        Inheritance and Development of Cultural Heritage of Chinese Architecture - Root-Exploring and Innovation of the Cultural Value of the Arch

        Chinese traditional architecture has a long-dated history. As one of the important architectural style of ancient cultural heritage, archway (square) building used since the Song Dynasty and now is the crowning touch to the composition of architectural space. First, the value of the arch is embodied in the inheritance and development of traditional culture, and cultural development of the arch is closely related to historical and cultural background of Chinese society; Second, as a traditional architectural form, the arch is one of the unique elements in entrance spaces, such as villages, temples, towns, royal gardens, memorial sites, tombs, etc. Meanwhile, the arch has become typical symbol of the entrance to residential area of foreign Chinese. Column, floor and frontal fang and span arch is the basic components of the arch. To cleverly constructed so that the arch stand leaving it emerged actual situation and white silhouette beauty. We can learn construction techniques and layout forms of Chinese traditional architecture, then explore the inheritance and development of the wisdom and culture of Chinese traditional architecture under contemporary perspective though the arch arts. The article takes the design of Baoji City Dai Jia-wan administrative square arch for example, explores the way of combining new technologies with traditional materials, meanwhile achieves harmony between large-scale pure stone arch and contemporary urban space, which is a useful practice about inheritance and innovation of traditional arch arts.

        A Novel Self-Healing Polyurethane with High Transparency and Strength: Effects of Multiple Supermolecular Forces

        It is a considerable challenge for expanding the applications of self-healing polyurethane because of the dilemma in balancing its mechanical and self-healing properties. Herein, a series of self-healing polyurethane systems (PUT-x) with short-range ordered rigid aromatic structures were synthesized by simply adjusting two kinds of diisocyanates, and by ingenious addition of aromatic chain extender. We hope to regulate the π-π interactions and further to manipulate the properties of obtained polyurethanes via adjusting the amount of the benzene rings in the molecular chains of the PUT-x systems. The PUT-5 with decent self-healing ability, optimal mechanical properties, acceptable thermal stability and favorable transparency was selected to incorporate liquid metal and fluorescent powder to fabricate conductive wire and anti-counterfeiting film. Significantly, the liquid metal could be recycled from the conductive wire conveniently without using strong acids or strong bases. Moreover, PUT-5 exemplarily withstood long-term soaking in normal saline, and no deformation could be identified.

        Risk Factors Associated with Pain Severity in Patients with Non-specific Low Back Pain in Southern China

        Study Design: A prospective cross-sectional study. Purpose: To evaluate the risk factors associated with the severity of pain intensity in patients with non-specific low back pain (NSLBP) in Southern China. Overview of Literature: Low back pain (LBP) is the leading cause of activity limitation and work absence throughout the world, so a firm understanding of the risk factor associated with NSLBP can provide early and prompt interventions that are aimed at attaining long-term results. Methods: Participants were recruited from January 2014 to January 2016 and were surveyed using a self-designed questionnaire. Anonymous assessments included Short Form 36-Item Health Survey (SF-36) and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). The association between the severity of NSLBP and these potential risk factors were evaluated. Results: A total of 1,046 NSLBP patients were enrolled. The patients with primary school education, high body mass index (BMI), those exposed to sustained durations of driving and sitting, smoking, recurrent LBP had increased VAS and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) scores with lower SF-36 scores (p <0.01). Workers and drivers compared with waiters and patients who lifted >10 kg objects in a quarter of their work time for >10 years had higher VAS and ODI scores with lower SF-36 scores (p <0.01). Multiple logistic regression showed lower levels of education, LBP for 1–7 days, long-lasting LBP in last year, smoking, long duration driving, and higher BMI were associated with more severe VAS score. Conclusions: The severity of NSLBP is associated with lower levels of education, poor standards of living, heavy physical labor, long duration driving, and sedentary lifestyle. Patients with recurrent NSLBP have more severe pain. Reducing rates of obesity, the duration of heavy physical work, driving or riding, and attenuating the prevalence of sedentary lifestyles and smoking may reduce the prevalence of NSLBP.

      • Synchronous immobilization and conversion of polysulfides on a VO<sub>2</sub>-VN binary host targeting high sulfur load Li-S batteries

        <P>Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries are deemed as one of the most promising next-generation energy storage systems. However, their practical application is hindered by existing drawbacks such as poor cycling life and low Coulombic efficiency due to the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs). We herein present an <I>in situ</I> constructed VO2-VN binary host which combines the merits of ultrafast anchoring (VO2) with electronic conducting (VN) to accomplish smooth immobilization-diffusion-conversion of LiPSs. Such synchronous advantages have effectively alleviated the polysulfide shuttling, promoted the redox kinetics, and hence improved the electrochemical performance of Li-S batteries. As a result, the sulfur cathode based on the VO2-VN/graphene host exhibited an impressive rate capability with ∼1105 and 935 mA h g<SUP>−1</SUP> at 1C and 2C, respectively, and maintained long-term cyclability with a low capacity decay of 0.06% per cycle within 800 cycles at 2C. More remarkably, favorable cyclic stability can be attained with a high sulfur loading (13.2 mg cm<SUP>−2</SUP>). Even at an elevated temperature (50 °C), the cathodes still delivered superior rate capacity. Our work emphasizes the importance of immobilization-diffusion-conversion of LiPSs toward the rational design of high-load and long-life Li-S batteries.</P>

