Objective: To investigate liver fibrosis, TGF-${\beta}1$ levels and curative effects on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with small and conventional dose perfusion chemotherapy by transcatheter arterial chemo embolization (TACE). Methods: Thirty-six hepatocellular carcinoma patients not indicated for surgical resection underwent super-selective transcatheter arterial chemoembolization, divided into small dose (n=15) and conventional dose (n=21) chemotherapy groups. Results: With conventional doses, four indices of liver fibrosis focusing on hyaluronate acide (HA), human procollagen type-III (hPC-III), collagen type-Ⅳ (Ⅳ-C) and transforming growth factor-${\beta}l$ (TGF-${\beta}1$) were obviously increased postoperative compared with preoperative (P<0.01); in contrast, with small doses there were no significant differences except for TGF-${\beta}1$. Five year survival demonstrated no significant differences between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: To hepatocellular carcinoma patients treated by TACE, reducing doses of chemotherapy drugs can reduce progress of liver fibrosis, without impacting on five year survival.

These materials are monodispersed microspheres with peony appearance, open mesoporous structure, large specific surface area and nano-crystalline feature. The applications of this type of novel material to SOFC, ethanol steam reforming and CO oxidation are introduced.
Drought Resistance of Three Alfalfa Varieties Seedlings under PEG Stress
LI Hong,LI Bo,ZHAO Hong-bo 한국초지조사료학회 2009 한국초지조사료학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2009 No.08
Seedling drought resistance of three alfalfa cultivars-Medicago sativa L. cv. Aohan, Medicago sativa L. cv. Zhaodong and Medicago sativa L. cv. Tumu No.2 were studied and evaluated. The permeability of plasma membrane, the free proline content and the peroxidase (POD) activity of three alfalfa cultivars were tested at 24h after treating with 20% polyethylene glycol (PEG-6000). The results indicated t㏊t the drought resistance ability of all these varieties was in the order of Medicago sativa L. cv. Aohan, Medicago sativa L. cv. Zhaodong and Medicago sativa L. cv. Tumu No.2.

Chromatin-based silencing provides a crucial mechanism for the regulation of gene expression. We have identified a WD40 domain cyclophilin, CYCLOPHILIN71 (CYP71), which functions in gene repression and organogenesis in Arabidopsis thaliana. Disruption of CYP71 resulted in ectopic activation of homeotic genes that regulate meristem development. The cyp71 mutant plants displayed dramatic defects, including reduced apical meristem activity, delayed and abnormal lateral organ formation, and arrested root growth. CYP71 was associated with the chromatin of target gene loci and physically interacted with histone H3. The cyp71 mutant showed reduced methylation of H3K27 at target loci, consistent with the derepression of these genes in the mutant. As CYP71 has close homologs in eukaryotes ranging from fission yeast to human, we propose that it serves as a highly conserved histone remodeling factor involved in chromatin-based gene silencing in eukaryotic organisms.

Endophytes colonize tissues of healthy host plants and play a crucial role in plant growth and development. However, little attention has been paid to the endophytes of tuber crops such as cassava, which is used as a staple food by approximately 800 million people worldwide. This study aimed to elucidate the diversity and composition of endophytic bacterial and fungal communities in different cassava cultivars using high-throughput sequencing. Although no significant differences in richness or diversity were observed among the different cassava cultivars, the community compositions were diverse. Two cultivars (SC124 and SC205) tolerant to root rot exhibited similar community compositions, while two other cultivars (SC10 and SC5), which are moderately and highly susceptible to root rot, respectively, harboured similar community compositions. Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, and Ascomycota dominated the endophyte assemblages, with Weissella, Serratia, Lasiodiplodia, Fusarium, and Diaporthe being the predominant genera. The differentially abundant taxonomic clades between the tolerant and susceptible cultivars were mainly rare taxa, such as Lachnoclostridium_5, Rhizobium, Lampropedia, and Stenotrophomonas. These seemed to be key genera that affected the susceptibility of cassava to root rot. Moreover, the comparison of KEGG functional profiles revealed that ‘Environmental adaptation’ category was significantly enriched in the tolerant cultivars, while ‘Infectious diseases: Parasitic’ category was significantly enriched in the susceptible cultivars. The present findings open opportunities for further studies on the roles of endophytes in the susceptibility of plants to diseases.
Multivesicular Liposomes for Oral Delivery of Recombinant Human Epidermal Growth Factor
Li Hong,An Jun Hee,Park Jeong-Sook,Han Kun The Pharmaceutical Society of Korea 2005 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.28 No.8
The purpose of the present study was to prepare multivesicular liposomes with a high drug loading capacity and to investigate its potential applicability in the oral delivery of a peptide, human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF). The multivesicular liposomes containing rhEGF was prepared by a two-step water-in-oil-in-water double emulsification process. The loading efficiency was increased as rhEGF concentration increased from 1 to 5mg/mL, reaching approximately $60\%$ at 5 mg/mL. Approximately $47\%$ and $35\%$ of rhEGF was released from the multivesicular liposomes within 6 h in simulated intra-gastric fluid (pH 1.2) and intra-intestinal fluid (pH 7.4), respectively. rhEGF-loaded multivesicular liposomes markedly suppressed the enzymatic degradation of the peptide in an incubation with the Caco-2 cell homogenate. However, the transport of rhEGF from the multivesicular liposomes to the basolateral side of Caco2 cells was two times lower than that of the rhEGF in aqueous solution. The gastric ulcer healing effect of rhEGF-loaded multivesicular liposomes was significantly enhanced compared with that of rhEGF in aqueous solution; the healing effect of the liposomes was comparable to that of the cimetidine in rats. Collectively, these results indicate that rhEGF-loaded multivesicular liposomes may be used as a new strategy for the development of an oral delivery system in the treatment of peptic ulcer diseases.

Background: The dysregulation of LncRNAs is related to the malignant progression of many cancers. Objective: The study aimed to investigate the expression and the biological role of LncSNHG3 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: The TCGA data of the LncSNHG3 in HCC were analyzed. The expression in HCC cell lines was detected by qRT-PCR. Proliferation, migration, and invasion of HepG2 and Huh7 were examined by cell counting kit-8, colony formation, transwell assays, and wound healing assays. At the same time, the interactions among LncSNHG3, miR-152-3p, and JAK1 were confirmed by dual-luciferase reporter assay, RNA immunoprecipitation, subcellular distribution. Xenograft tumor-bearing mice models were used to measure the effect of LncSNHG3 on the growth of HCC in vivo. The apoptosis and epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT)-associated proteins were checked by WB and IHC. Results: LncSNHG3 was overexpressed in HCC tissues and cell lines. In addition, it is correlated with the tumor stage and survival time of HCC patients. Down-regulated LncSNHG3 could significantly suppress the EMT progression of HCC in vivo and in vitro. LncSNHG3 could promote the JAK1 expression by sponging miR-152-3p. Conclusions: LncSNHG3 acted as an oncogene and promoted the EMT procession in HCC by binding miR-152-3p and promoting JAK1 expression. Predictably, LncSNHG3 was used as a potential marker and will be used as a novel therapy target for HCC in the future.
