      • Benign Partial Epilepsy with Occipital Paroxysm 1례

        Benign epilepsy of childhood with occipital paroxysm is characterized by seizures which include visual symptoms followed by motor manifestations. The EEG is also characterized by repetitive occipital discharges of spikes, sharp waves or spike-wave complexes appearing only after eye closure. No occipital lesions have been found, the children are neurologically normal. Recently we experienced a case of benign epilepsy of childhood with occipital paroxysm which showed favorable response to anticonvulsant treatment. A brief review of related literatures is included in this report

        치과 임플란트용 순 Ti의 접촉부식 거동

        One of the fields in which titanium(Ti) is becoming increasingly valuable is the field of biomaterials. Ti had shown its good corrosion resistance, high strength to weight ratio, and compatibility with human tissues. Such applications of Ti in this area involve replacing stainless steel and cobalt-chromium alloy implant which are used in skull, shoulder joint, spine, and dental implant. In dental field, titanium has been used as dental implant, so it becomes necessary to examine and estimate the anti-corrosion ability of Ti and its alloys at the severe conditions such as crevice corrosion and galvanic corrosion. The purposes of this study was to examine the corrosion mechanisms of the pure Ti showing good corrosion resistance under an oral corrosion environment when it is coupled with dental casting Type Ⅱ and Type Ⅳ gold alloys. These coupling corrosion mechanisms were studied in three conditions. First was by measuring the resting potential of pure Ti, when it was uncoupled and coupled with Type Ⅱ and Type Ⅳ alloys. Second was by measuring anode polarization behavior of pure Ti, Type Ⅱ and Type Ⅳ alloys, and third was by detecting dissolved ions from the pure Ti, uncoupled and coupled with Type Ⅱ and Type Ⅳ gold alloys which were immersed in 0.9% NaCl solution for 7 days. The resting potential showed a low potential value at the initial stage but increasing into a high value (to 0.18 V) with time elapse and reached a stable value. On the contrary, the potentials of Type Ⅱ and Type Ⅳ gold alloys were in their values at the initial stage of immersion, then decreased with the time and reached stable values, being higher than the value of pure Ti. When pure Ti coupled with Type Ⅱ and Type Ⅳ gold alloys, the resting potential of coupled one was between the values of each one. When Type Ⅱ and Type Ⅳ gold alloys were coupled with pure Ti, there was an increase in Ag, Cu, and Zn. Also, Zn ions released the high potential precious metal alloys, compared to the uncoupled case. Ti ion was not detected at any cases of pure Ti or coupled with gold alloys. It was thought that one of the causes of the increase in Ag, Zn, and Cu ions when Ti was coupled with dental gold alloys was that Ag, Zn, and Cu ions were selectively dissoluted from the Ag rich regions around grain boundary and the casting defects. In conclusions, the results of this study suggest that the pure Ti was very stable when coupled with the gold alloys in oral cavity.

      • OLED 패널 위한 PLD 공정 개발

        Organic light emitting diode panel was fabricared using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) method. Nd-YAG laser with Q-Switched and 355 nm pulse was used for the PLD processes. While TPD(N,N'-Di-[naphthaleny]-N,N'-dipheny]-benzidine) was used as a HTL(hole transport layer), Alq_(3)(8-Hydroxyquinoline, Aluminum Salt) was used as EML/ETL(emitting layer/electron transport layer). Organic pellet was fabricated and employed as a target for the PLD method. The absorbances of the organic films were investigated and the measured absorbance values of TPD and AIq_(3) films were 362㎚ and 399㎚, repectively. The turn-on voltage of the OLED panel was 7.5 V and its luminance was 90 ㏅/m^(2).

        임플란트 보철물에서 임시 접착용 시멘트의 인장결합강도 비교

        The major disadvantage of cement-retained implant-supported superstructure is difficulty of retrievability. Sometimes, it is recommended that proetheses be provisionally cemented to implant abutment in order to ebaluate occlusion, screw loosening and tissue reaction. The retention of the provisional luting cementedusually employed in this case is considered to be important. This study compared tensile bond strength of gold crowns cemented to machined titanium implant abutments with three provisional luting cements. Also the effect of petrolatum and thermocycling on tensile bond stength were evaluated. Tensile bond strength of provisional luting cement were as follows with the decreasing order of Eugenol (13.06±1.544 kgf), Temp-Bond (9.41±0.737 kgf), Cavex (8.04±0.974 kgf), and Temp-bond with petrolatum (5.28±0.800 kgf). The addition of petrolatum in Temp-bond decreased tensile bond strength significantly (p<0.01). After thermocycling of 1,500 cycles, the tensile bond strengths of the cements were decreased with the order of Nogenol (10.87±3.031 kgf), Temp-Bond (8.1±0.667 kgf), Cavex (7.33±1.103 kgf), Temp-bond with petrolatum (4.88±1.348 kgf). The mocycling decreased the bond strength of Temp-Bond significantly, with no effects no other cements (p<0.01).

