Gastrokine 1 inhibits gastrin-induced cell proliferation

<P>Gastrokine 1 (GKN1) acts as a gastric tumor suppressor. Here, we investigated whether GKN1 contributes to the maintenance of gastric mucosal homeostasis by regulating gastrin-induced gastric epithelial cell growth. We assessed the effects of gastrin and GKN1 on cell proliferation in stable AGS(GKN1) and MKN1(GKN1) gastric cancer cell lines and HFE-145 nonneoplastic epithelial cells. Cell viability and proliferation were analyzed by MTT and BrdU incorporation assays, respectively. Cell cycle and expression of growth factor receptors were examined by flow cytometry and Western blot analyses. Gastrin treatment stimulated a significant time-dependent increase in cell viability and proliferation in AGS(mock) and MKN1(mock), but not in HFE-145, AGS(GKN1), and MKN1(GKN1), cells, which stably expressed GKN1. Additionally, gastrin markedly increased the S-phase cell population, whereas GKN1 significantly inhibited the effect of gastrin by regulating the expression of G(1)/S cell-cycle regulators. Furthermore, gastrin induced activation of the NF-kB and beta-catenin signaling pathways and increased the expression of CCKBR, EGFR, and c-Met in AGS and MKN1 cells. However, GKN1 completely suppressed these effects of gastrin via downregulation of gastrin/CCKBR/growth factor receptor expression. Moreover, GKN1 reduced gastrin and CCKBR mRNA expression in AGS and MKN1 cells, and there was an inverse correlation between GKN1 and gastrin, as well as between GKN1 and CCKBR mRNA expression in noncancerous gastric mucosae. These data suggest that GKN1 may contribute to the maintenance of gastric epithelial homeostasis and inhibit gastric carcinogenesis by downregulating the gastrin-CCKBR signaling pathway.</P>

Ionic EAP actuators are particularly attractive owing to the Low driving voltages (<3 V) as compared to those of electronic EAP actuators (usually kilovolts). This paper presents a brief overview of the recent progress in a range of EAP actuators by focusing on Low voltage operation, in addition to the challenges and future strategies for their wide applicability in artificial muscles and various innovative soft robot technologies.</P>

Recently, the AGV system has been studied actively according to the progress of FMS in the industry, and it is a unit with the self-power to transport the materials between stations without the particular control by an operator. It is widely known that the AGV system is effective to increase the utility of manufacturing line and cut down personnel expenses. This System has several sensors to recognize the external state and it is designed to travel between stations without an external assistance. The genera) methods of obstacle detection for an AGV are to use kinds of sensors like an ultra-sonic, electromagnetic and laser sensor. But, these sensors have simple information of obstacles. Therefore, it is needed to fast stereo vision system by two CCD cameras for various information of obstacle such as distance, color and size. For the fast stereo vision, the developing high-speed template matching by color and shape of obstacle was used. This information to recognize an obstacles was studied by the neural network.

현대 사회에서 쓰레기 처리는 여러 사회 문제를 일으키고 있다. 넘쳐나는 쓰레기는 미관을 해치고 악취를 발생시킨다. 본 논문은 쓰레기 배출량이 쓰레기통의 수용 용량을 넘는 경우 웹과 앱을 통해 청소 관리자에게 알림을 제공하는 등의 편리한 쓰레기통 관리 시스템을 제안한다. 제공하는 앱과 웹은 데이터베이스와 아두이노기반의 IoT 기술을 활용하여 쓰레기통 자동 개폐, 쓰레기 압축, 포화 용량 표시 등의 다양한 기능을 제공한다. 앱과 웹을 통하여 수집된 데이터는 추후 환경 관련 프로젝트에서 다방면으로 활용될 수 있다.
