A feasible remote sensing algorithm to estimate the three-dimensional distribution of suspended sediment was developed under a new approach. This algorithm brings back suspended sediment concentration (SSC) in certain water layers using water-leaving reflection reflected by bands of SeaWiFS. Penetration depths and suspended sediment concentration could be determined by the gradient of satellite-detected reflectance spectrum. And then the SSC in certain water layers could be calculated by penetration depth and suspended sediment concentration for such two penetration depths. Some interesting information about vertical structure was provides in the upper layer of water column along the estuarine front. SeaWiFS's retrieved images for near surface 3D structure of SSC suggests, for the Pearl River estuary in wet season of 1999, an unusual belt of suspended sediment appears along the estuarine front. In upstream side of that belt, SSC for layer 20~50cm is lower than the most surface layer. While in its downstream side, SSC for layer 50cm clearly gets higher.
A Novel Hybrid Active Power Filter with a High-Voltage Rank
Li, Yan,Li, Gang The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2013 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.13 No.4
A novel hybrid active power filter (NHAPF) that can be adopted in high-voltage systems is proposed in this paper. The topological structure and filtering principle of the compensating system is provided and analyzed, respectively. Different controlling strategies are also presented to select the suitable strategy for the compensation system. Based on the selected strategy, the harmonic suppression function is used to analyze the influence of system parameters on the compensating system with MATLAB. Moreover, parameters in the injection branch are designed and analyzed. The performance of the proposed NHAPF in harmonic suppression and reactive power compensation is simulated with PSim. Thereafter, the overall control method is proposed. Simulation analysis and real experiments show that the proposed NHAPF exhibits good harmonic suppression and reactive power compensation. The proposed compensated system is based on the three-phase four-switch inverter, which is inexpensive, and the control method is verified for validity and effectiveness.

Although associations between thioredoxin interacting protein (TXNIP) and cancers have been recognized, the effects of TXNIP on non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) prognosis remained to be determined in detail. In addition, while hypoxia is a key characteristic of tumor cell growth microenvironment, the effect of hypoxia on TXNIP expression is controversial. In this study, formaldehyde fixed and paraffin embedded (FFPE) samples of 70 NSCLC patients who underwent resection between January 2010 and December 2011 were obtained. Evaluation of TXNIP and hypoxia inducible factor-$1{\alpha}$ ($HIF-1{\alpha}$) protein expression in FFPE samples was made by immunohistochemistry. By Kaplan-Meier method, patients with high TXNIP expression demonstrated a significantly shorter progression free survival (PFS) compared with those with low TXNIP expression (18.0 months, 95%CI: 11.7, 24.3 versus 23.0 months, 95%CI: 17.6, 28.4, P=0.02). High TXNIP expression level was also identified as an independent prognostic factor by Cox regression analysis (adjusted hazard ratio: 2.46; 95%CI: 1.08, 5.56; P=0.03). Furthermore, TXNIP expression was found to be significantly correlated with $HIF-1{\alpha}$ expression (Spearman correlation=0.67, P=0.000). To further confirm correlations, we established a tumor cell hypoxic culture model. Expression of TXNIP was up-regulated in all three NSCLC cell lines (A549, SPC-A1, and H1299) under hypoxic conditions. This study suggests that hypoxia induces increased TXNIP expression in NSCLC and high TXNIP expression could be a poor prognostic marker.
Computer Assisted Auditing Techniquesfor Financial Audit Effectiveness and Efficiency

In accounting financial transaction, business entities may either choose to record it manually or with the aid of technology. Nowadays, business enterprises and companies are already equipped with computer software for financial recording and financial reporting purposes. This has speed up the accounting cycle and minimized errors that a manual computation does. If accounting has already emerged with technology, auditing this pile of financial transactions would also require the auditor to be updated with this trend. Of course, auditing may also be done purely manually if given enough printed reports and documents, but it takes very much time and effort. However if most of the data are computerized, the auditor will be required to have knowledge in auditing technology. This paper discusses the different types of audit, the audit process and different types of computer assisted auditing techniques.

