      • Non-volatile, Li-doped ion gel electrolytes for flexible WO<sub>3</sub>-based electrochromic devices

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Flexible electrochromic devices (ECDs) based on Li-doped ion gels and tungsten trioxide (WO<SUB>3</SUB>) are demonstrated. Colored ECDs cannot be produced using conventional ion gels comprised of copolymers and room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) due to a lack of cations that can be inserted into WO<SUB>3</SUB>. Based on considerations of the coloration mechanism, we developed Li-doped ion gels and applied these to devices. The effects of Li salt concentration are systematically examined, with respect to device dynamics, coloration efficiency, and transmittance contrast. In addition, the coloration/bleaching switching stability of the ECD produced using optimal Li salt content is investigated. The ECD exhibits distinct colored and bleached states even after 24 h operation in air. Using the described Li-doped ion gel electrolytes, flexible WO<SUB>3</SUB> ECDs were successfully demonstrated with good bending stability and no electrolyte leakage.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Non-volatile, Li-doped ion gel electrolytes are designed for flexible WO<SUB>3</SUB>-based ECDs. </LI> <LI> ECDs exhibit low voltage operation (–0.9 V) and large transmittance contrast (~85%) between colored and bleached states. </LI> <LI> Electrolyte leakage is not observed in flexible ECDs containing Li-doped gel electrolyte when bending deformation is applied. </LI> <LI> Flexible ECDs maintain ~90.3 and ~84.5% of initial optical transmittance and coloration efficiency after 1000 bending tests. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

      • Dual-Function Electrochromic Supercapacitors Displaying Real-Time Capacity in Color

        <P>Dual-function electrochromic supercapacitors (ECSs) that indicate their real-time charge capacity in color are fabricated using tungsten trioxide (WO<SUB>3</SUB>) and Li-doped ion gels containing hydroquinone (HQ). The ECSs can simultaneously serve as either electrochromic devices or supercapacitors. The coloration/bleaching and charging/discharging characteristics are investigated between 0 and −1.5 V. At the optimal HQ concentration, large transmittance contrast (∼91%), high coloration efficiency (∼61.9 cm<SUP>2</SUP>/C), high areal capacitance (∼13.6 mF/cm<SUP>2</SUP>), and good charging/discharging cyclic stability are achieved. Flexible ECSs are fabricated on plastic substrates by exploiting the elastic characteristics of the gel electrolytes, and they exhibit good bending durability. Moreover, practical feasibility is evaluated by demonstrating the use of the ECSs as an energy storage device and a power source.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

        Promising Carbon Matrix Derived from Willow Catkins for the Synthesis of SnO2/C Composites with Enhanced Electrical Performance for Li-Ion Batteries

        Willow catkins as a kind of seasonal biomass are harmful to human health in terms of causing respiratory ailments and skin anaphylaxis every spring. To explore the high-value utilization of willow catkins, in this study, we attempt to develop a kind of tin-based anode materials with willow catkin derived carbon (WCC) as the matrix. A designed solvent-thermal method involving thiourea as stabilizer and acetone–H2O mixture as solvent has been employed to fabricate SnO2–WCC composites, which exhibit uniform deposition of well-dispersed SnO2 nanoparticles on the surface of WCC. As an anode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), the SnO2–WCC composite delivered a stable discharge capacity of 565mAh g -1 at 100mA g -1 after 70 cycles and a good rate capability of 349mAh g -1 at 1000mA g -1. The high dispersity of SnO2 nanoparticles and high conductivity of WCC are both believed to contribute to the excellent electrochemical performances. These results suggest the potential of willow catkins derived carbonaceous materials applied in anode materials of LIBs and shed light on the creation of advanced carbon materials from other biomass materials towards energy storage applications.

      • 위암세포주와 cisplatin 내성 위암세포주에서 TGF-β1이 세포성장과 세포주기 관련 단백에 미치는 영향

        Background and Objectives: In this study, we investigated the effect of TGF-β1 on cell growth in the gastric cancer cell line, SNU-601/WT and cisplatin-resistant gastric cancer cell subline, SNU-60l/Cis2. We further demonstrated correlation between TGF-β1 treatment and expressions of cell cycle-related proteins (c-Myc, pS3 and p16). Materials and Method: SNU-60l/WT and SNU-601/Cis2 cell lines incubated at 24 hours to 96 hours after TGF-β1 treatment. The effect of TGF-β1 on survivals of these cell lines were measured by MTT assay. The expressions of c-Myc, p53 and p16 protein were performed by immunohistochemistry. Results: Survival ratio of TGF-β1 (10 ng/mL) treated SNU-601/WT and SNU-60l/Cis2 groups were significantly correlated with control groups for 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours (p<0.005), respectively. Immunohistochemical staining showed that TGF-β1 inhibited c-Myc and p53 expression in SNU-60l/WT and SNU-601/Cis2 cells. Further TGF-β1 increased p16 expression in SNU-601/WT cells. Conclusion: These results reveal that TGF-131 inhibits cell growth, c-Myc and p53 expression in SNU-601/WT and SNU-60l/Cis2 cell lines. So it is suggested that TGF-131 may have an important role in therapy of gastric cancer and cisplatin-resistant gastric cancer.

