Since ports, harbors, and coastal structures are affected by waves in any way, waves have a great effect on determining the stability of coastal structures. Especially, regardless of ship's size, the efficiency of shipping and discharging depends on harbor tranquility. Therefore in this study, the wave action is a considered to be a major factor to design coastal structure. So experiments were performed with various models of quay wall by examining their hydraulic characteristics for reflection rates and wave run-up. The final purpose of this study is to design various domestic unique models of quay wall which have the function of wave dissipation to improve cargo handling efficiency. The reflection rates and ship motions of three degrees of freedom-3DOF(sway, heave, roll) are also calculated by boundary element method (BEM). Calculated reflection rates from the BEM are compared with the results from the hydraulic model experiment. Although the values of numerical analysis generally exceed the values of hydraulic experiment, they showed the similar trend.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Multilayer MoOx/Ag/MoOx (DMD) films are found to be transparent conducting electrodes for use in extremely stable and highly bendable flexible perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The optical transparency and electric properties of DMD and its role as a top electrode of PSCs were studied by changing the thickness of the MoOx layer. Although the MoOx thickness was shown to have a negligible effect on the sheet resistance of DMD, the transmittance of visible light, selective carrier transport capability, and long-term stability of a device considerably depend on this factor. The sandwich structure of a 20-nm-thick MoOx, 7-nm-thick Ag, and 20-nm-thick MoOx exhibits a high transmittance and large photon–electron conversion rate of PSCs. In addition, PSCs using the DMD top electrode maintain 92% of their initial current density after 24 h of continuous operation owing to a UV light cut-off of the top illumination. Moreover, the overall structure of DMD blocks the diffusion of water and oxygen molecules from real environmental conditions. At the same time, the underlying/upper MoOx layer retards the degradation through a chemical reaction between Ag and the halide ions inside the cells, as well as foreign ions from outside the polluted atmosphere. When DMD is applied to flexible PSCs on Ti foil, the PCE reaches 14.5%, and mechanical integrity of the PSCs is maintained at a bending radius of 4 mm.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> MoOx/Ag/MoOx multilayer is used as a top electrode of perovskite solar cells. </LI> <LI> The multilayer electrode has multiple functions in real operation environment. </LI> <LI> 92% of the initial current density is maintained after 24 h continuous operation. </LI> <LI> The efficiency of flexible solar cells using MoOx/Ag/MoOx reaches 14.5%. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Background: This retrospective study was aimed to investigate the efficacy of prophylactic agents in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients receiving TACE and compare the difference between lamivudine and entecavir. Materials and Methods: A consecutive series of 203 HBV-related HCC patients receiving TACE were analyzed including 91 patients given prophylactic agents. Virologic events, defined as an increase in serum HBV DNA level to more than 1 log10 IU/ml higher than the nadir level, hepatitis flares due to HBV reactivation and progression free survival (PFS) were the main endpoints. Results: Some 48 (69.6%) reached virologic response. Prophylaxis significantly reduced virologic events (8.8% vs 58.0%, p=0.000) and hepatitis flares (1.1% vs 13.4%, p=0.001). Patients presenting undetectable HBV DNA levels displayed a significantly improved PFS as compared to those who never achieved undetectable HBV DNA. Prophylaxis and e-antigen positivity were the only significant variables associated with virologic events. In addition, prophylaxis was the only independent protective factor for hepatitis flares. Liver cirrhosis, more cycles of TACE, HBV DNA negativity, a lower Cancer of the Liver Italian Program score, non-metastasis and no hepatitis flares were protective factors for PFS. Prophylactic lamivudine demonstrated similar efficacy as entecavir. Conclusions: Prophylactic agents are efficacious for prevention of HBV reactivation in HCC patients receiving TACE. Achievement of undetectable HBV DNA levels displayed a significant capability in improving PFS. Moreover, persistent tumor residual lesions, positive HBV DNA and hepatitis B flares might be causes of tumor progression in these patients.

