      • Microstructures and martensitic transformation behavior of superelastic Ti-Ni-Ag scaffolds

        <P>Ti-Ni-Ag scaffolds were prepared by sintering rapidly solidified alloy fibers. Microstructures and transformation behaviors of alloy fibers and scaffolds were investigated by means of electron probe micro-analyzer (EPMA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The B2-R-B19' transformation occurs in alloy fibers. The alloy fibers have good superelasticity with superelastic recovery ratio of 93% after annealing heat treatment. The as-sintered Ti-Ni-Ag scaffolds possess three-dimensional and interconnected pores and have the porosity level of 80%. The heat treated Ti-Ni-Ag scaffolds not only have an elastic modulus of 0.67 GPa, which match well with that of cancellous bone, but also show excellent superelasticity at human body temperature. In terms of the mechanical properties, the Ti-Ni-Ag scaffolds in this study can meet the main requirements of bone scaffold for the purpose of bone replacement applications.       • Emission estimates of methyl chloride from industrial sources in China based on high frequency atmospheric observations

        <P>Methyl Chloride (CH3Cl) is a chlorine-containing trace gas in the atmosphere contributing significantly to stratospheric ozone depletion (Carpenter et al. 2014). In the global CH3Cl budget, the atmospheric CH3Cl emissions is predominantly maintained by natural sources, of which magnitudes have been relatively well-constrained. However, significant uncertainties still remain in the CH3Cl emission strengths from anthropogenic sources. High-frequency and high-precision in situ measurements of atmospheric CH3Cl concentrations obtained since 2008 at Gosan station (a remote background site in the East Asia) reveal significant pollution events superimposed on the seasonally varying regional background levels. Back trajectory statistics showed that air masses corresponding to the observed CH3Cl enhancement largely originated from regions of intensive industrial activities in China. Based on an inter-species correlation method, estimates of CH3Cl emissions from manufacturing industries including coal combustion, use of feedstocks, or process agents in chemical production for China (2008-2012) are 297 +/- 71 Gg yr.(-1) in 2008 to 480 +/- 99 Gg yr.(-1) in 2009, followed by a gradual decrease of about 25% between 2009 and 2012 (398 +/- 92 Gg yr.(-1) for 2010; 286 +/- 68 Gg yr.(-1) for 2011; 358 +/- 92 Gg yr.(-1) for 2012). The annual average of industrial CH3Cl emissions for 2008-2012 (363 +/- 85 Gg yr.(-1)) in China is comparable to the known total global anthropogenic CH3Cl emissions accounting only for coal combustion and indoor biofuel use. This may suggest that unless emissions from the chemical industry are accounted for, global anthropogenic emissions of CH3Cl have been substantially underestimated. In particular, since industrial production and use of CH3Cl have not been regulated under the Montreal Protocol (MP) or its successor amendments, continuous monitoring of Chinese CH3Cl outflow is important to properly evaluate its anthropogenic emissions.</P>

      • Anomalous length-independent frontier resonant transmission peaks in armchair graphene nanoribbon molecular wires

        Molecular wires constitute the building blocks for nanoscale interconnects. However, the exponential decrease in conductance with wire length severely limits their applications. We predict, using first principles calculations, that armchair graphene nanoribbon (AGNR) wires, connected by transverse zigzag edges to wider AGNR electrodes, can exhibit anomalous resonant transmission peaks that are nearly independent of the wire length. We propose a new model to explain the unusual length independence of peak energies from the locally repeating property of the wavefunction in the middle-AGNR. We further uncover that this locally repeating pattern originates from states of a perfect AGNR with infinite length. The pattern can be well preserved when the AGNR is connected to wider AGNR leads because of the zigzag edges serving as electron sources and drains. The length independence of peak widths results from the zigzag edges absorbing most of the wavefunction renormalization as the length increases, so that the coupling strength to the electrodes does not change significantly. These anomalous properties arising from intrinsic wavefunction properties of the AGNRs are in sharp contrast to typical transmission properties of traditional molecular wire junctions, which suggests promising potential application as ''molecular wire'' interconnects in nano-electronics.

