Enhancing the Security of Credit Card Transaction based on Visual DSC

        ( Kuo-jui Wei ),( Jung-san Lee ),( Shin-jen Chen ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2015 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.9 No.3

People have transferred their business model from traditional commerce to e-commerce in recent decades. Both shopping and payment can be completed through the Internet and bring convenience to consumers and business opportunities to industry. These trade techniques are mostly set up based on the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). SSL provides the security for transaction information and is easy to set up, which makes it is widely accepted by individuals. Although attackers cannot obtain the real content even when the transferred information is intercepted, still there is risk for online trade. For example, it is impossible to prevent credit card information from being stolen by virtual merchant. Therefore, we propose a new mechanism to solve such security problem. We make use of the disposable dynamic security code (DSC) to replace traditional card security code. So even attackers get DSC for that round of transaction, they cannot use it for the next time. Besides, we apply visual secret sharing techniques to transfer the DSC, so that interceptors cannot retrieve the real DSC even for one round of trade. This way, we can improve security of credit card transaction and reliability of online business. The experiments results validate the applicability and efficiency of the proposed mechanism.

Investigation of Zinc-Tin-Oxide Thin-Film Transistors with Varying SnO2 Contents

        Po-Jui Kuo,Sheng-Po Chang,Shoou-Jinn Chang 대한금속·재료학회 2014 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.10 No.1

Zinc tin oxide (ZTO) thin-film transistors (TFTs) were prepared on a glass substrate by deposition using radio frequency (RF) magnetron co-sputtering, followed by annealing at 300°C for 20 min. The properties of ZTO thin films were found to be dependent on the atomic compositional ratio of Zn:Sn; the device performance and operational stability of the fabricated ZTO TFTs, including the mobility, on-off current ratio, threshold voltage, and subthreshold slope, were strongly influenced by the Sn content. Better TFT performance was achieved when the Sn content in the ZTO thin film was low, and the optimal mobility was 18 cm2 V−1 s−1, threshold voltage was 0.5 V, and subthreshold slope was 0.227 V·dec−1. Notably, the device performance and operational stability of the RF magnetron co-sputtered ZTO TFTs could be improved by optimizing the Zn:Sn atomic compositional ratio in the films.

Effects of Caponization and Testosterone on Bone and Blood Parameters of SCWL Male Chickens

        Chen, Kuo-Lung,Tsay, Shiow-Min,Lo, Dan-Yuan,Kuo, Feng-Jui,Wang, Jiann-Hsiung,Chiou, Peter Wen-Shyg Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2007 Animal Bioscience Vol.20 No.5

This study was to investigate the caponization effects on bone characteristics in male chickens, and the optimum testosterone implantation dosage on bone characteristics improvement. Healthy Single Comb White Leghorn cockerels were caponized at 12-wk-old and selected at 16-wk-old for a 10-wk feeding experiment. Fifteen intact male and caponized male chickens (capon) respectively were assigned to trial 1. Ten sham-operated chickens and 40 capons (randomly allocated into four treatments) were implanted with cholesterol (1.62 mm i.d., 3.16 mm o.d., $9.24{\pm}0.36$ mg), low (1 mm i.d., 3 mm o.d., $5.88{\pm}0.23$ mg), medium (1.62 mm i.d., 3.16 mm o.d., $9.81{\pm}0.17$ mg) or high dose (2 mm i.d., 4 mm o.d., $16.7{\pm}0.24$ mg) of testosterone in trial 2. The results from trial 1 showed that the tibia length, relative tibia weight, breaking strength, bending moment and stress in intact males were higher than capons (p<0.05). The blood phosphorus concentration in capons was higher than the intact male chickens (p<0.05). Caponization also resulted in more antrums and osteoclasts within periosteum and cortical bone from histological observation. In trial 2, the adverse impact of caponization on the bone breaking strength, bending moment and stress could be alleviated through medium dose testosterone implantation. It appears that caponization reduced androgen secretion hence influenced the biomechanical characteristics of bone (tibia) and these adverse effects could be alleviated through appropriate dose of testosterone implantation.

Investigations of Silty Soil Slopes under Unsaturated Conditions Based on Strength Reduction Finite Element and Limit Analysis

        An-Jui Li,Joram Wachira Mburu,Chao Wei Chen,Kuo-Hsin Yang 대한토목학회 2022 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.26 No.3

Matric suction plays a key role in slope stability by conferring an apparent cohesion component to the unsaturated portion of the soil. This paper adopts the total cohesion method to investigate the contribution of apparent cohesion on the stability of silty slopes under hydrostatic conditions. Phase2 and Optum G2 numerical programs, based on strength reduction finite element analysis and finite element limit analysis methods, respectively, are used for numerical analysis. Generally, Phase2 and Optum G2 results are in good agreement with each other. Optum G2 yields slightly higher factor of safety results than Phase2, particularly for steep slopes β ≥ 30°. The results are presented in form of stability charts which are validated with a case from a previous study. Notably, the contribution of apparent cohesion to unsaturated shear strength is most pronounced when varying the water table. An examination of the slope failure mechanism reveals that the toe failure mechanism is the dominant failure mechanism. The depth of the failure surface is most sensitive to changes in the slope angle, cohesion and water table position. The influence of the air-entry value on the depth of the failure surface is contingent upon the location of the water table.

Applying Multi-Objective Planning in Low-Carbon Product Design

Tsai Chi Kuo,Hsiao Min Chen,Chia Yi Liu,Jui-Che Tu,Tzu-Chang Yeh 한국정밀공학회 2014 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.

In low-carbon product design, product environment, as well as economic and manufacturing capabilities, should be considered simultaneously. The purpose of this paper is to improve the product carbon footprint calculation efficiency. This study not only considers cost, supplier manufacturing capacity, and transport modes of product components from the viewpoint of low-carbon product design, but it also provides information on product GHG values, design phase cost, as well as the product decisions made by enterprises. In this way, enterprise objectives about carbon footprints and product cost can be met. Based on the product life cycle and product category specifications, this study, following the actual industry process flow, collects and calculates data on GHG emissions of components within the product life cycle, cost and supplier production capacity. The aim is to determine the operational parameters and constraint equations. Multi-objective planning is used to establish a low carbon optimal evaluation model. By reviewing carbon emissions in each phase, the study further determines whether or not to modify product structure and consumption in order to improve the efficiency of product carbon footprint calculation, reduce R&D cost, and help enterprises design low-carbon products. Finally, the findings are used for a case analysis.
