        Composition and diversity of ground-dwelling arthropods at Chiayi Agricultural long-term ecological research site in the Southern Taiwan

        In this study, the canola oil and alcohol were used as attractants in pitfall traps to help collect grounddwellingarthropods. Two small agricultural long-term ecological research fields at Chiayi AgriculturalExperimental Station were chosen to execute sampling activities. There were 14,509 individuals of 182species (including morphospecies) in 18 taxa in the collections. The most abundant taxon was Hymenoptera,followed by Coleoptera, Collembola, Diptera, Orthoptera, and Acari. Regardless to the differenceof the sampling fields, canola oil trap was significantly attractive to ants (Formicidae, Hymenoptera). Onthe other hand, the alcohol trap was more effective in attracting the Coleoptera. According to the diversityanalysis, the results indicated that the diversity indexes were affected by the main effect forattractant. In addition, the interactions between the farming operation and samplings and between theattractant and samplings were also factors to influence the diversity of ground-dwelling arthropods inthe long-term ecological research site of Chiayi Station.

        Adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control for electric power steering system

        The Electric power steering (EPS) system, a typical non-linear system, is easy to be influenced by parameters perturbation and disturbance of the road. Traditional linear control method based on a simplified linear model such as PID control cannot reach good dynamic performance. To reduce the influence of parameters perturbation and disturbance of the road and enhance the robustness of the system, an Adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control (AFSMC) method is proposed in this paper. First, fuzzy sliding mode control is employed to enhance the dynamic performance of the system. Then, to improve the precision of the controller, genetic algorithm is used to optimize the control rules which are essential to fuzzy control. The experimental results on non-linear EPS model demonstrate that AFSMC is more stable than Sliding mode control (SMC) method and more efficient to the non-linear system than SFPID control method. They can also prove that AFSMC can provide a stable driving in the presence of parameters perturbation and disturbance of the road.

        Low-Frequency Compensation of Piezoelectric Accelerometers for Motion Control Systems

        This paper describes how piezoelectric accelerometers can be applied to motion control systems for performance enhancements. Piezoelectric accelerometers are known for their wide frequency ranges to sense dynamic acceleration. However, they are unable to measure static and quasi-static acceleration. Since positional sensors generally exist in motion control systems, this paper presents two acceleration observers that fuse piezoelectric accelerometers and positional sensors and are able to achieve high-quality observation of acceleration, including static and quasi-static components. The proposed observers are applied to a robotic manipulator, and experimental results confi rm feasibility and eff ectiveness of the proposed acceleration observers.

      • A LSTM-based method for intelligent prediction on mechanical response of precast nodular piles

        The determination for bearing capacity of precast nodular piles is conventionally time-consuming and high-cost by using numerous experiments and empirical methods. This study proposes an intelligent method to evaluate the bearing capacity and shaft resistance of the nodular piles with high efficiency based on long short-term memory (LSTM) approach. A series of field tests are first designed to measure the axial force, shaft resistance and displacement of the combined nodular piles under different loadings, in comparison with the single pre-stressed high-strength concrete piles. The test results confirm that the combined nodular piles could provide larger ultimate bearing capacity (more than 100%) than the single pre-stressed highstrength concrete piles. Both the LSTM-based method and empirical methods are used to calculate the shift resistance of the combined nodular piles. The results show that the LSTM-based method has a high-precision estimation on shaft resistance, not only for the ultimate load but also for the working load.

      • A New Extension of Cauchy–Born Rule for Monolayer Crystal Films

        <P>By combining with the physical concept of inscribed surface, the standard Cauchy–Born rule (CBR) is straightly extended to have a rigorous and accurate atomistic continuum theory for the monolayer crystal films. Resorting to using Tersoff–Brenner potential, the present theory to graphite sheet and single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) is applied to evaluate the mechanical properties. The results are validated by the comparison with previously reported studies.</P>

        An inscribed surface model for the elastic properties of armchair carbon nanotube

        With special physical structure and novel properties, single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) have attracted much attention in science and engineering. In order to develop a direct link between continuum analysis and atomistic simulation to investigate the mechanical properties of CNTs more effectively, an innovatory methodology to construct continuum model from the inner (inscribed surface) to the outer (covalent bond) is developed. Present study begins from studying Cauchy-Born rule. The differential geometry concept of inscription and the mean value theorem are adopted to modify the Cauchy-Born rule, and then this modified Cauchy-Born rule can build a hyper-elastic inscribed surface constitutive model. Resorting to using Tersoff-Brenner potential, the current theory to armchair CNTs is applied to evaluate the mechanical properties. The results are validated by the comparison with previously reported studies.

