        POINTWISE CROSS-SECTION-BASED ON-THE-FLY RESONANCE INTERFERENCE TREATMENT WITH INTERMEDIATE RESONANCE APPROXIMATION

        The effective cross sections (XSs) in the direct whole core calculation code nTRACER are evaluated by the equivalence theory-based resonance-integral-table method using the WIMS-based library as an alternative to the subgroup method. The background XSs, as well as the Dancoff correction factors, were evaluated by the enhanced neutron-current method. A method, with pointwise microscopic XSs on a union-lethargy grid, was used for the generation of resonance-interference factors (RIFs) for mixed resonant absorbers. This method was modified by the intermediate-resonance approximation by replacing the potential XSs for the non-absorbing moderator nuclides with the background XSs and neglecting the resonance-elastic scattering. The resonance-escape probability was implemented to incorporate the energy self-shielding effect in the spectrum. The XSs were improved using the proposed method as compared to the narrow resonance infinite massbased method. The RIFs were improved by 1% in 235U, 7% in 239Pu, and >2% in 240Pu. To account for thermal feedback, a new feature was incorporated with the interpolation of pre-generated RIFs at the multigroup level and the results compared with the conventional resonance-interference model. This method provided adequate results in terms of XSs and k-eff. The results were verified first by the comparison of RIFs with the exact RIFs, and then comparing the XSs with the McCARD calculations for the homogeneous configurations, with burned fuel containing a mixture of resonant nuclides at different burnups and temperatures. The RIFs and XSs for the mixture showed good agreement, which verified the accuracy of the RIF evaluation using the proposed method. The method was then verified by comparing the XSs for the virtual environment for reactor applicationbenchmark pin-cell problem, as well as the heterogeneous pin cell containing burned fuel with McCARD. The method works well for homogeneous, as well as heterogeneous configurations.

        The paper presents a fast video stitching algorithm for fixed or slowly moving multiple videos. Video stitching from unaligned capturing devices is challenging process as it requires synchronization in time, spatial, and color domain. The proposed stabilization algorithm obtains in-video motions of each video and applies them into registration information in stitching process to avoid frame-by-frame re-registration.

        연령대에 따른 여성의 결혼만족도 차이 및 영향요인 비교

        본 연구는 여성정책연구원의 제1차 여성가족패널자료를 사용한 연구로 30, 40, 50, 60대의 연령대 별 여성의 결혼만족도와 결혼만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인의 차이 및 영향요인을 비교분석하였다. 결혼만족도에 영향을 미치는 요소는 크게 부부관계 외적 요소와 부부관계 요소의 둘로 구분하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 대상자는 30대여성 1200명, 40대 989명, 50대 368명, 60대 64명이다. 연구결과에 의하면 30대 여성의 경우 다른 연령대보다 결혼만족도가 높게 나타나고 있으며 40대도 50대나 60대보다 결혼만족도가 높게 나타나고 있다. 연구결과에 의하면 연령대 별로 남편과의 관계 및 인식은 모두 결혼만족도에 가장 중요한 영향요인으로 나타나지만 그 외의 영향요인은 연령대에 따라 다르게 나타나고 있다. 30대의 경우 부부관계요소인 활동공유, 가사분담만족, 남편의 육아 및 가사시간 등이 모두 결혼만족도에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 40대의 경우 가사부담만족과 영화관람 등의 활동공유는 결혼만족도에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으며 본인의 직장이 있는 것과 없는 것의 결혼만족도에 미치는 영향에는 차이가 있었다. 남편의 가사분담 만족은 30대와 40대 여성들에게는 중요한 결혼만족도의 영향요인으로 작용하고 있으나 50대 여성들에게는 중요한 영향요인으로 나타나고 있지 않다. 50대의 경우 시부모와의 갈등은 결혼 만족도를 낮추었으며 시댁가족과의 만남은 결혼만족도를 높였다. 50대의 경우 남편과의 관계 및 인식을 제외하고는 부부관계요소는 결혼만족도에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았지만 시부모갈등이나 시댁가족만남 등의 부부관계 외적요인들은 결혼만족도에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 그러나 본 연구의 60대 이상 연구대상이 많지 않아 60대 이상의 연구결과를 일반화하는 데는 한계가 있다. This study uses the first year women`s panel data of Korean Women`s Development Institute. This study compares the marital satisfaction, the factors of marital satisfaction and the effect on marital satisfaction by age cohort such as 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. As two subsets of marital satisfaction, the outer factors and factors of couple relations are used. The sample size of this study is as follows: 30s(1,200), 40s(989), 50s(368) and 60s(64). According to the research result the marital satisfaction of 30s is the highest. Also, the marital satisfaction of 40s is higher than those of 50s and 60s. The relation and recognition about a husband is a significant factor of affecting on marital satisfaction for all ages. However, factors affecting the marital satisfaction vary by age cohort. For 30s and 40s, the satisfaction of the division of labor is an important factor but for 50s it is not. For 50s, the conflict with the parent-in-law reduces the marital satisfaction but getting together with the in-laws increases the marital satisfaction.

