An Intelligent Nano-positioning Control System Driven by an Ultrasonic Motor

Kuang-Chao Fan,Zi-Fa Lai 한국정밀공학회 2008 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.9 No.3

This paper presents a linear positioning system and its control algorithm design with nano accuracy/resolution. The basic linear stage structure is driven by an ultrasonic motor and its displacement feedback is detected by a LDGI(Laser Diffraction Grating Interferometer), which can achieve nanometer resolution. Due to the friction driving property of the ultrasonic motor, the driving situation differs in various ranges along the travel. Experiments have been carried out in order to observe and realize the phenomena of the three main driving modes: AC mode (for ㎜ motion), Gate mode (for ㎛ motion), and DC mode (for ㎚ motion). A proposed FCMAC(Fuzzy Cerebella Model Articulation Controller) control algorithm is implemented for manipulating and predicting the velocity variation during the motion of each mode respectively. The PCbased integral positioning system is built up with a NI DAQ Device by a BCB (Borland C?? Builder) program to accomplish the purpose of an intelligent nano-positioning control.

Development of a High Precision Coplanar Stage by using Miniature Michelson Interferometer

Kuang-Chao Fan,Hao Zhou,Ruijun Li 한국정밀공학회 2014 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.

The motion control of a high precision coplanar XY-stage is very important to the performance of the nano-positioning control system. A prototype micro-coordinate measuring machine (Micro-CMM) has been developed by the authors’ group. This system is constructedby a high precision coplanar stage that conforms to Abbe principle, a Z-ram equipped with a touch scan probe and mounted on apagoda bridge. In this paper, an improved coplanar stage is presented. The miniature laser interferometer based on Michelsonprinciple is developed for precise displacement feedback in each axis and the software for the coplanar stage based on BPNN (BackPropagation Neural Network) in association with the PID control has been developed. Experiment results show that, calibrated bya commercial laser interferometer, the positioning accuracy is proved within 20 nm with a standard deviation less than 15 nm forthe travel length of 20 mm.

Acid-free epoxidation of soybean oil with hydrogen peroxide to epoxidized soybean oil over titanium silicalite-1 zeolite supported cadmium catalysts

        Lei Cai,Chao CHEN,Wenjun Wang,Xiu Gao,Xiaoyan Kuang,Yan Jiang,Liang Li,Guoqiang Wu 한국공업화학회 2020 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.91 No.-

Titanium silicalite-1 (TS-1) zeolite was successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method in the presenceof the tetrapropylammonium hydroxide (TPAOH) template, and a series of TS-1 supported cadmium withdifferent Cd loading (xCd/TS-1) catalysts were carefully prepared to produce epoxidized soybean oil(ESO) through the acid-free catalytic epoxidation of soybean oil (SO) with H2O2. These catalysts were fullycharacterized using various modern techniques and further evaluated systematically in this epoxidationreaction to understand the relationship between catalytic activity and structure of active components. The results show that the highly dispersed Cd species are introduced on the TS-1 support withoutaffecting the coordination environment of tetrahedral Ti (framework Ti). Furthermore, the Cd species arecoordinated with tetrahedral Ti species via O atom resulting in the weakness of the Ti–O bonds and facileattack of the Ti–O bonds by alcohol and H2O2, which can easily form thefive-membered intermediate andpromote the SO epoxidation process. Furthermore, the deactivation and regeneration behaviors of 2%Cd/TS-1 catalyst in SO epoxidation were also investigated, which reveal that the catalyst deactivation of cokedeposition is due to the strong adsorption of the catalysts and SO molecules. But the spent 2%Cd/TS-1 canbe completely regenerated by calcination method.

Red Bean Extract Inhibits Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Inflammation and H2O2-Induced Oxidative Stress in RAW 264.7 Macrophages

        Wen-Wan Chao,Yun-Chin Chung,I-Ping Shih,Hsun-Yen Wang,Su-Tze Chou,Cheng-Kuang Hsu 한국식품영양과학회 2015 Journal of medicinal food Vol.18 No.7

Red bean (Phaseolus radiatus L. var. Aurea) is a leguminous seed and mainly used as one of the popular ingredients in oriental desserts. The objective of this study was to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of 50 g/kg ethanolic extract of red bean (RBE) by measuring lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced expressions of nitric oxide (NO), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in RAW 264.7 macrophages. On the other hand, the antioxidant activity of RBE was determined by thiobarbituric acid reactive substances method and comet assay using H2O2-induced macrophages. The results showed that RBE at the concentrations of 50–200 μg/mL can significantly suppress the inflammatory responses in LPS-stimulated macrophages through the reduction of cellular NO and downregulation of the gene expressions of iNOS, COX-2, TNF-α, and IL-6 in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, RBE can diminish H2O2-induced oxidative damage in RAW 264.7 macrophage. Phenolic compounds and cyanidin-3-Oglucoside from BRE may have efficacy as overall in vitro anti-inflammatory and antioxidant agents. Red bean exerts an antiinflammatory response and has potential as a health-promoting ingredient.