      • A novel cyclization/oxidation strategy for a two-step synthesis of (Z)-aurone

        An efficient and facile two-step strategy for the synthesis of (Z)-aurone from arylacetylenes and salicyladehydes, via silver(I) nitrate mediated cyclization/oxidation in the presence of potassium carbonate has been developed. The key feature of our method was delicate cascade reaction, to provide the corresponding (Z)-aurone in high yield and good regio- and stereo selectivity.

        잔좃토시에 나타난 색의 상의주의

        본 논문은 20세기 후반에 있어서 가장 대표적인 작가들 중에서 몬탈레이후 이탈리아의 가장 중요한 시인으로 평가되는 안드레아 잔좃토에 대해 다루고 있다. 20세기 후기 사회는 원래의 모습을 알아보기 어렵게 할 정도로 사물들을 탈자연화하고 도구화하는 소비주의의 현실이 만연했다. 잔좃토는 해석해내는데 어렵고도 새로운 이러한 현실을 탁월하게 표현해냈다. 잔좃토는 이탈리아 문학의 맥락에서 그를 다소 독특한 위치에 자리 하게한 형식적 측면에서나 표현적 측면에서의 독창적인 시험주의를 시도하였다. 이로써 잔좃토는 우리시대의 역사적 증인이 될 수 있게 한 새로운 시문학과 또 현실 너머의 자신만의 독특한 연구를 통한 형이상학적인 도구를 창조해냈다. 언어의 사용이 진리 탐구의 도구가 된 잔좃토의 시학과 같은 복잡한 시학은 색상이 자신만의 독창적인 면모를 보여주는 것이기에 그 역할을 분석해내는 것은 중요하다고 생각한다. 색상은 조형예술이 탄생하기 전에 인간이 사용한 초기의 상징들 중 하나였으며 표시들의 다양함 정도를 넘어서 현실의 심오함을 향해 우리를 이끌 현실에 대한 독창적인 수준을 표현해낸다. 잔좃토의 시학에서 언어는 개인과 현실에 깊이를 제공해줄 수 있는 의미를 발견할 목적으로 원래의 방향을 향해야한다. 본연구가는 색상 또한 이러한 점에 있어서 간과할 수 없는 역할을 취한다고 생각한다. 본고에서는 이러한 면을 고려하여 잔좃토의 초기시집에서 되풀이되어 사용되고 있는 색체들, 파란색, 녹색, 금색, 빨간색, 검정색 그리고 흰색에 대한 분석을 집중적으로 시도해보았다.

        Apprendimento dell’italiano come ls in corea: criticità linguistiche e culturali

        본 논문은 한국 학생들이 외국어로서 이탈리아어를 습득하는 과정에서 만나게 되는 주된 어려움의 원인들을 알아보고자 한다. 고려할 두 가지 변수는 언어적인 것과 사회문화적인 것이다. 우선 학습자들의 중간언어에서 출발하여 이탈리아어와 한국어 간의 대조 분석을 제시하고, 습득의 진행을 어렵게 하는 모국어의 형태론, 구문론 그리고 음성학적인 개입을 규명한다. 두 번째 파트에서는 구술 생산력의 저해 요인 즉, 습득을 지연시키는 장애물로 예상되는 두 가지 문화적 요소로 강한 집단 소속감과 사회 계층구조를 살펴본다. 결론에서는 기저 체계에 필요한 적응 지침과 함께 원활한 습득을 위한 보다 적절한 접근으로서 Cooperative Learning 협력학습을 제안한다.

        Humour is a universal trait and is the next most socially acceptable form of communication in our society. In other words humour is an all-pervasive feature of everyday language and is a key component in human interactions. As a natural consequence, the employment of humour within the context of Language Teaching, has to be taken into proper consideration. The purpose of the present study is to analyse humour in this perspective. The last studies in applied linguistics has shown how humorous moments can contribute to foreign language learning by expanding learners` communicative repertoires, by drawing learners` attention to FL forms and by destabilizing students` interlanguage. Other studies have recognized its important affective function and its role in reducing anxiety, strengthening in-group affiliation and mitigating face threatening. After the investigation of positive and negative effects of humor, the focus of the present study shifts towards humours language play. The purpose is to give some practical advice for creating language games able to enhance playful talk among students. In terms of context the research takes into specific consideration Korean university students studying Italian as FL.
