A Study on the Quality Management of Containerised Grains in Asia

To make the best use of the imbalance of container flows between Asia and North America, containers are employed to carry grain cargoes from North America to Asia. Three criteria and nine sub-criteria were used to help control the quality of the grain cargoes shipped in containers. AHP technique is employed through a survey to major containerised grain cargo shippers, consignees, and ocean carriers to measure the degree of importance of the determinants influencing the quality of grains transported by containers. Without appropriate facilities and strategies, containerised grains mildewed easily during ocean voyage. Researching findings provide strategies to effectively reduce the damage rate of containerized grains cargo and improve the quality of the origin of food supply chain.
An Evaluation of Free Trade Port Zone in Taiwan

This study focused on the development of FTPZs in Taiwan and examined factors influencing business activities in FTPZs and their degree of importance for improving the operational environment in FTPZs. A performance assessment of companies since operating their businesses in FTPZs was also undertaken. Data for the study were obtained from a questionnaire survey distributed to MNCs operating in FTPZs in Taiwan. The importance-performance analysis (IPA) technique was employed to analyse the survey results. Five factors were found to have a high degree of importance for business operations in FTPZs: government administration efficiency, cheap rates and charges, simplified customs procedures, clear regulations, and free tax incentives. Further, results indicated that firms in FTPZ had increased their performance in terms of reputation, investment, customer satisfaction, and revenue. The study provides insight into the evaluation and policy suggestions of FTPZ for government in Taiwan.
($IL-1{\beta}$), PDGF-BB 그리고 $TGF-{\beta}$가 사람 배양 치주인대 섬유모세포의 PDLs17 mRNA의 발현에 미치는 영향

The molecular mechanisms control the function of PDL(periodonta1 ligament) cells and/or fibroblasts remain unclear. PDLsl7, PDL-specific gene, had previousely identified the cDNA for a novel protein from cultured PDL fibroblasts using subtraction hybridization between gingival fibroblasts and PDL fibroblasts. The purpose of this study was to determine the regulation by growth factors and cytokines on PDLsl7 gene expression in cultured human periodontal ligament cells and observe the immunohistochemical localization of PDLsl7 protein in various tissues of mouse. Primary PDL fibroblasts isolated by scraping the root of the extracted human mandibular third molars. The cells were incubated with various concentration of human recombinant $IL-1{\beta}$, PDGF-BB and TGF\;${\beta}$ for 48h nd 2 weeks. At each time point total RNA was extracted and the levels of transcription ere assessed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR assay). polyclonal antiserum raised against PDLsl7 peptides, CLSVSYNRSYQINE and SEAVHETDLHDGC, were made, and stained the tooth, periodontium, developing bone, bone marrow and mid-palatal suture of the mouse. The results were as follows. 1. PDLsl7 mRNA levels were increased in response to PDGF (10ng/ml) and $TGF\;{\beta}$(20ng/ml) after treatment of the $IL-1{\beta}$, PDGF-BB and $TGF{\beta}$for 48 h. 2. PDLsl7 was up-regulated only by $TGF{\beta}$(20 ng/ml) after treatment of the $IL-1{\beta}$, PDGF-BB and $TGF\;{\beta}$ for 2 weeks and unchanged by the other stimulants. 3. PDLsl7 was a novel protein coding the 142 amino acid peptides in the ORF and the nucleotide sequences of the obtained cDNA from RT-PCR was exactly same as the nucleotides of the database. 4. Immunohistochemical analysis showed that PDLsl7 is preferentially expressed in the PDL, differentiating osteoblast-like cells and stromal cells of the bone marrow in the adult mouse. 5. The expression of PDLsl7 protein was barely detectable in gingival fibroblasts, hematopoetic cells of the bone marrow and mature osteocytes of the alveolar bone. These results suggest that PDLsl7 might upregulated by PDGF-BB or $TGF{\beta}$ and acts at the initial stage of differentiation when the undifferentiated mesenchymal cells in the bone marrow and PDL differentiate into multiple cell types. However, more research needs to be performed to gain a better understanding of the exact function of PDLsl7 during the differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal and PDL cells.