        PC U형의 단면을 사용한 포스트텐션된 넓은 보-기둥 내부접합부의 비탄성 거동

        Post-tensioned precast concrete system(PPS) consists of U-shaped precast wide beams and concrete columns. The continuity of beam-column joint is provided with the topping concrete on the PC shell beam and post-tensioning. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the response of PPS interior beam-column joint subjected to cyclic lateral loading. To this end, the experimental investigation was performed with three half-scale specimens of interior connection. The design parameter is the ratio of beam width to column width. Test results showed that cracks were distributed well and plastic hinges spread toward midspan without any significant degradation of strength and ductility. And the specimens sufficiently resisted up to the limiting drift ratio of 0.035 given by ACI of acceptance criteria for concrete special moment frames.

        Background : Mucins possess the unique function of protecting and lubricating the epithelial surface and other important functions such as call growth, direct implication in the fetal development, the epithelial renewal and differentiation, the epithelial integrity, carcinogenesis, immune regulation, cellular adhesion and metastasis. Purpose : This study was done to provide the significance of alteration of MUC1 and MUC2 expression in colorectal adenocarcinoma, A series of 131 colorectal adenocarcinomas including 11 mucinous carcinomas were screened immunohistochemically for their expression of MUCI and MUC2, Materials and mehtods : Of 131 carcinomas, 76 (58,5%) were MUCI positive and 91 (68, 9%) were MUC2 positive, In normal colonic goblet cells, MUCl was not expressed but MUC2 was expressed in cytoplasm, Conclusion There were up-regulation of MUCI and down-regulation of MUC2 in colorectal carcinomas, The frequency of MUC2 positivity according to differentiation was statistically reliable. On the basis of the distinction between language-linguistics and speech-linguistics, topics discussed in this paper are : 1) the nature of Chinese characters, including the relations among the appearance, the sound and the meaning of them, the character type they belong to, and the developmental and the body structures of them ; 2) the traits, advantages and disadvantages of several typical teaching methods of Chinese characters in elementary schools in mainland China ; 3) the struggles between science and pseudo-science in the teaching of Chinese characters.

        A characteristic mode analysis for electromagnetic radiation through finite periodic circumferential slotsin a dielectric-filled coaxial waveguide is considered. From knowledge of characteristic values, the characteristic mode solutions of interest such as characteristic currents, far field patterns are computed. In order to check the validity of the present analysis method, the equivalent magnetic current and the radiation pattern are compared with those obtained by use of the point-matching method. Good correspondence between them is observed.

      • 유방암에서 Her-2/neu의 평가방법과 임상적 의미

        Background and Objectives: In breast cancer, Her-2/neu amplification/overexpression predicts a poor clinical outcome and an enhanced survival benefit is rEported with the Her-2/neu targeted therapy. The purpose of this study was to establish a sensitive and specific method for Her-2/neu testing. We compared immunohistochemistry (IHC) detection of Her-2/neu overexpression with differential polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to assess gene amplification of Her-2/neu in breast carcinoma. Also we evaluated the prognostic values of Her-2/neu amplification/overexpression. Materials and Method: We have studied Her-2/neu amplification/ overexpression in 163 cases of invasive ductal carcinoma of breast using paraffin-embedded tissue. The evaluation of positivity for IHC was ≥10% moderate or strong complete membranous staining. Tumors were positive for gene amplification if the ratio of Her-2/neu gene to control gene was ≥2. Results: The overexpression of Her-2/neu was detected in 39 (23.9%) cases. The amplification of Her-2/neu was detected in 37 (22.7%) cases. Both methods were positive in 21.5% of cases and negative in 74.8% of cases. There was 96.3% concordance between the two methods. The sensitivity of IHC as compared with PCR was 94.6% and the specificity 96.8%. Positivity of Her-2/neu was significantly associated with node positivity and large tumor size. Conclusion: We conclude that automation of PCR-based Her-2/neu testing approaches is expected to play an increasing role in future for Her-2/neu testing. Also we have demonstrated that IHC is a sensitive and specific method for assessing Her-2/neu status in breast cancer when compared with PCR. Her-2/neu amplification or overexpression appears to be associated with a more aggressive phenotype.
