DIESEL SPRAY CHARACTERISTICS AND ITS COMBUSTION
Masataka ARAI 한국자동차공학회 2005 한국자동차공학회 Workshop Vol.2005 No.-
Spray formation mechanism of a diesel spray and its combustion process were reviewed. Spray formation mechanism of the diesel spray was controlled by a cavitation inside an injection nozzle. The Sauter mean diameter of a diesel spray became small when the cavitation occurred in the nozzle and it resulted in a complete spray. The empirical equations of the Sauter mean diameter were shown with the discussion of the cavitation. The spray tip penetrations of free and wall impingement sprays were introduced with the equations. The spray tip penetration was discussed with air entrainment process. Impingement spray was discussed with penetration and adhering fuel on the wall. High pressure injection spray was introduced with its spray characteristics. Spray-to spray interaction was clearly shown by many photographs to propose a new spray system. Evaporation process on an impingement wall was duscused. Ignition delay and the empirical equations of it were reviewed. The ignition delay was greatly affected by the spray movement and surrounding conditions. Wall and residual gas effects on the ignition delay were reviewed. The OH flame kernel and hot flame kernel observed at the ignition of impingement spray were explained. Alos, effect of injection pressure and effect of wall impingement on flame development process was explained.

Purpose; It is important to maintain continuity of health care services when disaster occur. Countries such as Japan that are characterized by a high risk of natural disasters should take countermeasures against healthcare service disruptions. To enhance healthcare services`` continuity in area, healthcare institutions should consider the relationship between municipalities and healthcare-related organizations. In addition, it is necessary to evaluate current performance of their system and improve towards upcoming disturbance. This study focuses on evaluation for resilience of area resilience of healthcare services with the consideration for community resilience assessment and SERVQUAL. Methodology/Approach; To clarify Business continuity management system (BCMS) that includes every stakeholder in the healthcare services community, we defined necessary functional areas in disaster base medical centers. We derived assessment items thorough structures based on the previous literature while incorporating the viewpoint of the healthcare services field. Moreover, we compared these items with the existing evaluation items thorough literature survey such as community resilience assessment system and SERVQUAL. After development of the evaluation items, we discussed with managers of health care institution and develop measurement and improvement plan. Findings; As a result, we developed evaluation items of resilience for area healthcare services including disaster base medical centers. The items are organized with the structure, process and outcome which is proposed by Donabedian. With the consideration of SERVQUAL, evaluation of area resilience should include the management of the perception among citizen since the service level during disaster is quite different from usual state. Research limitations/implications; The assessment items for area healthcare services is not applied for the evaluation of the area. With the quality management system for health care model, the outcomes of this study will be useful for business continuity in various regions since it unites the management system. In addition, the study contributes to making a safer and more secure society.

Black soybeans (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) are known to be rich in polyphenols, including anthocyanins, and they have been consumed since ancient times for their beneficial effects on health. In addition, it has been reported that black soybean (BS) seed coat may ameliorate obesity and insulin resistance. In the present study, we administered BS extract to type 2 diabetics for 2 months to investigate the effects of BS on glycemic control and lipid metabolism parameters. In addition, we administered BS and antihyperlipidemic agent, fenofibrate, to patients with type 2 diabetes complicated by postprandial hyperlipidemia for 2 months and assessed the combined effects of fenofibrate and BS on serum lipid profile. The results showed that administration of the BS alone had no effect on the blood glucose or lipid levels, but that administration of fenofibrate alone and fenofibrate in combination with the BS significantly lowered their serum triglyceride (TG) level at fasting state, and the percent decrease in the serum TG level after combined administration was significantly higher than in the subjects who received fenofibrate alone. Furthermore, the serum LDL cholesterol concentration, which did not decrease when fenofibrate was administered alone, decreased significantly when the BS and fenofibrate were administered in combination. These results suggest that combined administration of the BS with fenofibrate enhanced the antihyperlipidemic action of fenofibrate, and the results of this study demonstrated the usefulness of the BS in clinical practice.
Reset Control of Pressure-Drop Oscillations in Boiling Micro-Channel Systems
Masataka Iwai,Toshimitsu Ushio 제어로봇시스템학회 2016 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2016 No.10
A micro-channel has become a popular scheme in high heat flux electronics cooling. But boiling flow instabilities can occur in these cooling systems with micro-channel heat sinks. These pressure-drop oscillations are limit cycles. We model the system by a van der Pol equation with a control input, which is represented by a control system with a nonlinear feedback element. Using a describing function, we approximate the pressure-drop oscillation in the boiling micro-channel system controlled by a reset controller. Then we obtain a control parameter region where the pressure-drop oscillation is eliminated by the controllerBy simulation, we also show that the pressure-drop oscillation is eliminated by the reset controller.
