DI (direct injection) systems have been studied to improve thermal efficiency of gasoline engines. The analysis of spray behavior is important to examine the combustion characteristics of DI gasoline engines because fuel-air mixture formation is controlled by spray characteristics and gas motion. In this study, the characteristics of a fan-shaped spray, such as the droplet size, its velocity and the droplet-size distribution were simultaneously measured on a 2D plane by using an improved ILIDS (Interferometric Laser Imaging for Droplet Sizing) method. As a result, interesting relationships between the droplets diameter and the velocity were found. In addition, numerical analysis of a fan-shaped spray was conducted and the results were compared to the measured results. In numerical analysis, the nozzle internal flow was predicted by using VOF (Volume of Fluid) model that can simulate the two-phase flow inside the nozzle to give the liquid film formation process outside the nozzle. Using the results of VOF model for the initial conditions, numerical analysis of the spray by DDM (Discrete Droplet Model) was carried out to examine the droplets breakup process. As a result, SMD has become small with going away from the nozzle center section that is the same tendency as the experiment.

Sustainable art project, ‘Himming’, has started in Himi-city, Toyama, since 2004. The creative process is steadily and slowly in progress to originate our own space by ourselves. Masato Nakamura has been producing a “social operating system” in this small town which has no art museums or galleries, working together with the town to achieve their new personality and the aspect.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical characteristics of youngpatients with stage I clear-cell carcinoma (CCC) and evaluate the prognostic factors andeffects of fertility-sparing surgery (FSS) using propensity score (PS) adjustment. Methods: We conducted a regional multi-institutional study between 1986 and 2017. Among4,277 patients with ovarian tumor, clinical and pathological data of 103 fertile women withstage I unilateral CCC were collected. We evaluated survival and reproductive outcomesin these patients. Additionally, to analyze the effects of FSS, baseline imbalance betweenpatients with and those without FSS was adjusted with an inverse probability of treatmentweighting using PSs involving independent clinical variables. Results: The mean patient age was 39.4 years, and the median follow-up period for survivingpatients was 55.6 months. In multivariate analysis, stage IC2/IC3 (vs. IA/IC1) was the onlyindependent prognostic factor for recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS). FSS was not associated with poorer prognosis when compared to the prognosis with nonpreservingsurgery with regard to both RFS and OS. No statistical difference in survivaloutcomes between FSS and other approaches was confirmed after PS adjustment. Amongpatients who underwent FSS, four deliveries with healthy neonates were noted without anygestational complications. Conclusion: FSS can be considered in stage I CCC, specifically in stage IA and IC1 patientswho strongly desire to have children in the future. Further clinical research is needed toclarify the optimal application of FSS for CCC.

In Korea, mass mortality of Quercus mongolica trees has become obvious since 2004. Raffaelea quercus-mongolicae is believed to be a causal fungus contributing the mortality. To evaluate the pathogenicity of the fungus to the trees, the fungus was multiple- and single-inoculated to the seedlings and twigs of the mature trees, respectively. In both the inoculations, the fungus was reisolated from more than 50% of inoculated twigs and seedlings. In the single inoculations, proportions of the transverse area of non-conductive sapwood at inoculation points and vertical lengths of discoloration expanded from the points were significantly different between the inoculation treatment and the control. In the multiple inoculations, no mortality was confirmed among the seedlings examined. These results showed that R. quercus-mongolicae can colonize sapwood, contribute to sapwood discoloration and disrupt sap flows around inoculation sites of Q. mongolica, although the pathogenicity of the fungus was not proven.
Taking Generation as Abduction Seriously
( Masato Ishizaki ),( Akira Ishikawa ) 한국언어정보학회 1992 국제 워크샵 Vol.1992 No.-
This paper introduces ``assumptions``, one-sided mutual beliefs, to construct a bidirectional architec-ture incorporating Hobbs et al.``s abduction. The integration of deductive parsing and abductive semantic interpretation may provide a basis for a bidirectional architecture. However, the idea of cost, the prin-cipal mechanism in Hobbs et al.``s abduction, is not workable for generation because it simply amounts to the assumability of parts of logical forms for the purpose of interpretation. We introduce explicit ``assumptions`` attached to particular expressions so as not only to control generation, but also to lighten the burden of abduction. This paper also discusses implementation issues on the data structure and the generation algorithm.