Cyclin L2 is a novel member of the cyclin family, recently implicated in the regulation of cell cycle progression and/or transcriptional regulation. The present study was undertaken to investigate the effects of overexpression on tumor cell growth and chemosensitivity in human gastric cells in vitro. Cyclin L2 was transfected into human gastric cancer cell line BCG823 and expressed with a mammalian expression vector pcDNA3.1. The effects and mechanisms of cyclin L2 on cell growth, cell cycling and apoptosis were studied. Compared to control vectors, overexpression of cyclin L2 inhibited the growth of BCG823 cells and enhance their chemosensitivity to fluorouracil, docetaxel and cisplatin. The anti-proliferative effects of cyclin L2 could be due to G0/G1 arrest and apoptosis. Cyclin L2 induced G0/G1 arrest and apoptosis involved upregulation of caspase-3 and down regulation Bcl-2 and survivin. The results indicated that overexpression of cyclin L2 protein may promote efficient growth inhibition and enhance chemosensitivity to chemotherapeutic agents in human gastric cancer cells by inducing G0/G1 cell cycle arrest and apoptosis.

A fast gamma-ray dose rate assessment method for complex geometries based on stylized modelreconstruction and point-kernel method is proposed in this paper. The complex three-dimensional (3D)geometries are imported as a 3DS format file from 3dsMax software with material and radiometric attributes. Based on 3D stylized model reconstruction of solid mesh, the 3D-geometrical solids are automaticallyconverted into stylized models. In point-kernel calculation, the stylized source models aredivided into point kernels and the mean free paths (mfp) are calculated by the intersections betweenshield stylized models and tracing ray. Compared with MCNP, the proposed method can implementcomplex 3D geometries visually, and the dose rate calculation is accurate and fast.

Background and Aims: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation was reported to be induced by transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) in HBV-related hepatocellular carcinonma (HCC) patients with a high incidence. The effective strategy to reduce hepatitis flares due to HBV reactivation in this specific group of patients was limited to lamivudine. This retrospective study was aimed to investigate the efficacy of prophylactic entecavir in HCC patients receiving TACE. Methods: A consecutive series of 191 HBV-related HCC patients receiving TACE were analyzed including 44 patients received prophylactic entecavir. Virologic events, defined as an increase in serum HBV DNA level to more than 1 log10 copies/ml higher than nadir the level, and hepatitis flares due to HBV reactivation were the main endpoints. Results: Patients with or without prophylactic were similar in host factors and the majorities of characteristics regarding to tumor factors, HBV status, liver function and LMR. Notably, cycles of TACE were parallel between the groups. Ten (22.7%) patients receiving prophylactic entecavir reached virologic response. The patients receiving prophylactic entecavir presented significantly reduced virologic events (6.8% vs 54.4%, p=0.000) and hepatitis flares due to HBV reactivation (0.0% vs 11.6%, p=0.039) compared with patients without prophylaxis. Kaplan-Meier analysis illustrated that the patients in the entecavir group presented significantly improved virologic events free survival (p=0.000) and hepatitis flare free survival (p=0.017). Female and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status 2 was the only significant predictors for virological events in patients without prophylactic antiviral. Rescue antiviral therapy did not reduce the incidence of hepatitis flares due to HBV reactivation. Conclusion: Prophylactic entecavir presented promising efficacy in HBV-related cancer patients receiving TACE. Lower performance status and female gender might be the predictors for HBV reactivation in these patients.
State Feedback Control Promotes Transition Efficiency of Bag Filters
Kun Li,Yukai Li,Rui Cong,Zheng Xu,Lei Zhang,Libing Liu,Song Zhang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2024 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.22 No.1
How to improve the efficiency of bag filters has attracted a considerable amount of attention. However, effective control of the transition stage, which plays an important role in reducing the time to reach a new steady state, still lacks research. Here, we utilize a nominal linear system with a time delay to characterize the transition stage. We introduce two state feedback mechanisms, namely linear matrix inequality based state-feedback robust controller and parameter-tuning controller based on nonlinear matrix inequality, into control process. Results of both genetic algorithms simulations and closed-loop control experiments show that these controllers dramatically shorten the transition stage compared to open-loop control. Furthermore, we find that parameter-tuning controller outperforms linear matrix inequality based state-feedback robust controller in terms of both stable time and steady error. These results are robust to different experimental settings. From industrial economic perspective, this technology could help to conserve energy and protect environment.
