      • A Comparative Study of Capability Poverty Status In Iranian Hotel and Hospital Service Sectors

        Manouchehr Jahanian,Mohammad Hossein,Imani Khoshkhou,Ebtehal zandi 세계문화관광학회 2011 Conference Proceedings Vol.12 No.-

Capability poverty which assesses individuals' privileges was first introduced by Amarty a Sen in mid 1980s. This approach focuses mainly on developing human potentials and acquiring the ability to lead an honorable life. Therefore having access to proper nutrition and housing as well as health and education services being involved in decision making and maintaining dignity have been highlighted in capability poverty approach. In this approach poverty doesn't mean having no income however it is defined as being deprived of individual and social capabilities the solution of which lies in developing such human competence. Consequently the followers of this approach evaluate poverty using human and social indices. This Article aims to compare various aspects of human development among employees of hotel and hospital sectors of Tehran in o rder to investigate capability poverty status and propose suggestions to improve the different aspects of human development and consequently reduce capability poverty. To this end Inglehart et al.'s perspectives on human development aspects and indices have been used as the theoretical basis of the study. To conduct this survey questionnaires have been given out among 200 employees of similar service sectors of hotels and hospitals who have been chose via multi-stage sampling method in 2010.The findings of this study demonstrate that employees of hotels service sectors gained a higher score in the studied aspects of human development _indicating capability poverty status comparing to those who work in the similar service sectors of hospitals and benefited from a better position concerning capability poverty.

Do Competing Health Insurance Licensors Provide Pro-patient Effects?

        Manouchehr Mokhtari,Doha Abdelhamid,Mamak Asgtari,Edmond D. Shenassa 한국국제경제학회 2015 International Economic Journal Vol.29 No.4

This paper shows that competition among health insurance licensors has strong pro-patient effects, if inter-regulatory competition is allowed. The pro-patient effects of the competition among health insurance licensors do not depend on the need for the patients to form or exercise their political influence, such as, forming cooperatives or voting, as suggested by Backer's pressure group theory. When inter-jurisdictional transactions are allowed, endogenous policy making ensures that the health care licensors pursue public interests at no costs to patients.

More relations between $\lambda$-labeling and Hamiltonian paths with emphasis on line graph of bipartite multigraphs

        Manouchehr Zaker 대한수학회 2022 대한수학회보 Vol.59 No.1

This paper deals with the $\lambda$-labeling and $L(2,1)$-coloring of simple graphs. A $\lambda$-labeling of a graph $G$ is any labeling of the vertices of $G$ with different labels such that any two adjacent vertices receive labels which differ at least two. Also an $L(2,1)$-coloring of $G$ is any labeling of the vertices of $G$ such that any two adjacent vertices receive labels which differ at least two and any two vertices with distance two receive distinct labels. Assume that a partial $\lambda$-labeling $f$ is given in a graph $G$. A general question is whether $f$ can be extended to a $\lambda$-labeling of $G$. We show that the extension is feasible if and only if a Hamiltonian path consistent with some distance constraints exists in the complement of $G$. Then we consider line graph of bipartite multigraphs and determine the minimum number of labels in $L(2,1)$-coloring and $\lambda$-labeling of these graphs. In fact we obtain easily computable formulas for the path covering number and the maximum path of the complement of these graphs. We obtain a polynomial time algorithm which generates all Hamiltonian paths in the related graphs. A special case is the Cartesian product graph $K_n\Box K_n$ and the generation of $\lambda$-squares.

Creep analysis of a rotating functionally graded simple blade: steady state analysis

Manouchehr Mohammad Hosseini Mirzaei,Mohammad Arefi,Abbas Loghman 국제구조공학회 2019 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.33 No.3

Initial thermo-elastic and steady state creep deformation of a rotating functionally graded simple blade is studied using first-order shear deformation theory. A variable thickness model for cantilever beam has been considered. The blade geometry and loading are defined as functions of length so that one can define his own blade profile and loading using any arbitrary function. The blade is subjected to a transverse distributed load, an inertia body force due to rotation and a distributed temperature field due to a thermal gradient between the tip and the root. All mechanical and thermal properties except Poisson's ratio are assumed to be longitudinally variable based on the volume fraction of reinforcement. The creep behaviour is modelled by Norton's law. Considering creep strains in stress strain relation, Prandtl-Reuss relations, Norton' law and effective stress relation differential equation in term of effective creep strain is established. This differential equation is solved numerically. By effective creep strain, steady state stresses and deflections are obtained. It is concluded that reinforcement particle size and form of distribution of reinforcement has significant effect on the steady state creep behavior of the blade.

