Marully Tanujaya,Huynh Khac Minh Khoi,Dong-Hee Lee,Jin-Woo Ahn 대한전기학회 2009 대한전기학회 학술대회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.10
In the high speed applications, 6/2 and 4/2 type of SRMs(Switched Reluctance Motor) are much used for the less switching frequency. However, conventional 6/2 and 4/2 have inherent torque dead-band which increases the torque ripple and mechanical vibration. In order to reduce the torque dead-band, variable air-gap and tapper rotor can be adopted in high speed applications. This paper presents a torque characteristics of a high speed SRM according to rotor and stator pole structures. In this paper, various modified rotor structures are presented to reduce torque dead-band, and the torque characteristics are analyzed according to rotor shape, pole arc and pitch ratio of the rotor structure in 6/2 and 4/2 SRM. From the analysis results, torque ripple and torque dead-band can be obvious according to rotor structure. And the proper structure can be selected according to motor speed and torque ripple. A 2-D FEM(Finite Element Method) is used for the analysis of the torque characteristics of a various high speed SRM structure.

Design improvement of 13㎾ SRM for Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) in term to reduce the torque ripple is present in this paper. The new design of 13k SRM intends to improve the existing SRM machine performance in the neighborhood electric vehicle. Initially, the existing performance was carried out using the FEA procedure. Then the dynamic region of rotor pole arc was applied to arrive at the optimum design by tuning the geometry to achieve the best output characteristic. The characteristic of new proposed machine have been studied and the results of this study are presented in this paper.

Marully Tanujaya,이동희(Dong-Hee Lee),안진우(Jin-Woo Ahn) 대한전기학회 2010 대한전기학회 학술대회 논문집 Vol.2010 No.10
This paper deals with optimization of 6/4 Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) torque with regard to the rotor structure for NEV application. The optimization is done by divided rotor surface into small independent surfaces. The small independent surface will adjust automatically according to the desire output torque. Different with the pervious approach [1], in this new approach 'back and forward' method is undertaken in order to produce smoother output torque and lower torque ripple. At the end. the finite element method is employed in order to predict the performance of output torque.

Marully Tanujaya,Dong-Hee Lee,Jin-Woo Ahn 전력전자학회 2011 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2011 No.5
This paper describes, design and modeling procedure of a novel switched reluctance motor for neighborhoods electric vehicle. The proposed motor employed six stator and twelve rotor poles (6/12) with double stators configuration. Six stator poles divided into three independent groups and each group consists of two connected poles with no connection yoke among them. The proposed SRM employed three-phase sources with short magnetic flux. The construction and principle of the proposed motor are also described in this paper. Furthermore, Finite Element Method (FEM) used to predict the performance of the proposed motor. The result showed that the proposed motor offers a better performance in term of power and torque density.
A Novel 6/5 Switched Reluctance Motor with Short Flux Path: Concept, Design and Analysis
Tanujaya, Marully,Lee, Dong-Hee,An, Young-Joo,Ahn, Jin-Woo Journal of International Conference on Electrical 2012 Journal of international Conference on Electrical Vol.1 No.1
A novel 6/5 switched reluctance motor (SRM) with short flux path is presented in this paper. The concept of this proposed motor is a novel SR motor with six stator and five rotor poles. The stator is constructed with three independent and physically separate C-core segments, and the rotor is composed of five poles. This motor, with a new selection for the number of stator/rotor poles, achieves a short flux path, which reduces the magnetomotive force required to drive the motor. To verify the performance of the proposed motor, a comparison with conventional SR motors with the same dimensions is executed. The comparison demonstrates that the proposed motor offers better performance in terms of maximum torque production. Furthermore, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Matlab/Simulink software are used to predict and simulate the performance of the proposed motor.