        Path Loss Exponent Estimation for Indoor Wireless Sensor Positioning

        Rapid developments in wireless sensor networks have extended many applications, hence, many studies have developed wireless sensor network positioning systems for indoor environments. Among those systems, the Global Position System (GPS) is unsuitable for indoor environments due to Line-Of-Sight (LOS) limitations, while the wireless sensor network is more suitable, given its advantages of low cost, easy installation, and low energy consumption. Due to the complex settings of indoor environments and the high demands for precision, the implementation of an indoor positioning system is difficult to construct. This study adopts a low-cost positioning method that does not require additional hardware, and uses the received signal strength (RSS) values from the receiver node to estimate the distance between the test objects. Since many objects in indoor environments would attenuate the radio signals and cause errors in estimation distances, knowing the path loss exponent (PLE) in an environment is crucial. However, most studies preset a fixed PLE, and then substitute it into a radio propagation loss model to estimate the distance between the test points; such method would lead to serious errors. To address this problem, this study proposes a Path Loss Exponent Estimation Algorithm, which uses only four beacon nodes to construct a radio propagation loss model for an indoor environment, and is able to provide enhanced positioning precision, accurate positioning services, low cost, and high efficiency.

        A Stability-Guaranteed Integral Sliding Disturbance Observer for Systems Suffering from Disturbances with Bounded First Time Derivatives

        This paper presents an integral sliding disturbance observer (I-SDOB) to compensate for unknown disturbances for a class of nonlinear systems. To guarantee the existence of a sliding mode for disturbance estimation, the proposed I-SDOB needs only a small switching gain compared with conventional sliding disturbance observers, which leads to further alleviation of chatter. Moreover, the stability analysis of the controller-observer system is given based on the Lyapunov theory. Applica-tions of the proposed scheme to a two-link robotic manipulator have been conducted, and experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

        青岛市中学生网络成瘾倾向的影响因素研究

        본 연구는 중국 중학생들의 인터넷 중독에 영향을 주는 다양한 요인을 검토하여 중학생들의 올바른 인터넷 사용태도를 확립시키는 데 목적을 둔다. 이를 위하여 본 연구의 조사대상은 중국 청도시에 소재하는 5개 중학교의 각 학년 학생 330명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 회수된 총 310부 중 부적절한 자료를 제외한 300부를 분석자료로 활용하였다. 또한 분석모형에서 가족친밀도와 학교생활만족도를 독립변수로, 인터넷 기대를 매개변수로, 인터넷 중독을 종속변수로 설정하여 수집된 자료에 대해 빈도분석, t-test, 다변량분석과 다중회귀분석, 그리고 Sobel-test를 실시하였으며, 이를 토대로 한 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 조사대상자의 인구사회학 특성 중 성별, 학년 및 성적은 인터넷 중독에 영향을 미쳤으며, 학년이 높을수록, 성적이 나쁠수록, 남학생이 여학생보다 인터넷 중독의 가능성을 더 높게 보였으며 이는 통계적으로 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 조사대상자의 인터넷 사용 특성 중 컴퓨터 설치장소(자기 방), 인터넷 이용 장소(PC방), 인터넷 이용 유형(채팅, 게임) 등은 인터넷 중독에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 조사대상자의 가족친밀도가 인터넷 기대에 음의 영향을 미치는 반면에 학교생활만족도가 인터넷 기대에 영향을 미치지 않는 것을 확인되었다. 넷째, 가족친밀도, 학교생활만족도가 인터넷 중독에 음의 영향을 미치는 반면에 인터넷 기대가 인터넷 중독에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 중국 중학생들의 가족친밀도와 인터넷 중독의 관계에서 인터넷 기대가 부분매개 역할을 하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 반면에 학교생활만족도와 인터넷 중독의 관계에서 인터넷 기대의 매개효과는 없는 것으로 나타났다. This study tried to understand what variables influence the juvenile internet addiction tendency. For this purpose, a survey questionnaire was distributed to 330 students from five middle schools located in Qingdao City, Shan-dong Province, China and 300 questionnaires were used for data analysis. The study used SPSS 21.0 to execute Frequency Analysis, t-test, MANOVA, Multiple Regression Analysis and Sobeltest, entering the juvenile internet addiction tendency as a dependent variable, family relationship intimacy and school life satisfaction as independent variables, while internet expectancy was entered as a mediating variables. The study found the following results. First, significant differences in the degree of internet addiction tendency were found among the participants depending on gender, grade level, and GPA. Secondly, there was statistically significant difference in the degree of internet addiction tendency depending on the places where the internet is installed and used. Thirdly, the lower the degree of family intimacy was related to the more serious the internet addiction tendency. In addition, the lower the school life satisfaction was closely related to the more serious the internet addiction tendency. Finally, Internet expectancy had an indirect effect on the relationship between family relationship and internet addiction tendency.
