Ultrasonic NDE of composite laminates is usually analyzed on the backwall echoes of the specimen. In the inspection of actual composite structures, the back surface of the part was curved or contained complex geometry and did not provide a usable backwall echo. In this work, a one-sided pitch-catch setup was used in the detection and evaluation of flaws and material anomalies in solid composite laminates. Two miniature potted Rayleigh wave transducers (for generating surface waves in contact mode on steel) were joined head-to-head and used in the pitch-catch mode on the surface of composites. The pitch-catch signal was found to be more sensitive than normal incidence backwall echo of longitudinal wave to fiber orientation of the CFRP composites, including low level porosity, ply waviness, and cracks.

호오돈의 'My Kinsman, Major Molineux'의 다면적 해석

The main purpose of this story is to illuminate the theme of Hawthorne's My Kinsman, Major Molineux, In connection with its thematic study, this story is classified into two ways of interpretations; one of the two chief interpretation is that this story is deeply involved with basic problems of American self-realization. The story can be interpreted as a historical parable which is characteristic of the history of the colonies especially in the opening paragraph. As most of Americans arrive at a promising land of America, Robin, a young hero, who thinks himself shrewd but is really naive, arrives in Boston one evening of summer seeking the wealthy uncle who had offered to help him rise in the world, only to discover after much fruitless inquiry Major Molineux, his kinsman, tarred and feathered and being ridden out of town by mob. So he painfully learns that he must rise in the world without the help of his kinsman (who represents England in the story) as Americans must get out of the domain of England and declare their independence. So it is suggested that the tale be subtitled "America Comes of Age" and as a historical parable in which Robin represents the Young America who has come to town, that is, the contemporary scene where the historic future will be decided. However, the other interpretation arises from the development in the pattern of hero's action. The main reason that such interpretation can be made possible is that Robin does not know revolutional atmosphere except at the last part of the story while he is in quest of his kinsman. At the spectacle of his kinsman's humiliation he is keenly aware of the fact that he must stand his feet without the help of his kinsman. In any event he has achieved the beginning of wisdom or moral maturity in realizing that he is not shrewd as he had supposed. Some view My Kinsman, Major Molineux as an initiation story because Robin completes his initiation to fulfill his quest for moral reality; his adventures are a journey from dark innocence to painfully illuminated knowledge, an experience that prepares him for a new life. Inevitably, too, the story has been interpreted in Freudian terms, Robin's actions illustrating the necessity of overthrowing paternal authority if he is to achieve maturity. Readers agree that the story does indeed come up to the standard of the best that he can achieve. In fact, because of its diversified appeal, it may be the most widely read of Hawthorne's stories.

CXTFIT기법을 이용한 오염토양의 중금속 이동특성에 관한 연구

The sorption and transport characteristics of Cd and Pb is founded by changing of soil concentration and velocity of injected Cd and Pb solution. The results of batch-type experiment indicated that sorption capacity of Pb was stronger than sorption capacity of Cd. Batch-type experiment indicated that the results of Cd and Pb adsorption experiment fitted in the Freundlich isotherm equation well and were highly nonlinear. Results from column experiment showed the retention of the transport of heavy metals at low concentration, low velocity and high pH in soil of different characteristics. The BTCs of the heavy metals were analysed by using a two-site model, and transport parameters were derived by using the CXTFIT curve-fitting program. The model results indicated that the partitoning coefficient(β), forward rate coefficient(Ks) and backward rate coefficient(kd) were in proportion to the concentration, velocity and pH.