Regeneration of Periodontium with PRP does not only improve regeneration rate and density of bone but have a possibility to estimate faster healing process for soft tissue. And also, synthetic bone and xenogenic bone graft are effective on regeneration of periodontium. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of synthetic bone ($Biogran^{(R)}$) and xenogenic bone ($BBP^{(R)}$) grafts with the PRP technique on regeneration of periodontium. 52 Generally healthy Pt. who had pocket depth 5mm at any of 6 surfaces of the teeth were in the study at Dept. of Perio. in Dankook Dental Hospital. Open Flap was treated for 18 infra-bony pockets as control group, $Biogran^{(R)}$ with PRP was inserted for 25 infrabony pockets as first test group, and $BBP^{(R)}$ with PRP was inserted for 22 infrabony pockets as 2nd test group. Then evaluation was made after 3 and 6 months 1. 6 months after surgery, each difference of average probing pocket depth was $2.61{\pm}0.23$ for control, $3.40{\pm}0.30$ for 1st test, and $3.45{\pm}0.37$ for 2nd test group. 2. 6 months after surgery, each difference of clinical probing attachment level was $1.39{\pm}0.12$ for control, $2.88{\pm}0,24$ for 1st, and $2.86{\pm}0,27$ for 2nd test group. 3. 6 months after surgery, each difference of Maximal probing attachment level was $1.11{\pm}0.16$ for control, $3.28{\pm}0.30$ for 1st, and $3.27{\pm}0.35$ for 2nd test group. 4. There were significant differences for clinical change of each three group which were between average probing pocket depth and clinical attachment level of 3,6 months and minimal and maximal attachment level after 6 months 5. There were significant differences for average probing pocket depth which were only at control group and 2nd test group between 1 and 6months. For clinical attachment level and minimal and maximal proving attachment level, there was a significant difference after 6month of surgery. 6. There was no significant difference between two test groups for average probing depth, clinical attachment level, and minima1 and maximal probing attachment level. As the result, PRP with bone graft is very effective for regeneration of periodontium and there is no difference between xenogenic bone and synthetic bone.
CORBA와 JAVA를 사용한 에이전트 기반 디지털 도서관 프로토타입 구현

분산 환경에서의 디지털 도서관을 구성하기 위해서는 기본적인 디지털 도서관의 참조 모델 및 구조가 있어야 하고, 링크를 가진 멀티미디어 정보 서비스를 목적으로 하는 경우 이를 위한 링크와 문서 정보 저장 모델이 필요하다. 본 연구는 기본의 연구에서 제안된 에이전트 기반 디지털 도서관의 프로토타입을 Java와 CORBA환경을 통해 확장 구현하였다. 문서 내용과 링크 정보를 별도로 저장한 링크 관리 모델을 적용하여 디지털 도서관을 구현하였고, 웹 환경에서 디지털 도서관의 표준 프로토콜인 Z39.50을 지원하도록 하였으며 아울러 Z39.50에서 정의되지 않는 멀티미디어 표현 및 하이퍼 링크 기능을 지원하기 위한 방법을 제안하고 구현하였다.
한국재래간장으로 부터 분리한 Bacillus subtilis CCKS - 111이 생성하는 Protease의 특성 및 작용양상

한국재래간장으로부터 분리한 Bacillus subtilis CCKS-111이 생성하는 protease 생산의 최적 배양조건은 2% soluble starch, 0.2% peptone, 0.1%(NH₄)₂S₂O_8, 0.2% MgSO₄, pH 7.0, 35℃에서 24시간 배양했을 때이다. 효소의 최적작용 pH와 온도는 pH 9.0, 50℃였으며, pH 6.0~11.0의 범위와 50℃ 이상에서 불안정하였다. 금속이온 중 Cu^(2+)에 의하여 활성이 증대되었으나 K^(2+), Hg^(2+)등에 의하여 효소활성이 저해되었다. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid와 phenylmethane sulfonyl fluoride 처리에 의해 활성이 저해되어 금속이온의 영향을 받는 serine protease로 확인되었다. Km값은 2.313×10^(-4)M, V_(max)값은 39.216㎍/min이었으며, hemoglobin보다 casein을 더 잘 가수분해하였다. An alkaline protease producing microorganism was isolated from Korean traditional soy sauce and identified as Bacillus subtilis CCKS-111. The optimum culture condition of Bacillus subtilis CCKS-111 for the production of alkaline protease was as follow: 2% soluble starch, 0.2% peptone, 0.1% (NH₄)₂S₂O_8, 0.2% MgS0₄, pH 7.0, 35℃ and 24hrs. The optimum pH and temperature for the enzyme activity of alkaline protease producing Bacillus subtilis CCKS-111 were pH 9.0 and 50℃, respectively. The enzyme was relatively stable at pH 6.0~11.0 and at temperature below 40℃. The activity of the enzyme was inhibited by K^+ and Hg^(2+), whereas Cu^(2+) exhibited rather activating effects on the enzyme activity. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and phenylmethanesulfonyl fluoride inhibited the enzyme activity. This indicates that this is serine protease which requires metal ion group for the enzyme activity. Km value was 2.313×10^(-4)M/L, V_(max) value was 39.216㎍/min. This enzyme hydrolyzed casein more rapidly than the hemoglobin.
