Purpose This study analyzes influencing factors on smart phone user's perceived satisfaction, continuous use intention, and recommendation intention. Methods The influencing factors include usefulness, convenience, appearance, enjoyment, innovation, security, and privacy, whereas response is measured through satisfaction, continuous use intention, and recommendation intention. Two methods are employed - decision tree using GINI index and random forest approach. Results The analysis results revealed that most significant factors for user’s satisfaction and continuous use intention are usefulness in daily life and that usefulness in daily life and fashion are influential to recommendation intention. According to the Random Forest Model, the importance of usefulness in daily life and efficient handling of tasks were crucial for satisfaction level, the importance of rapid access to information for continuous use intention, and a combination of fashion for recommendation intention. Conclusion The findings of this study are consistent with existing literature in the sense that the usefulness is important. We additionally suggest that fast information accessibility and fashion should be recognized as important factors in smart watch industry.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the situations and problems of the current health insurance fees for trauma surgeries. Methods: We reviewed the medical records and billing data from trauma surgeries performed in the hospital from August 2012 to July 2014. The name and number of surgeries were investigated and the code and number of operations prescribed by surgeons were compared with the number of cases actually billed to insurance. In addition, the results returned by the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Services (HIRA) after deduction were investigated and compared to verify the insurance review findings. Results: During the study period, total 1,534 trauma surgical procedures were performed for a total of 253 trauma patients. Based on names, 1,092 procedures were performed; however, 442 cases (28.8%) could not be prescribed because of lack of proper insurance codes for the procedures. A total of 1,046.5 surgical procedures were prescribed by surgeons, adjusted by the insurance team, and finally billed to the HIRA; 162 bills were returned from the HIRA after rate reductions, corresponding to a reduction rate of 15.5%. The major reason for reduction was “fee criteria and limited number”. The compensation rate for billed surgical procedures was 84.5%. Conclusion: The high reduction and low compensation rate for trauma surgery under the current Korean National Health Insurance System need to be reviewed and improved. Furthermore, it is necessary to establish new criteria for surgical procedures fees for latest ones such as damage control surgery performed on severe trauma patients.

Background/Aims Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) are essential for clinical decision making, conduction of clinical research, and drug application acquisition in functional gastrointestinal disorders. The aim of this study is to develop a PRO instrument and to determine the respondents’ perception of the efficacy of therapeutic agents for functional dyspepsia (FD). Methods A self-evaluation questionnaire for dyspepsia (SEQ-DYSPEPSIA) was developed and validated through a structured process. The 2-week reproducibility was evaluated, and the construct validity was assessed by correlating the scores of SEQ-DYSPEPSIA (including typical and major FD symptom subscales). Finally, the response to medication was assessed by comparing the changes after 4 weeks of treatment. Results A total of 193 Korean patients (age 48.5 ± 13.6 years, 69.4% women) completed the questionnaire. SEQ-DYSPEPSIA with 11 items had a good internal consistency (alpha = 0.770-0.905) and an acceptable test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.733-0.859). The self-evaluation questionnaire (SEQ)-major FD score highly correlated with the postprandial fullness/early satiety domain of the Patient Assessment of Gastrointestinal Symptom Severity Index (correlation coefficient r = 0.741, P < 0.001), Nepean Dyspepsia Index-Korean version (NDI-K) (r = 0.839, P < 0.001), and NDI-K quality of life (r = -0.275 to -0.344, P < 0.001). After medical treatment, decrease in the SEQ-typical FD and SEQ-major FD was significantly greater in the responder group than in nonresponder group (P = 0.019 and P = 0.009, respectively). Conclusion This study suggests that the Korean version of SEQ-DYSPEPSIA has good reliability and validity, and can be a useful PRO measurement tool in patients with FD. The thermal effect ability of an ultrasound contrast agent (UCA) in high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) therapy was evaluated. This was done using a thermal effect simulation program using a microbubble-cloud model and modified Pennes Bio-Heat Transfer Equation (BHTE). In order to design the proposed simulation program, a spherical microbubble-cloud model was developed. Next, the proposed simulation program was experimentally investigated by ultrasound phantom experiments using commercial HIFU equipment and UCA, and the change of thermal effect according to the microbubble-cloud population ratio was measured. The HIFU thermal effect simulations using the properties of UCA were compared with the phantom experiments, which provided concordant results.

We report a novel synthetic route for the synthesis of Tm3+/Yb3+ co-doped calcium molybdate (CaMoO4) nanoparticles by using pulsed laser ablation in ethanol. The crystalline phase, particle morphology, particle size distribution, laser ablation mechanism, and upconversion (UC) luminescent properties are investigated. Stable colloidal suspensions consisting of well-dispersed Tm3+/Yb3+ co-doped CaMoO4 nanoparticles with a narrow size distribution could be obtained without any surfactant. Under 980-nm excitation, a Tm3+/Yb3+ co-doped nanocolloidal CaMoO4 suspension showed bright blue emission at a wavelength near 475 nm, which was generated by the 1G4 ! 3H6 transition, and a weak red emission at a wavelength near 650 nm due to the 3F2 ! 3H6 transition. The Tm3+/Yb3+ co-doped nanocrystalline CaMoO4 suspension exhibited a strong blue emission visible to the naked eyes, and a possible UC mechanism that depends on the pump-power dependence is discussed in detail.
