      • Detection of Individuals Restoring Fertility by DNA Fragment Converted into STS (sequence tagged site) in Red pepper

        Co-segregation of male fertility with DNA markers selected by RAPD analysis as being potentially linked to the restorer gene (Rf) for Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) was analyzed using segregating F2 population. One RAPD marker directly linked to the Rf locus was identified. Amplification of OPT-02/570 using the STS primers generated a monomorphic band of each fertile plants randomly selected F2 progenies. From these results, this specific marker would be strongly linked to be restoring gene. The use of STS marker is effective in overcoming the reliability of the RAPD phenotype and improving their utility for MAS, co-dominant STS markers are especially very useful.

      • Hybrid Breeding of Red Pepper (Capsicum annum L.) Using Cytoplasmic Male Sterile Lines Combined with Phytophythora Resistance in Korea

        We characterized the resistances such as to waterlogging, Phytophythora and viruses in hybrids between Italian and Korean mother lines and screened them for complex resistances and agronomic traits to select elite multi-resistant lines for hybrid breeding. Resistance to waterlogging was selectable due to diversity of the resistance. Phytophythora resistance introduced from Italian lines could also be combined with resistance to other diseases and restoration abilities from cytoplasmic male sterility that has been maintained in Korean varieties.

      • AUTOMATION OF QUANTITATIVE SAFETY EVALUATION IN CHEMICAL PROCESSES

        A method to automate hazard analysis of chemical plants is proposed in this paper. The proposed system is composed of three knowledge bases - unit knowledge base, organizational knowledge base and material knowledge base, and three hazard analysis algorithms - deviation, malfunction and accident analysis algorithm. Hazard analysis inference procedure is developed based on the actual hazard analysis procedures and accident development sequence. The proposed algorithm can perform hazard analysis in two methods and represent all conceivable types of accidents using accident analysis algorithm. In addition, it provides intermediate steps in the accident propagation, and enables the analysis result to give a useful information to hazard assessment. The proposed method is successfully demonstrated by being applied to diammonium phosphate manufacturing process. A system to automate hazard analysis is developed by using the suggested method. The developed system is expected to be useful in finding the propagation path of a fault or the cause of a malfunction as it is capable to approach causes of faults and malfunctions simultaneously.

      • 靑潭의 마음사상이 人性敎育에 제시하는 敎育的 示唆

        한국 불교 1600년사에 길이 빛날 업적을 남기고, 동국 불교의 큰 별로 추앙받고 있는 청담 대종사(이순호; 1902-1971)의 유심사상을 고찰해 봄으로서 우리 나라의 현대 인성교육 발전에 시사점을 모색해 보고자 하였다. 그 시사점은 모색해보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인간주체로서의 마음을 교육하교 인간이 되는 것은 교육하는 인성교육에 그의 마음의 사상은 새로운 인식을 제공해준다. 둘째, 그의 자아의 확립과 자아발견의 교설이 자아실현을 위한 가치교육에 크게 기여하리라 본다. 셋째. 그의 마음의 사상은 유아기의 인성교육에 기초가 됨을 시사한다. 넷째, 그의 마음사상은 더불어 살기 위한 도덕교육에 시사하는 바가 크다. 다섯째, 남북통일을 대비하고 세계평화를 지향하는 평화교육에도 시사하는 바가 크다. Venerable Chung-dam's mind theory was studied in order to give implications to the development of modern personality education in Korea. Venerable Chung-dam(Soon-ho Lee: 1902-1971) produced outstanding achievements in Korean Buddhism of 1600 years and is winning respect as a great admirer of Korean Buddhism. The implications are as follows. First, his mind theory serves a new recognition to the personality education which teaches the mind as a subjective human and the way of being a human. Second, his Buddhist sermon on the perfection and discovery of self contributes on the value of education for self-realization. Third, his mind theory implicates the basis of personality education in the babyhood. Fourth, there are lots of implications of moral education to share lives in his mind theory. Last, his mind theory has a lot of implications of peace education to prepare the unification of North and South Korea and to intend to the peace of the world.

