Inter-carrier Interference Reduction Scheme for SFBC-OFDM Systems

In this paper, we first analyze carrier-to-interferenceratio performance of the space–frequency block codedorthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (SFBCOFDM)system in the presence of phase noise (PHN) andresidual carrier frequency offset (RCFO). From theanalysis, we observe that conventional SFBC-OFDMsystems suffer severely in the presence of PHN and RCFO. Therefore, we propose a new inter-carrier interference(ICI) self-cancellation method — namely, ISC — forSFBC-OFDM systems to reduce the ICI caused by PHNand RCFO. Through the simulation results, we show thatthe proposed scheme compensates the ICI caused by PHNand RCFO in Alamouti SFBC-OFDM systems and has abetter performance than conventional schemes.

Tracheobronchial ruptures (TBR) rarely complicate surgical procedures under general anesthesia. Seemingly uneventful intubations can result in injury to the trachea, which often manifests as hemoptysis and subcutaneous emphysema. We present 2 patients with postintubation TBR who were treated surgically and discuss considerations in the management of this potentially lethal injury.
明治時代の國文學史記述における江戶戱作─ 國文學の形成と關連して

今日、江戶戱作は、<國文學>あるいは<日本古典文學>という樺組みに當り前のように入っている。しかし、明治時代の言說空間は、江戶戱作をどう位置づければいいか、樣□な立場から困難さを示していた。明治時代は木版印刷から活字印刷へと、印刷術の變化により、江戶戱作が多量に復刊された。それと同時に幾つかの國文學史も相次ぎ出版された。それら國文學史は槪ね敎科用の書籍であったが、では、それら國文學史は、當時流行っていた江戶戱作をどう評價し、かつどう位置づけていたのか。本論では、明治時代の主なる國文學史と言える①芳賀矢一·立花銑三朗編、『國文學讀本』、富山房、明治23(1890) ②上田万年、『國文學』、雙二館、明治23(1890) ③三上參次·高津초三朗、『日本文學史』上下、金港堂、明治23(1890) を中心として探ってみた。その結果、それら文學史は江戶戱作を取り上げることにおいて相當な困難さを示していることがわかった。それは江戶戱作の遊戱的もしくは猥褻野卑なる傾向のためで、當時は東京帝國大學を中心として、新しい國造りの一つとして國體を强調する勢いだった。つまり、遊戱的もしくは猥褻野卑なる江戶戱作こそ、國體の精神には符合していない<國の文學>だという理由から、江戶戱作をありがままに取り上げることにおいて困難さ、あるいは搖らぎを示していたのである。 With the introduction of typography, the history of Japanese literature and Edo Gesaku(ficition) was published in the Meiji era. How the history of Japanese literature did to evaluate against the entertaining and obscene Edo Gesaku(ficition)? I``ve searched around the 1)Yaichi Haga·Senzaburo Tachibana『Kokubungaku(Japanese literature) Dokuhon』(1890) 2)Manen Ueda『Kokubungaku(Japanese literature)』 (1890) 3)Sanzi Mikami·Kuwazaburo Takatsu『The History of Japanese literature』 (1890) in this paper. What is mentioned about Edo Gesaku(fiction) was difficult to them. It was because of the entertaining and obscene trend of Edo Gesaku(fiction). In other words, Edo Gesaku(fiction) is because do not conform to the spirit of Japan.
Analysis of the Emission Benefits of Using Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) for Ships

The marine industry contributes a large proportion of the air pollutant emissions along coastal regions, and this air pollution has been strongly linked to cardiovascular diseases and other illnesses. To alleviate the problem, many ports have installed alternative maritime power (AMP) facilities that enable onboard marine auxiliary engines with generators (gensets) to be shut down while a ship is at berth. This study compared the emissions from conventional gensets with those from AMP facilities, focusing on four emission types: greenhouse gases (GHG), sulphur oxides (SOX), nitrogen oxides (NOX), and particulate matter (PM). Both direct (combustion / operation) and indirect (upstream) emissions were considered together for the emission comparison. The results showed that AMP has lower emissions than conventional onboard gensets, and this benefit is highly dependent on the electricity generation mix onshore. On average, GHG emissions could be reduced by about 18.3 %, while the other emissions (SOX, NOX, and PM) would decrease more dramatically (88.4 %, 90.1 %, and 91.5 %, respectively). Additionally, future benefits of the AMP would increase due to the expansion of renewable energies. Thus, this study supports the potential of AMP as a promising solution for environmental concerns at ports worldwide.
A Study on Safe School Zone System using LabVIEW

The total number of deaths by traffic accidents is decreasing every year in our country. However, in 2009, children died in traffic accidents at a rate of 2.3 deaths per 100,000 children, which was higher than the average of OECD countries (1.9 deaths per 100,000 children). In particular, traffic accidents are showing rapid increase in school zone during the past 2 years because of problems in the designation and management of school zone. Traffic safety facilities such as road sign, reflector mirror, speed bump have the ultimate limit of vehicle accidents prevention. Thus, in school zone, children safety is still not guaranteed due to illegal parking and the absence of driver s awareness of safety. Therefore, In order to protect children from traffic accidents within school zones, we have realized a safe school zone system, which enables the drivers to better know the intended school zones and creates pedestrian environment through unmanned monitoring camera, using LabVIEW.
