An Automatic Model Building for Screening Functional Foods with GP

Health and disease are one of the most important issues for us. Especially, cancer si the most serious problem in recent decades. Some researchers focus on functional foods that have good effect for human body to prevent cancer. However, there are various kinds of foods in the world, and to develop a high-throughput screening method is anticipated. In this paper, we propose a method to estimate physiological activity of foods from potein expression levels by Genetic Porgramming when the constituent of foods is given to cells. Case studies show that our method improved accuracy to estimate anti-angiogenic activity than that by multidimensional regression analysis.
Surface modification of resin substrate by UV treatment for printed circuit board

In recent years, with the miniaturization of electric devices, the demand for flexible printed circuits (FPC) using polyimide has increased, because of its excellent heat resistance and size stability. Polyimide also has good flexibility and surface smoothness. However, polyimide has a tendency of having high moisture absorption as well as high gas permeability. On the other hand, Cyclo Olefin Polymer (COP) has low moisture absorption, excellent size stability and excellent high frequency electrical properties. Therefore, the COP is attractive as a substrate of FPC. However, it is difficult to form metal film using electroless plating on the COP by conventional processes. We confirmed that a copper film can be formed with high adhesion strength while maintaining a smooth resin surface using surface modification by the UV irradiation. Surface modification by UV irradiation was effective to achieve good adhesion (about 1.0 kN/m) between the COP resin and the deposited metal without roughing the COP surface. An interface electric conductivity of the printed circuit on COP produce by this method indicated a value of 80% approximately until 30 ㎓ area.
Dynamical Intersecting Brane Solutions

We present dynamical intersecting brane solutions in higher-dimensional gravitational theory coupled to the dilaton field and several forms. Assuming the forms of the metric, the form fields, and the dilaton field, we can give the dynamical intersecting brane solutions. The dynamical solutions can always be obtained by replacing the constant modulus h0 in the warp factor for supersymmetric solutions by a linear function h0(t) of the time coordinates t.

With society becoming more advanced and complex, the required management engineering makes essential the development of human resources that can propose solutions for problems of new phenomena from a different perspective. As an example of such phenomena, we note a consumer electronics ‘Eco-point’ system campaign in this study. To mitigate global warming, revitalize the economy, and encourage the adoption of terrestrial digital compatible TVs, the consumer electronics Eco-point system campaign was implemented in May 2009 in Japan. In this study, we note a model which is constant term with exponential curve with notion of the growth phenomenon (Nakagiri and Kurita, Journal of the Operations Research Society of Japan, 2002). In our study, we call this model the ‘differential equation model of the growth phenomenon.’ This model represents a phenomenon with a hierarchical structure for capturing the properties of n species. In this study, we propose a new model which can represent not only the impact of largescale campaigns but also seasonal factors. Accordingly, we understand the phenomenon of fluctuation of sales of some products caused by large-scale campaigns and predict the fluctuation of sales. The final goal of this study is to develop human resources that can propose provision and solution for pre-consumption and reactionary decline in demand by understanding the impact of large-scale campaigns. As the first step of this goal, our objective is to propose a new regression method with different conventional perspective that can describe the fluctuation of sales caused by large-scale campaigns and show the possibility of new management engineering education.

Parameter Identification of Elastic Multilayered System in Consideration of Measurement Accuracy

A method to estimate layer moduli of an elastic multi-layer system from impulsive force on the surface of the system and the corresponding surface deflections is presented. Large degrees of freedom required to describe the system by FEM are drastically reduced by employing Ritz vectors. Scaling of a normal matrix is introduced to decrease a condition number of the matrix. The normal equation is solved by singular value decomposition considering a possible reduction of the normal matrix based on the criterion that reflects the accuracy of the measurement data and the precision of the floating-point arithmetic being used.
β-FeSi<sub>2</sub>의 열전변환특성에 미치는 분말산화의 영향

For the purpose of making clear the role of oxygen in the thermoelectric properties of FeSi$_2$, thermoelectric measurements and spectroscopic characterization were conducted for the oxidized specimens fabricated from ($\alpha$+$\varepsilon$)-phases and/or $\beta$-phase. Addition of oxygen to FeSi$_2$ prevented both densification during sintering and transformation from metallic phases to semiconducting phase during annealing treatment. In an specimens, electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity decreased with oxidation time. The Seebeck coefficient was positive and small for pure FeSi$_2$. And/or the oxidized specimens fabricated from ($\alpha$+$\varepsilon$)-phases. However, it was negative and showed a maximum peak at about 500 K for the oxidized FeSi$_2$ fabricated from $\beta$-phase. The value of maximum peak increased with oxidation time. $\beta$-FeSi$_2$의 열전물성에 있어서 산소의 역할을 규명하기 위해서, 고온상 ($\alpha$+$\varepsilon$)과 저온상 ($\beta$)-FeSi$_2$ 시료에 대해 산화처리에 따른 열전물성 측정 및 분석실험을 행하였다. 산화에 의해 소결밀도가 감소하였으며, 반도체상으로의 전이도 방해되었다. 모든 시료에서 도전율과 열전도율은 산화처리시간과 함께 감소하였다. 순수한 FeSi$_2$ 및 고온상 ($\alpha$+$\varepsilon$)을 산화처리한 시료 Seebeck 계수는 작은 양의 값을 나타낸 반면에, 저온상 ($\beta$)을 산화처리한 FeSi$_2$ 는 음의 값을 나타내었으며 약 500K 부근에서 최대값을 나타내었다. 또 산화시간과 함께 최대값도 증가하였다.
