Light emitting diode(LED) plays important role in illumination applications such as general lighting, automotive, and outdoor lights due to their high reliability and energy saving elements. The long lifetime is one of the main advantages of LED and thus, the Accelerated Life T(ALT) is used to help achieving the target life time. This paper presents the investigation of ALT models and failures for LED in recent literatures. LED reliability improvement technologies will be discussed finally.

Abstract

Dendrobiumnaungmungense, a new species from Naungmung, Kachin State, North Myanmar, is described and illustrated. It is morphologically similar to D.ciliatilabellum and D.vexabile, but the epichile is oblong with three long-ciliate laminae and the column wing has significant denticulation. A preliminary risk-of-extinction assessment shows that the new species should be regarded as Critically Endangered (CR) according to the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria.

Background: As an important component of the NDC80 kinetochore complex, NUF2 is essential for kinetochore-microtubule attachment and chromosome segregation. Previous studies also suggested its involvement in development of various kinds of human cancers, however, its expression and functions in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are still unclear. Materials and Methods: In the present study, we aimed to test the hypothesis that NUF2 is aberrant in human HCCs and associated with cell growth. Results: Our results showed significantly elevated expression of NUF2 in human HCC tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues, and high expression of NUF2 in HCC cell lines. Using lentivirus-mediated silencing of NUF2 in HepG2 human HCC cells, we found that NUF2 depletion markedly suppressed proliferation and colony formation capacity in vitro, and dramatically hampered tumor growth of xenografts in vivo. Moreover, NUF2 silencing could induce cell cycle arrest and trigger cell apoptosis. Additionally, altered levels of cell cycle and apoptosis related proteins including cyclin B1, Cdc25A, Cdc2, Bad and Bax were also observed. Conclusions: In conclusion, these results demonstrate that NUF2 plays a critical role in the regulation of HCC cell proliferation and apoptosis, indicating that NUF2 may serve as a potential molecular target for therapeutic approaches.

A Lorentz force-type magnetic bearing (LFMB) with good linearity is suitable for the high-precision deflection control of a magnetically suspended gimballing flywheel (MSGFW). In this paper, a novel LFMB with improved double magnetic circuits is presented. Inclined magnetization Halbach array permanent magnets (PMs) and trapezoidal PMs are utilized for improving the magnetic flux density. A mathematical model of the magnetic flux density is established based on the equivalent surface current method. To obtain the maximum magnetic flux density, the optimal magnetization angle is calculated, and the dimension parameters are optimized by the sequential quadratic programming method. A maximum magnetic flux density of 0.615 T is obtained, which is 7.9% larger than that of an LFMB with conventional double magnetic circuits. Based on simulation results, LFMB prototype magnetic flux density experiments are carried out. The results show that the magnetic flux density fluctuations of the two LFMB schemes are similar. The maximum magnetic flux density of 0.608 T is increased by 6.7% when compared with that of the LFMB with conventional double magnetic circuits at 0.57 T. The error between the simulation and the experiment is within 5%. This indicates that the LFMB with improved double magnetic circuits is promising when it comes to meet the agile maneuver requirements of the spacecraft.

Peroxiredoxins (Prxs) are ubiquitous thiol-specificantioxidant enzymes that are critically involved in cell defenseand protect cells from oxidative damage. In this study, aputative Type II Prx (ThPrx1) was identified and characterizedfrom Tamarix hispida. The expression of ThPrx1 is highlyinduced in response to hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and methylviologen (MV) stresses. When expressed ectopically, ThPrx1showed enhanced tolerance against oxidative stress in yeastand Arabidopsis. In addition, transgenic Arabidopsis plantsoverexpressing ThPrx1 displayed improved seedling survivalrates and increased root growth and fresh weight gain underH2O2 and MV treatments. Moreover, transgenic Arabidopsisplants showed decreased accumulation of H2O2, superoxide(O2•−) and malondialdehyde (MDA), increased superoxidedismutase (SOD) activity compared to wild-type (WT) plantsunder oxidative stress. Moreover, transgenic plants maintainedhigher photosynthesis efficiency and lower electrolyte leakagerates than that of WT plants under stress conditions. Theseresults clearly indicated that ThPrx1 plays an important rolein cellular redox homeostasis under stress conditions, leadingto the maintenance of membrane integrity and increasedtolerance to oxidative stress.

A capacitive Frisch-grid CdZnTe detector with different lengths of the Frisch rings has beenfabricated, and the influence of infrared (IR) stimulation on the spectral performance of the detectorhas been investigated. IR stimulation at a wavelength (940 nm), close to the absorption edge ofthe CdZnTe, was found to improve the detector’s spectral performance significantly. IR radiationwas noted to influence the detector’s sensitivity, changing the equilibrium between free and trappedcarriers and improving the charge collection. The degree of improvement was different for detectorswith different lengths of the Frisch rings and depended on the weighting potential distribution andthe IR illumination intensity. For example, improvement was obtained in the energy resolution(FWHM) at 662 keV from 3.3% without illumination to 2.3% with a low intensity (120 μW) of IRillumination for the capacitive Frisch-grid CdZnTe detector with an 8-mm-long Frisch ring. Goodenergy resolution could be obtained even at low operating voltages.