施設栽培 고추 連作土壤의 生化學的 性質

고추 施設栽培 連作土壤의 生化學的 特性을 究明하기 위하여 化學性, 微生物相, 酸素活性 및 腐植의 形態를 調査한 結果를 要約하면 다음과 같다. 1. 土壤化學性은 pH가 5.1-5.9範圍이고 EC는 0.66-0.82mS/㎝ 有機物은 3.15-3.52%, NH₄-N은 2.92-10.30mg/100g, N0₃-N은 19.50-47.55mg/100g, CEC는14.7-15.25me/100g, 有效 燐酸의 範圍는 285.5-304.0ppm으로 連作年數에 따른 土壤化學 成分의 變化 樣相은 一定한 傾向을 찾을 수 없었다. 2. 微生物相은 細菌과 絲狀菌은 連作年數에 따라 증가하였고, 放射狀菌은 減少 후 다시 증가하였으며, Fusarium과 Pythium 屬菌은 減少하였다. Phytophtora 屬菌은 증가하였으며 B/F는 감소하다 약간 증가하였다. 3. 酸素活性은 連作年數에 따라 phosphatase, β-glucosidase, 그리고 protease는 증가하였으나 polygalacturonase는 減少하였다. 4. 腐植의 形態를 보면 腐植酸과 fulvic산의 範圍는 各各 247.1-303.1과 85.1-364.5mg/100g으로 腐植酸은 連作年數에 따라 특별한 傾向은 없었으나 Fulvic酸은 連作年數에 따라 增加는 傾向이었다. 沈澱比率(PQ)은 38.5-78.2로써 多連作일수록 減少하는 傾向이었다. RF는 8.9-19.5, △ logK는 0.7291-0.8223이었으며 腐植酸의 形態는 腐植化度가 낮은 RP形이었다. Chemical properties, microorganisms, enzyme activities and types of humus were investigated to study the characteristics of continuous cropping soils grown pepper plant under plastic house. The results are as follows : 1. Changes of soil chemical properties had not particular characteristics on pH, EC, CEC, organic matter, NH₄-N, NO₃-N, available phosphorous, and exchangable cation, but generally increased for the continuous cropping years. 2. Bacteria, fungi and actinomycetes increased with continuous cropping years. Pythium decreased and then increased with increasing cropping years, but phytophthora increased. 3. Activities of phosphatase, β-glucosidase and protease increased, but the activity of galacturonase decreased with continuous cropping years. 4. The humic acid was not particular characteristic, but fulvic acid increased with continuous cropping years, PQ was between 38.5 and 78.2% and the value decreased with continuous cropping years. RF was between 8.9 and 19.5 △ log K was between 0.7291 and 0.8223. The humic acid was classified as RP type which is low degree of humification.

One thing we can not leave out when we read his short stories and novels related with the home is that Hawthorne's real concept of a home originated from his historical perception of New England. Hawthorne was an artist in the period of the 19C American Renaissance when the thoughts of the age had been changing. Nevertheless he, as a successor to disappearing tradition, could not easily forget the moralnightmare which the inordinate actions of Puritan ancestors, such as William Hathorne, his first ancestor who was the persecutor of Quakers and John Hathorne as the inheritor of the persecuting spirit who was involved in witch trials, had stirred up. Therefore, his creative behavior is both the purification of self-suppression and prayers for forgiveness for his ancestor's wrong-doings. The house in The House of the Seven Gables goes back to 200 years before his lifetime and describes the effect which the past of this house has on the present. And so the house can be seen from the viewpoint of both the development and interation of the houses in the wilderness. In The House of the Seven Gables where he uses as a central setting, Hawthorne presented double-sided views of the house in which the corruption of morality is inherent, contrasted with its outward grandeur. He revelas the burden of the characters pressed under the guilt of the house and their attempts to escape from the moral darkness and opens the future to the new house from the old house of inherited corruption. Through the house as artificial setting, he presented a pitiful aspiration and jfrustration, the sense of guilt and remorse, and restriction and liberation. Thus Hawthorne successfully reflected his theme, conflict and reconcilication through the house as the setting appropriate and natural for his works.

k-palatalization occurs most naturally when those phonemes are combined with ◁그림삽입▷ vowels. When /k/, /k^h/, /k’/ are combined with hi-syllabic single lexical morphemes, the phenomenon of palatalization does not arise. The comination of those morphemes above with grammatical morphemes does not allow palatalization in spite of the number of increased syllables to more than three Complex words with free morphemes preceding other morphemes prevent palatalization. /i/ which is derived from a diphthong does not cause k-palatalization, but pure/i/ does k-palatalization of Chinese characters occurs naturally at the initial position of words. t-palatalization occurs only at a morpheme boundary. /i/ derived from a diphthong except pure /i/ does not bring about t-palatalization. t-palatalization is blocked when a word boundary marker exists. h-palatalization occurs most naturally at the initial position of words. /l/ which is derived from a diphthong except for pure /l/, does not cause h-palatalization. The phenomenon of Fortition Palatalization exists in Chejudo dialects.

The intake process of a single cylinder spark-ignition engine was studied numerically and experimentally. Method of characteristics was used to calculate the pressure wave phenomena in the intake system. The calculated volumetric efficecy as a function of engine speed was compared with the experimentally measured value. The comparison showed good agreement at low engine speed but some discrepancy at high speed.
