        A multi-lane MIPI CSI receiver for mobile camera applications

        <P>In this paper, we present a multi-lane Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) Camera Serial Interface (CSI) receiver which is suitable for high-resolution camera and High-Density (HD) video applications. The presented receiver is designed to achieve parallel processing so that it reduces dynamic power consumption for multi-lane configuration. In order to facilitate parallel processing, we propose two techniques for the multi-lane receiver. The presented design receives data at the maximum rate of 4Gb/s and is verified in a standard CMOS technology.</P>

        저비용, 저전력 카메라 폰 구현을 위한 하드웨어 자원 공유가 가능한 카메라 제어 프로세서의 설계

        본 논문에서는 저비용, 저전력 카메라 폰 구현을 위한 하드웨어 자원 공유가 가능한 구조의 카메라 제어 프로세서를 제안한다. 제안한 카메라 제어 프로세서의 구조는 내부에 직접 접근 경로를 내장함으로써 베이스 밴드 프로세서가 카메라 제어 프로세서의 하드웨어 자원을 직접 활용할 수 있도록 하여 베이스 밴드 프로세서의 기능 확장과 성능 향상을 도모하는데 그 목적이 있다. 또한, 제안한 구조와 결합하여 블록 단위 클럭 차단 기법을 적용하여 저전력 소비를 구현한 결과를 기술하였다. 따라서 제안한 카메라 제어 프로세서는 시스템의 하드웨어 자원 효율성을 향상시켜 저전력, 저비용 카메라 폰 시스템 구현을 가능하게 한다. 제안한 카메라 제어 프로세서는 0.18um CMOS 공정을 사용하여 제작되었으며 면적은 3.8㎜ × 3.8㎜이다. In this paper, we propose a hardware resource sharable camera control processor (CCP) for low-cost and low-power camera cell phones. The main idea behind the proposed architecture is that adds direct access paths in the CCP to share its hardware resources so that the baseband processor expands its capabilities and boosts its performance by utilizing CCP's hardware resources. In addition, we applied a module grain clock-gating method to reduce power dissipation. Hence, the CCP can realize low-power and low-cost camera cell phones with greater hardware efficiency. This chip was fabricated in a 0.18um CMOS process with an active area of 3.8㎜ × 3.8㎜.

        Isoflavone-deprived soy peptide suppresses mammary tumorigenesis by inducing apoptosis

        During carcinogenesis, NF-κB mediates processes associated with deregulation of the normal control of proliferation, angiogenesis, and metastasis. Thus, suppression of NF-κB has been linked with chemoprevention of cancer. Accumulating findings reveal that heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) is a molecular chaperone and a component of the IκB kinase (IKK) complex that plays a central role in NF-κB activation. HSP90 also stabilizes key proteins involved in cell cycle control and apoptosis signaling. We have determined whether the exogenous administration of isoflavone-deprived soy peptide prevents 7,12-dimethylbenz[α]anthracene (DMBA)-induced rat mammary tumorigenesis and investigated the mechanism of action. Dietary administration of soy peptide (3.3 g/rat/day) significantly reduced the incidence of ductal carcinomas (50%), the number of tumors per multiple tumor-bearing rats (49% P < 0.05), and extended the latency period of tumor development (8.07 ± 0.92 weeks) compared to control diet animals (10.80 ± 1.30 P < 0.05). Our results have further demonstrated that soy peptide (1) dramatically inhibits the expression of HSP90, thereby suppressing signaling pathway leading to NF-κB activation; (2) induces expression of p21, p53, and caspase- 3 proteins; and (3) inhibits expression of VEGF. In agreement with our in vivo data, soy peptide treatment inhibited the growth of human breast MCF-7 tumor cells in a dose-dependent manner and induced apoptosis. Taken together, our in vivo and in vitro results suggest chemopreventive and tumor suppressive functions of isoflavone-deprived soy peptide by inducing growth arrest and apoptosis.

      • Adaptive Threshold Calibration Algorithm for Infrared Wireless Optical Mouse

        We proposed a new infrared wireless optical mouse system with a dual-band infrared receiver which can support two different carrier frequencies. However, the prior system could only cover a short-range of transmission distance because there was no consideration for infrared intensity changes caused by variations of transmission distance. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an adaptive threshold calibration (ATC) algorithm to cover a wide-range of transmission distance in optical links. With the proposed algorithm to the infrared wireless communication of the prior system, the infrared wireless optical mouse system is able to make a successful data transmission despite the infrared intensity variations. The ATC algorithm for the infrared wireless optical mouse system is designed in FPGA devices with USB 1.1 as an interface to a PC. The system can be utilized as an USB human interface device in a standard PC and cover a wide-range of up to 3.3 meters with the average data rates of 1.5kb/s via optical links.

        Track following Control with DFT Estimator for Eccentric Error Compensation of Optical Disk Driver

        <P>This paper proposes a dynamic eccentric error compensation architecture for the tracking follow controller of optical disk drivers. For enhancing the tracking performance in an optical disk drive servo system, it is essential to attenuate periodic disturbances which are caused by revolutions of the disk. Periodic disturbances can be attenuated using a discrete Fourier transform estimator with the known disturbance frequency provided by a motor driver. Optical disk drivers support various speeds. So optical disk drivers have a varying periodic disturbance. To deal with time varying periodic disturbances, a proposed eccentric error compensation controller is turned based on sinusoidal generator to follow the change of reference period. The disturbance estimator uses the discrete Fourier transform method that models the periodic disturbance. We present simulative and experimental results and show that the proposed control scheme enables a significant improvement of the tracking accuracy of the radial servomechanism and the random access time. We implement the proposed eccentric error controller on the system on chip (SOC).</P>

        Although DC ground resistance is a good index of performance for a grounding system, it does not reflect the grounding performance during the transient states. Besides, impulse ground impedance, which is defined by a ratio of the peak value of transient ground potential rise to the peak value of impulse current, cannot be an absolute performance index due to its dependence on impulse current shape. In this paper, a grounding performance of needle-typed ground rod has been compared with simple ground rod.

        AGR2, a mucinous ovarian cancer marker, promotes cell proliferation and migration

        Ovarian cancer is a leading cause of death in women. Early detection of ovarian cancer is essential to decrease mortality. However, the early diagnosis of ovarian cancer is difficult due to a lack of clinical symptoms and suitable molecular diagnostic markers. Thus,identification of meaningful tumor biomarkers with potential clinical application is clearly needed. To search for a biomarker for the early detection of ovarian cancer,we identified human anterior gradient 2 (AGR2)from our systematic analysis of paired normal and ovarian tumor tissue cDNA microarray. We noted a marked overexpression of AGR2 mRNA and protein in early stage mucinous ovarian tumors compared to normal ovarian tissues and serous type ovarian tumors by Western blot analysis and immunohistochemistry. To further elucidate the role of AGR2 in ovarian tumorigenesis,stable 2774 human ovarian cancer cell lines overexpressing AGR2 were established. Forced expression of AGR2 in 2774 cells enhanced the growth and migration of ovarian cancer cells. AGR2 protein was detected in the serum of mucinous ovarian cancer patients by Western blot and ELISA analysis. Thus,AGR2 is a potential biomarker for the diagnosis of mucinous ovarian cancer and an ELISA assay may facilitate the early detection of mucinous ovarian cancer using patient serum.