      • 力道 選手들의 筋力과 心肺機能에 관한 硏究

        The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of Strength and cardiorespiratory function of man weight lifter. Athletes group was that ten weight lifters of H University in Seoul and Non-Athletes group was that ten male students of H University did not especially player activity. Weight lifters career was about four years. The result of statistics data were as follows. 1. Comparison of Strength Back strength showed significant difference (p<0.001) between groups. Grip strength, Bench press and Squat showed significant diffence(p<0.001) between groups. 2. Comparison of Body weight. Heart Rate. HR max, VE max. VO, max, and 0.pulse. Body weight and rest heart rate showed significant difference (p<0.01) between groups and V0,max showed significant difference (p<0.001) between groups. But 0,pulse showed significant difference (p<0.001) between groups. 3. Comparison of Blood pressure During rest systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure did not showed significant difference between groups. During exercise systolic lood pressure showed significant difference (p<0.001) but during exercise diastolic blood pressure did not showed between groups.​

Xenotransplantation 2010; 17: 224–232. © 2010 John Wiley & Sons A/S.</P><P>Abstract: Background: </P><P>Xenogeneic cellular immune responses are mediated by either direct or indirect pathways depending on the participation of donor or host antigen presenting cells, respectively. The contribution of direct response of human T cells, especially memory T cells, to porcine antigen presenting cells is currently unknown. Here, we sought to determine whether human peripheral blood memory/activated phenotype T cells are directly responsive to porcine endothelial cells.</P><P>Methods: </P><P>Porcine aortic endothelial cells (PAECs) were prepared from Yorkshire or miniature pigs. Highly purified human T cells, including naïve and memory/activated phenotype cells, were incubated with PAECs with or without the addition of exogenous cytokines. T-cell proliferation and T-cell receptor (TCR) V&bgr; usage in response to PAECs were analyzed.</P><P>Results: </P><P>Both CD8<SUP>+</SUP> and CD4<SUP>+</SUP> T cells responded directly to PAECs and exhibited exclusive responsiveness to SLA class I and class II molecules, respectively. Naïve and memory/activated phenotype CD4<SUP>+</SUP> T cells responded against PAECs, whereas only naïve phenotype CD8<SUP>+</SUP> T cells contributed to such a response. In addition, both populations of xenogeneic human CD4<SUP>+</SUP> T cells exhibited similar and diverse V&bgr; usage.</P><P>Conclusion: </P><P>Due to the considerable contribution of human CD45RO<SUP>+</SUP>CD4<SUP>+</SUP> T cells to the xenoreactivity against PAECs, effective control of xenogeneic memory/activated T-cell responses would significantly affect long-term survival of transplanted grafts.</P>

      • Synthesis and Thrombin, Factor Xa and U46619 Inhibitory Effects of Non-Amidino and Amidino <i>N</i> <sup>2</sup> -Thiophenecarbonyl- and <i>N</i> <sup>2</sup> -Tosylanthranilamides

        <P>Thrombin (factor IIa) and factor Xa (FXa) are key enzymes at the junction of the intrinsic and extrinsic coagulation pathways and are the most attractive pharmacological targets for the development of novel anticoagulants. Twenty non-amidino <I>N</I><SUP>2</SUP>-thiophencarbonyl- and <I>N</I><SUP>2</SUP>-tosyl anthranilamides <B>1</B>–<B>20</B> and six amidino <I>N</I><SUP>2</SUP>-thiophencarbonyl- and <I>N</I><SUP>2</SUP>-tosylanthranilamides <B>21</B>–<B>26</B> were synthesized to evaluate their activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) and prothrombin time (PT) using human plasma at a concentration of 30 µg/mL in vitro. As a result, compounds <B>5</B>, <B>9</B>, and <B>21</B>–<B>23</B> were selected to study the further antithrombotic activity. The anticoagulant properties of <B>5</B>, <B>9</B>, and <B>21</B>–<B>23</B> significantly exhibited a concentration-dependent prolongation of in vitro PT and aPTT, in vivo bleeding time, and ex vivo clotting time. These compounds concentration-dependently inhibited the activities of thrombin and FXa and inhibited the generation of thrombin and FXa in human endothelial cells. In addition, data showed that <B>5</B>, <B>9</B>, and <B>21</B>–<B>23</B> significantly inhibited thrombin catalyzed fibrin polymerization and mouse platelet aggregation and inhibited platelet aggregation induced by U46619 in vitro and ex vivo. Among the derivatives evaluated, <I>N</I>-(3′-amidinophenyl)-2-((thiophen-2′′-yl)carbonylamino)benzamide (<B>21</B>) was the most active compound.</P>