        Thermal analysis for the large precision EDM machine tool considering the spark energy during long-time processing

        Thermal error is a major factor influencing the accuracy of large precision electrical discharge machining (EDM) machine tools, especially when processing continuously for a long time. In this paper, a novel thermal analysis model was set up to identify the static and dynamic thermal behaviour of the large EDM machine tool. The thermal effect of multiple spark discharges is considered. An equivalent heat flux method was proposed to model the intermittent heat flux for the first time. Both the steady and transient analyses were applied to investigate the thermal equilibrium time of critical points. It is found that when the study point is far away from the heat source, the longer thermal equilibrium time is needed. And the thermal equilibrium time of the machine tool was also estimated. Verification experiment has been performed, indicating the simulation accuracy of 87 % on the temperature rise of the electrode. Moreover, on the displacement of the spindle, the simulated result matched with the experimental result in Z direction error of 7 %. Finally, suggestions for reducing the thermal deformation were proposed to further improve the machining accuracy of large EDM machine tools.

        Targeting treatment of bladder cancer using PTK7 aptamer-gemcitabine conjugate

        Gemcitabine (GEM) is one of the first-line chemotherapies for bladder cancer (BC), but the GEMs cannot recognize cancer cells and have a low long-term response rate and high recurrence rate with side effects during the treatment of BC. Targeted transport of GEMs to mediate cytotoxicity to tumor and avoid the systemic side effects remains a challenge in the treatment of BC.Based on a firstly confirmed biomarker in BC-protein tyrosine kinase 7 (PTK7), which is overexpressed on the cell membrane surface in BC cells, a novel targeting system protein tyrosine kinase 7 aptamer-Gemcitabine conjugate (PTK7-GEMs) was designed and synthesized using a specific PTK7 aptamer and GEM through auto-synthesis method to deliver GEM against BC. In addition, the antitumor effects and safety evaluation of PTK7-GEMs was assessed with a series of in vitro and in vivo assays.PTK7-GEMs can specifically bind and enter to BC cells dependent on the expression levels of PTK7 and via the macropinocytosis pathway, which induced cytotoxicity after GEM cleavage from PTK7-GEMs respond to the intracellular phosphatase. Moreover, PTK7-GEMs showed stronger anti-tumor efficacy and excellent biosafety in three types of tumor xenograft mice models.These results demonstrated that PTK7-GEMs is a successful targeted aptamer-drug conjugates strategy (APDCs) to treat BC, which will provide new directions for the precision treatment of BC in the field of biomarker-oriented tumor targeted therapy.

        Lipoxygenase belongs to a diverse family of nonheme ferroproteins that oxygenate polyenoic fatty acids containing 1,4-pentadiene structure to form their corresponding hydroperoxy derivatives. Lipoxygenases (LOXs), widely distributed in animals and plants, have a key function in the formation of biologically active substances from pulyunsaturated fatty acids. Generally, free polyunsaturated fatty acids, liberated from membrane phospholipids via phospholipase-catalyzed hydrolysis, are used as substrates for LOXs. Although it is acknowledged that free polyunsaturated fatty acids are preferred to phospholipids or triglycerides as substrates, there have been recent reports that mammalian enzymes can oxidize certain phospholipids. Especially, reticulocyte LOX (15-LOX) leukocyte 15-LOX, leukocyte LOX (12-LOX) can oxygenate complex substrates such as phospholipids and biomembranes. In addition, acylglycerol and acylethanolamide are utilized by lipoxygeanse as well as cycoloxygenase; the latter enzyme contributes to generation of bioactive prostanoids derivative. Furthermore, lysophosphatidylcholine or lysophosphatidic acid containing linoleoyl or arachidonoyl moieties are known to be oxygenated by reticulocyte LOX, leukocyte 15-LOX or leukocyte-type 12-LOX; oxygenated lysophospholipids can play a carrier role in transporting oxygenated derivatives. Thus, the use of various lipid substrates as new substrates for lipoxygenase may extend the physiological roles of those lipids containing unsaturated fatty acyl chains.

        Logic programming has gained its popularity in symbolic processing. A question that naturally arises is how to execute standard sequential prolog programs with side-effects in parallel. The problems of performing side-effects in AND parallel systems and in OR parallel systems have been considered elsewhere. This paper makes an inquiry into how to control side-effects in an Restricted AND/OR parallel execution model. The synchronization blocks are added in compiling time. The extension of the Warren abstract instruction is given out. Finally, our future work is given out.

        Numerical simulation of a shear-thinning fluid through packed spheres

        Flow behaviors of a non-Newtonian fluid in spherical microstructures have been studied by a direct numerical simulation. A shear-thinning (power-law) fluid through both regular and randomly packed spheres has been numerically investigated in a representative unit cell with the tri-periodic boundary condition, employing a rigorous three-dimensional finite-element scheme combined with fictitious-domain mortar-element methods. The present scheme has been validated for the classical spherical packing problems with literatures. The flow mobility of regular packing structures, including simple cubic (SC), body-centered cubic (BCC), face-centered cubic (FCC), as well as randomly packed spheres, has been investigated quantitatively by considering the amount of shear-thinning, the pressure gradient and the porosity as parameters. Furthermore, the mechanism leading to the main flow path in a highly shear-thinning fluid through randomly packed spheres has been discussed.