        Effect of Acute Ethanol Intoxication on Hepatic Rhodanese Activity in Rats with Extrahepatic Cholestasis

        Liver and serum rhodanese activities were determined in acute ethanol intoxicated rats with extrahepatic cholestasis induced by common bile duct ligation (CBD) to manifest the biochemical background of alcohol drinking hazard under the hepatobiliary disease. Liver cytosolic and microsomal rhodanese activities and these Vmax values in CBD ligated rats with acute ethanol intoxication were found to be decreased much more than that in CBD ligation alone. However, the difference of Km value on above hepatic enzyme was not found between the experimental groups. On the other hand, serum rhodanese activity in CBD ligated rats with acute ethanol intoxication was greater increased more than that in CBD ligation alone. These results indicate that the biosynthesis of the hepatic rhodanese decreases and the serum rhodanese activity increases in cholestasis combined with acute ethanol intoxication. reflecting damage of aggravated hapatocytic membrane. Accordingly, the resulting data supported the fact that alcoholic drinks were enzymologically harmful to the hepatobiliary disease.

      • 로보트 음성 인식 시스템의 설계에 관한 연구

        In this paper, a speech recognition system of robot was designed and constructed with speaker dependent system. Speech was recognized by using zero-crossing period, log energy and speech magnitude, and filter bank method. Minimum distance of unknown speech was recognized. Speech recognition system was constructed with parallel processing for real time discrimination. By using hadshaking method, the data was transferred between main computer, "APPLE" and auxiliary processor. The rate of speech recognition was about 80% to 90%, which had some variance for reference pattern. This system was designed for HERO-1 robot. But, by modification of interface circuit any other robot will be controlled.

        This paper deals with the control problem of a prosthetic arm using Allpe Ⅱ microcomputer by time series analysis. AR model is used to identify the EMG signal and the parameters of AR model are treated as the feature values for the function discrimination using Bayesian classifier. The experimental result shows 70 percent success in discrimination between five limb functions.

        농경지 토양의 토질요소와 평가 방법의 검토

        In agricultural ecosystem, soils which play important roles of storage and cycling of substances become a crtitical social problem due to rapid increase of contaminants with respect to our health. Soil as productivity should be interpreted as soil quality, that is important criteria in maintaining sustainable agriculture for production of safe food. Therefore, it needs to set the criteria of soil quality by considering environmental factors including relevant parameters which are involved in soil quality soil health because soils are widely distributed and have various characteristics such as physical, chemical, and biological propevties. Therefore, it requires intensive investigation of evaluation methods and development of related parameters for environmentally sound agriculture and safe soil management.

      • 근전도 신호의 패턴인식을 통한 의수의 컴퓨터 제어

        This paper deals with the decision of 7 primitive motions of the arm by EMG pattern recognition using IMB PC. The EMG signals are detected from silver/silver Chloride surface electrodes, and IBM PC calculates the likelyhood probability and the decision function on the feature space of integral absolute value. Multiclass decision rule and learning algorithm are introduced for high decision rate. All procedures are programmed in assembly language for the real time implementation and the co-processor 8087(numeric data processor) is used for the exponential function and the probability calculation. On our experimental results from the experted simulator, the decision rate of more than 90 percent can be obtained.

        치과용 콤퍼머의 마찰·마멸거동

        The friction and wear characteristics and wear mechanisms of dental compomers were investigated. Compomers such as Compoglass, F2000, Elan and Dyract AP were selected as specimens. Surface characteristics was examined by SEM and contents of glass fillers in specimens were determinated in order to analyze the effect of the fillers in fraction and wear characteristics. Ball on flat wear tester was used for a wear test. Friction and wear tests are carried out at room temperature. The friction coefficient of F2000 was quite high relatively, and the wear resistance of Compoglass and Dyract AP was better than that of F2000 and other specimens at the same experimental condition. The main wear mechanism is brittle fatigue of glass fillers, plastic flow and abrasive wear by crack propagation.