Objective: This study evaluated the effects of dandelion supplements on lactation performance, circulating antioxidative activity and plasma metabolomics in primiparous dairy cows. Methods: A total of 60 mid-lactation dairy cows (milk yield = 34.29±0.34 kg/d; days in milk = 151.72±2.36 days) were divided into 4 treatment groups randomly, comprising the addition of dandelion at 0, 100, 200, 400 g/d per head. The experiment lasted for 8 weeks with an extra 10 days’ pre-feeding period. Milk and blood samples were collected, and plasma samples were selected to perform metabolomics analysis. Results: Supplementing 200 g/d of dandelion increased the yield of milk and lactose (p≤ 0.05). The milk somatic cell counts (p≤0.05) were lower in all dandelion groups than those in the control group. The activity of glutathione peroxidase (p≤0.05) and superoxide dismutase (p≤0.05) were increased and plasma malondialdehyde (p = 0.01) was decreased when cows were fed 200 g/d dandelion. Plasma metabolomics analysis showed that 23 hub differential metabolites were identified in the 200 g/d dandelion group. These metabolites such as ribose, glutamic acid, valine, and phenylalanine were enriched in D-glutamine and D-glutamate metabolism (p = 0.06, impact value = 1), phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan biosynthesis (p = 0.05, impact value = 0.5), and starch and sucrose metabolism (p = 0.21, impact value = 0.13). Moreover, correlation analysis showed that circulating ribose, mannose, and glutamic acid were positively related to milk yield. Conclusion: Dandelion supplementation could improve lactation performance and elevate the plasma carbohydrate and amino acids metabolism and antioxidative activity. Supplementation of 200 g/d dandelion is recommended for lactating dairy cows.

Apple ring rot disease, caused by Botryosphaeria dothidea (Moug. ex. Fr) Ces. et de Not., is one of the most important diseases on apple fruits. In this study, strain 9001 isolated from healthy apple fruits from an infested orchard was evaluated for its biocontrol activity against apple ring rot in vitro and in vivo. Strain 9001 showed obvious antagonistic activity to B. dothidea YL-1 when plated on potato dextrose agar. Soaking healthy apples in the bacterial suspensions of strain 9001 prior to artificial inoculation of fungal pathogen resulted in a dramatic decrease in disease incidence when compared to the control. Moreover, either field application in the growth season or postharvest treatment of apples from infected orchards with bacterial suspensions of strain 9001 resulted in significantly reduced disease incidence within the storage period for 4 months at room temperature. Based on the phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA and the gyrA gene, strain 9001 was identified as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. These results indicated that B. amyloliquefaciens 9001 could be a promising agent in biocontrol of apple ring rot on fruit, which might help to minimize the yield loss of apple fruit during the long postharvest period.

One of the goals of tumor immunotherapy is to generate immune cells with potent anti-tumor activity through in vitro techniques using peripheral blood collected from patients. However, cancer patients generally have poor immunological function. Thus using patient T cells, which have reduced in vitro proliferative capabilities and less tumor cell killing activity to generate lymphokine-activated killer (LAK) cells, fails to achieve optimal clinical efficacy. Interleukin-2 (IL-2) is a potent activating cytokine for both T cells and natural killer cells. Thus, this study aimed to identify optimal donors for allogeneic LAK cell immunotherapy based on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in the IL-2 and IL-2R genes. IL-2 and IL-2R SNPs were analyzed using HRM-PCR. LAK cells were derived from peripheral blood mononuclear cells by culturing with IL-2. The frequency and tumor-killing activity of LAK cells in each group were analyzed by flow cytometry and tumor cell killing assays, respectively. Regarding polymorphisms at IL-2-330 (rs2069762) T/G, LAK cells from GG donors had significantly greater proliferation, tumor-killing activity, and IFN-${\gamma}$ production than LAK cells from TT donors (P<0.05). Regarding polymorphisms at IL-2R rs2104286 A/G, LAK cell proliferation and tumor cell killing were significantly greater in LAK cells from AA donors than GG donors (P<0.05). These data suggest that either IL-2-330(rs2069762)T/G GG donors or IL-2R rs2104286 A/G AA donors are excellent candidates for allogeneic LAK cell immunotherapy.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Perception of the seabed environment is an important capability of autonomous underwater vehicles. This paper focuses on defining and extracting robust texture features from visual images that lead to useful and practical automated identification of the types of seabed sediments. The visual texture features are described by using a gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) and fractal dimension, after which an unsupervised learning method, self-organizing map (SOM), is adopted to evaluate the validity of features descriptors on three types of seabed sediments. Subsequently, a kernel-based approach that exhibits robustness versus low numbers of high-dimensional samples, named support vector domain description (SVDD), is applied to classify the types of seabed sediments. In comparison with state-of-the-art classifiers, the experimental results demonstrated the effectiveness of the SVDD on the classification of seabed sediments.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The visual images of seabed sediments are characterized by the texture features which are extracted based on the GLCM and fractal theory. </LI> <LI> A multi-class classification strategy for seabed sediments is proposed by adding a distance measure after SVDD implementation. </LI> <LI> The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed classification strategy is feasible in recognizing the type of seabed sediments. </LI> </UL> </P>