        Solubility modulation of bicalutamide using porous silica

        Objective of the present study was to explore the potential of porous silica (AEROPERL 300 Pharma)in modulating dissolution kinetics of poorly water soluble drug bicalutamide (BCL). The drug release from the developed formulation was found to be significantly higher as compared to neat BCL. This improved release kinetics of BCL may be attributed to high surface area, improved wettability and decreased crystallinity. Solid state characterization of the developed formulation was carried out with respect to IR, XRPD, SEM, DSC and dissolution. The proposed system showed a significant capability for the solubility enhancement of BCL. The dissolution profile from BCL-AEROPERL 300 Pharma (AP) system was fitted into various drug release kinetics models, in order to understand the BCL release mechanism.

        Reconstructing Her-Story: The interdisciplinary method applied to East Asia at the Ewha Global Empowerment Program

        ABSTRACT Before male-dominated societies came into being, there were egalitarian societies of peace, matriarchies, in which the mothering female was at the center. These were peaceful: graves from this period did not show weapons, settlements were not walled for defensive reasons and art does not depict weapons. These female oriented societies used a lost language of symbols that were mostly not understood by traditional science. You have to deconstruct His-Story in order to reconstruct Her-Story. An interdisciplinary method is used here to reconstruct and remember this lost language of symbols. Retracing sacred feminine art or ‘Venus Art’ can provide a great leap forward in retrieving women friendly egalitarian cultures. This new Her-Story approach maps the contribution of woman to evolution and brings to an end a male world history without women.

        Preparation and evaluation of carbamazepine loaded fibrous electrospun mats of starch

        The preset work deals with preparation of fibrous electrospun mats of starch (FEMOS) carrier, from naı¨ve starch, through a process of electrospinning. The developed FEMOS was explored for the solubility enhancement of poorly water soluble drug carbamazepine. Solid state characterization was performed with respect to Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, contact angle determination, dissolution kinetics, and differential scanning calorimetry. Rapid release profiles were observed when the carbamazepine was loaded on FEMOS. This effect may be due to high surface area, improved wettability and reduced crystallinity of the loaded drug on FEMOS. The developed formulation was found to have a similar in vivo performance as compared to marketed formulation TegretolⓇ.

      • Why the fire ant drives basic and applied research

        Insect neuropeptides are involved in most physiological processes in insects, such as diuresis, ecdysis, and pheromone biosynthesis. The peptides perform these functions as ligands for G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) that trigger specific biochemical functions. Our research in this area has focused on the Pheromone Biosynthesis Activating Neuropeptide (PBAN) and its GPCR in fire ants. I will show that PBAN is involved in fire ant pheromone production and interestingly, also in important functions of all colony life stages. Since many neuropeptides play critical roles in insect development and reproduction, the peptide hormones and their receptors are viewed as promising targets for novel biologically-based control. These possibilities will be illustrated. Secondly, the use of venom alkaloids, cuticular hydrocarbons, and pheromones as useful taxonomic characters will be illustrated using Solenopsis species in the USA and in South America.