      • Simulation of Poultry House Ventilation using Computational Fluid Dynamics

        ( Chih-hsiang Hsu ),( Sumingchen ),( Kuang-wen Hsieh ),( Chao-yin Tsai ),( Rou-yan Peng ),( Jin-ming Tsai ) 한국농업기계학회 2018 한국농업기계학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.23 No.1

Poultry output value in Taiwan takes a large proportion of whole livestock production. However, in 2014, it was suffered from a serious bird flu invasion in Taiwan, culling a large number of poultries. Take geese as an example, almost 90% of the geese were culled in 2014. As a result, it caused serious losses to livestock industry. In order to prevent outbreak of bird flu, the government has stipulated that poultry houses must be rebuilt as non-open poultry houses and rehabilitated. Therefore, the development of the design in closed poultry houses is important. In this study, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was used to simulate a 30 m * 8.5 m * 3.6 m closed poultry house. There are two suction fans used for longitudinal ventilation. Through the different circulation fan setups to evaluate for the growth conditions of poultry and improve the ventilation of closed poultry houses, and reduce the possibility of invasion of pathogenic sources at the same time. The results showed when a circulation fan was not placed, there was a phenomenon of non-uniform airflow distribution within 6 m near water-cooled wall. When a circulation fan was placed 3 m away from the water-cooled wall, some parts of the airflow concentrated near the fan and caused non-uniform airflow distribution within 9 m near the water-cooled wall, which may be unsuitable for poultries living. The study showed that simulation of flow field facilitates designs of non-open poultry houses.

      • Fragmentation contributions to hadroproduction of promptJ/ψ,χcJ, andψ(2S)states

        Bodwin, Geoffrey T.,Chao, Kuang-Ta,Chung, Hee Sok,Kim, U-Rae,Lee, Jungil,Ma, Yan-Qing American Physical Society 2016 Physical Review D Vol.93 No.3

<P>We compute fragmentation corrections to hadroproduction of the quarkonium states J/psi,chi(cJ), and psi(2S) at leading power in m(c)(2)/p(T)(2), where m(c) is the charm-quark mass and p(T) is the quarkonium transverse momentum. The computation is carried out in the framework of nonrelativistic QCD. We include corrections to the parton-production cross sections through next-to-leading order in the strong coupling alpha(s) and corrections to the fragmentation functions through second order in alpha(s). We also sum leading logarithms of p(T)(2)/m(c)(2) to all orders in perturbation theory. We find that, when we combine these leading-power fragmentation corrections with fixed-order calculations through next-to-leading order in alpha(s), we are able to obtain good fits for p(T) >= 10 GeV to hadroproduction cross sections that were measured at the Tevatron and the LHC. Using values for the nonperturbative long-distance matrix elements that we extract from the cross-section fits, we make predictions for the polarizations of the quarkonium states. We obtain good agreement with measurements of the polarizations, with the exception of the CDF Run II measurement of the prompt J/psi polarization, for which the agreement is only fair. In the predictions for the prompt-J/psi cross sections and polarizations, we take into account feeddown from the chi(cJ) and psi(2S) states.</P>

      • Development of a Sorting System for Inspection of Mushroom Mycelium Growth

        ( Vivian Liao ),( Suming Chen ),( Chao-yin Tsai ),( Kuang-wen Hsieh ),( Kuo-chih Tung ) 한국농업기계학회 2018 한국농업기계학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.23 No.1

Mushroom cultivation is one of the important industries in Taiwan's agriculture. In current mushroom cultivation process, which includes spawn production, substrate preparation & bottling, inoculation, spawning, scratching, fruiting, harvest and packing, required a large amount of labor. In this research, the improvement in fault inspection for spawn level and bacterial infection before scratching process was conducted. The aim of this research is to establish an inspection system using machine vision, pneumatic mechanism and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). First, an experiment-used small lighting chamber was made to study the image processing method, which can get the development (expansion) of self-made simulated samples from its side view image. The accuracy to recognize the fault in self-made simulated samples is up to 99.9%. In real cultivation bottle samples fault inspection, it spent for about 10 seconds and can get well recognition. A prototype of sorting system has also been established to conduct the inspecting process and remove bottles with fault conditions of spawn level and bacterial infection.

      • Study on a Wireless Environmental Monitoring System for Duck Incubator

        ( Rou-yan Peng ),( Suming Chen ),( Kuang-wen Hsieh ),( Chao-yin Tsai ),( Chih-hsiang Hsu ),( Jin-ming Tsai ) 한국농업기계학회 2018 한국농업기계학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.23 No.1

Taiwan's domestic development of incubators are in simple structure, at low prices, and generally used by the industry. However, high number of regional dead eggs, the inability to understand the environmental conditions of incubator and other issues occurred frequently, resulting in operation and production difficulties. This research developed a wireless environmental monitoring system to collect data and upload to the cloud. A variety of environmental sensors and Raspberry Pi 3 were used in the establishment of wireless sensing module and environmental information detection platform. The environmental information was displayed in real-time and uploaded to the cloud. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was also used to simulate the internal flow field inside the incubator to determine the environmental control features, and control heating and humidification equipment with a PID controller. In this study, the establishment of wireless environmental monitoring system was completed. The wireless sensing module and the environment information detection platform have also been developed and tested. The stability of wireless sensing module was 98.5%, and the CFD simulation error was under 20%, which was low enough to predict the actual field temperature changes, and can be applied to the regulation of the incubator environment.