Time-dependent creep analysis of a functionally graded beam with trapezoidal cross section using first-order shear deformation theory

Manouchehr Mohammad Hosseini Mirzaei,Abbas Loghman,Mohammad Arefi 국제구조공학회 2019 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.30 No.6

Time-dependent creep analysis of a rotating functionally graded cantilever beam with trapezoidal longitudinal cross section subjected to thermal and inertia loading is investigated using first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The model described in this paper is a simple simulation of a turbine blade working under creep condition. The material is a metal based composite reinforced by a ceramic where the creep properties of which has been described by the Sherby’s constitutive model. All mechanical and thermal properties except Poisson’s ratio are assumed to be variable longitudinally based on the volume fraction of constituent. The principle of virtual work as well as first order shear deformation theory is used to derive governing equations. Longitudinal distribution of displacements and stresses are investigated for various volume fractions of reinforcement. Method of successive elastic solution is employed to obtain history of stresses and creep deformations. It is found that stresses and displacements approach their steady state values after 40000 hours. The results presented in this paper can be used for selection of appropriate longitudinal distribution of reinforcement to achieve the desired stresses and displacements.

NEOCAPTURE: REGULATORY COMPETITION IN AN OPEN MARKET WORLD

Manouchehr Mokhtari,Doha Abdelhamid 한국국제경제학회 2008 International Economic Journal Vol.22 No.1

This paper shows that inter-regulatory competition can have powerful pro-consumer effects in an open economy world even when the consumers have little political influence. These findings overturn the welfare implications of capture theories that show that regulators do not vigorously pursue public interests. The paper also points to the kinds of markets where the political competition has more or less powerful effects (fixed cost technology case). Since markets have become more integrated over time, there are obvious implications for the evolution of regulation.

Do Wages and International Trade Follow an Equilibrium Path?

( Manouchehr Mokhtari ) 세종대학교 경제통합연구소 1995 Journal of Economic Integration Vol.10 No.2

This paper presents an empirical analysis of the factor price equalization theorem (FPE) for 16 OECD countries. The paper demonstrates that the dispersion of wages in the OECD countries follows a non-stationary process. Nonetheless, the wages tend to converge as trade expands. The results also indicate that wage dispersion in the short-run responds in an asymmetric manner to trade expansion depending upon the source of this expansion. In the long-run, estimates show that increases in both exports and imports lead to wage convergence among the OECD countries. This result supports the FPE theorem. [JEL.: F00,F1, F15,J30, C00, C22]

        SYNCHRONIZED COMPONENTS OF A SUBSHIFT

Shahamat, Manouchehr Korean Mathematical Society 2022 대한수학회지 Vol.59 No.1

We introduce the notion of a minimal synchronizing word; that is a synchronizing word whose proper subwords are not synchronized. This has been used to give a new shorter proof for a theorem in [6]. Also, the common synchronized components of a subshift and its derived set have been characterized.

      • Diagnostic Value of Fecal Calprotectin as a Screening Biomarker for Gastrointestinal Malignancies

Khoshbaten, Manouchehr,Pishahang, Parinaz,Nouri, Mohammad,Lashkari, Alireza,Alizadeh, Mahasti,Rostami-Nejad, Mohammad Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.4

Background: Calprotectin in feces seems to be a more sensitive marker for gastrointestinal (GI) cancers than fecal occult blood, but its specificity may be too low for screening average risk populations. This study aims at evaluating the diagnostic value of fecal calprotectin as a screening biomarker for GI malignancies. Materials and Methods: In a case-control study, 100 patients with GI malignancies (50 patients with colorectal cancer and 50 patients with gastric cancer) and 50 controls were recruited in Tabriz Imam Reza and Sina hospitals during a 24-month period. One to two weeks after the last endoscopy/colonoscopy, fecal specimens were collected by the patients and examined by ELISA method for quantitative measurement of calprotectin content. The results were compared between the three groups. Results: The mean fecal calprotectin level was $109.1{\pm}105.3$ (2.3-454.3, median:74), $241.1{\pm}205.2$ (3.4-610.0, median:19.3) and $45.9{\pm}55.1{\mu}g/g$ (1.3-257.1, median:19.3) in gastric cancer, colorectal cancer and control group, respectively, the differences being significant (p<0.001) and remaining after adjustment for age. The optimal cut-off point for fecal calprotectin was ${\geq}75.8{\mu}g/g$ for distinguishing colorectal cancer from normal cases (sensitivity and specificity of 80% and 84%, respectively). This value was ${\geq}41.9{\mu}g/g$ for distinguishing gastric cancer from normal cases (sensitivity and specificity of 62%). Conclusions: Our results revealed that fecal calprotectin might be a useful and non-invasive biomarker for distinguishing colorectal cancer from non-malignant GI conditions. However, due to low sensitivity and specificity, this biomarker may not help physicians distinguishing gastric cancer cases from healthy subjects.

Three dimensional static and dynamic analysis of two dimensional functionally graded annular sector plates

Kamran Asemi,Manouchehr Salehi,Mojtaba Sadighi 국제구조공학회 2014 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.51 No.6

In this paper, three dimensional static and dynamic analyses of two dimensional functionally graded annular sector plates have been investigated. The material properties vary through both the radial and axial directions continuously. Graded finite element and Newmark direct integration methods have been used to solve the 3D-elasticity equations in time and space domains. The effects of power law exponents and different boundary conditions on the behavior of FGM annular sector plate have been investigated. Results show that using 2D-FGMs and graded elements have superiority over the homogenous elements and 1D-FGMs. The model has been compared with the result of a 1D-FGM annular sector plate and it shows good agreement.
