utilization ratio in weaned rats (F0 and F1). Furthermore, weight gain and food utilization ratios were increased in the first 2 weeks of F1 male and the first week of F1 female rats. There were no significant changes in blood indicators of NT groups with the exception of decrease in aspartate aminotransferase and serum uric acid levels. Overall, it was demonstrated that NT supplements could promote the early growth and development at a 0.01% dose. Although NTs may have cumulative reproductive effects, they were safe even at a high-dose supplementation. Additionally, NT supplementation could promote restoration and optimize liver function.

Exergy analysis and multi-objective optimisation for energy system: a case study of a separation process in ethylene manufacturing

Feifei Shen,Meihong Wang,Lingxiang Huang,Feng Qian 한국공업화학회 2021 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.93 No.-

In chemical industry, most processes face the challenge of high energy consumption. The approachpresented in this study can reduce the energy footprint and increase efficiency. The energy system of aseparation process in ethylene manufacturing is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach. The chilling train system of the separation process in a typical ethylene plant consumes most cooling andprovides appropriate feed for distillation columns. The steady state simulation of system was presentedand the simulation results were proved accurate. The conventional exergy analysis identifies thatDephlegmator No.1 (a heat exchange and mass transfer device) has the highest exergy destruction(1401.28 kW). Based on advanced exergy analysis, Dephlegmator No.1 has the highest rate of avoidableexergy destruction (89.04 %). Finally, a multi-objective optimisation aiming to maximise system exergyefficiency and to minimise operational cost was performed and the Pareto frontier was obtained. Themulti-objective optimized exergy efficiency is 79.53 % (improved by 0.61 %) and the operational cost is0.02031 yuan/kg (saved by 11.19 %). This study will guide future research to reduce energy consumptionin process manufacturing.

Numerical Analysis of Leakage Performance of Brush Seal Based on a 2-D Tube Bank Model and Porous Medium Model Considering the Effect of Compressible Gas

Xiaolei Song,Meihong Liu,Jingyao Yang 한국유체기계학회 2022 International journal of fluid machinery and syste Vol.15 No.3

This paper presented a formula for calculating the resistance coefficient of porous medium model of brush seals considering the effect of gas compressibility. Firstly, the 2-D tube bank model is used to calculate the axial resistance coefficient of brush seals. Secondly, the feasibility of the method is validated according to the existing experiment results. The validation results show that this formula is effective for brush seals. Lastly, the pressure distribution and leakage rate of the test brush seal are analyzed. With the presented porous medium model, the pressure drop through the bristle is computed, and the effect of groove of the back plate is addressed. The pressure drop is mainly concentrated on the downstream side of the bristle pack. The groove in the back plate can keep the pressure balance of the bristles back, causing the recovering of the pressure in the last row of bristles. The leakage rate of porous medium model is higher than the 2-d tube bank model, because the 2-D tube bank model only considers the leakage rate of the zone of the fence height. The rotation speed has a little effect on the reduction of the leakage rate.

      • Epigenetic modulation of the muscarinic type 3 receptor in salivary epithelial cells.

        Shin, Yong-Hwan,Jin, Meihong,Hwang, Sung-Min,Choi, Seul-Ki,Namkoong, Eun,Kim, Minkyoung,Park, Moon-Yong,Choi, Se-Young,Lee, Jong-Ho,Park, Kyungpyo United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology [e 2015 Laboratory investigation Vol.95 No.2

<P>Muscarinic receptors, particularly the type 3 subtype (M3R), have an important role in exocrine secretion. M3R normally function in HSG cells originated from human submandibular gland ducts, but not in A253 and SGT cells, derived from human submandibular carcinoma and salivary gland adenocarcinoma. However, the underlying mechanism of this suppression has remained elusive. In this study, we examined whether M3R function is suppressed by epigenetic modulation of the receptor. To this end, we investigated the mRNA transcript and protein levels of the M3R using reverse transcriptase-PCR, western blot, and confocal microscopy analyses. Global DNA methylation assays, methylation-specific PCR, and bisulfite sequencing were also performed to understand the epigenetic status of the M3R CpG island. We found that A253 cells expressed all subtypes of muscarinic receptors, except M3R, on the mRNA level. However, treatment of cells with 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-Aza-CdR), a DNA-demethylating agent, increased the expression levels of both M3R mRNA transcript and protein in proportion to the incubation period. 5-Aza-CdR completely restored the carbachol-induced calcium response, which was not observed in untreated A253 cells. In untreated A253 cells, all CG pairs from the 1st to 14th were methylated and 5-Aza-CdR treatment demethylated one of the methylated CG pairs. We also examined the methylation pattern of M3R CpG island in human cancer tissue. Interestingly, the result was very similar to those of A253 cells. All CG pairs in M3R CpG island were also methylated. Another salivary gland tumor cell line, SGT, also showed the similar methylation pattern, heavy methylation in M3R CpG island. It is concluded that CpG island in M3R is hypermethylated in cancer cell lines and human cancer. Our results further suggest that 5-Aza-CdR could potentially be used to restore the function of M3R, suppressed in some cancer cell types.</P>

Genomics and expression analysis of DHHC-cysteine-rich domain S-acyl transferase protein family in apple

        Ruirui Xu,Yuemin Zhang,Meihong Sun,Xiuyan Zhao,Nan Xu,Xiaocui Luo 한국유전학회 2016 Genes & Genomics Vol.38 No.8

S-acylation is one of a group of lipid modifications that occurs on eukaryotic proteins, mediated by DHHC-CRD-containing proteins, which plays an important role in regulating the membrane association, trafficking and function of target proteins. Although genome-wide identification of PAT family has been carried out in yeast, mice, humans and Arabidopsis, little is known about apple PAT genes. In this study, a total of 33 putative apple PAT proteins, containing DHHC-CRD by domain analysis, have been identified, and were classified into three groups according to the phylogenetic analysis of PAT proteins in apple and Arabidopsis. More complex TMDs in the most MdPATs revealed the PM location of the gene family. Gene structure, gene chromosomal location and paralogs analysis of MdPAT genes within the apple genome demonstrated that tandem and segmental duplications, as well as whole genome duplications, have likely contributed to the expansion and evolution of the PAT gene family in apple. According to the microarray and expressed sequence tag (ESTs) analysis, the different expression patterns indicate that they may play different roles during fruit development and rootstock-scion interactions process. Moreover, PATs were performed expression profile analyses in different tissues, indicating that the PATs are involved in various aspects of physiological and developmental processes of apple. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a genome-wide analysis of the apple PAT gene family, and this genomic analysis of apple DHHCCRD PAT genes provides the first step towards a functional study of this gene family in apple.

Study on the Reinforcement Mechanism of Graphene Oxide for Non-asbestos Gasket Composites

        LI Yuxian,LIU Meihong,GU Wenjuan,Wang Juan,SUN Junfeng 한국유체기계학회 2021 International journal of fluid machinery and syste Vol.14 No.1

To improve the quality of the gasket and reduce leakage, non-asbestos gasket composites reinforced by graphene oxide(GO) were prepared. The effect of GO on the microscopic physics and chemistry of slurry suspension and the macroscopic properties of gasket composites were investigated. The microstructure and morphology were analyzed by Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FSEM). The results show that the addition of GO improves the microscopic interaction during the wet forming process, which improves the macro properties of the gasket material. The enhancement can be ascribe to the crumpled morphology of GO and the presence of many oxygen-containing functional groups, which enhance the microscopic mechanical interlocking and interfacial interactions of the composite gasket material.
