        Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is liver disease characterized by diffuse fatty infilteration and inflammation. NAFLD is closely related with metabolic syndrome such as diabetes, obesity, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension. Definitive diagnosis of NAFLD still requires a liver biopsy. So, it is difficult to diagnosis of NAFLD in the health screen examinees. The aim of this was to assess the association fatty liver diagnosed by ultrasonography and components and parameters of metabolic syndrome in the non-alcoholic health screen examinees. Methods: A total of 3,829 health screen examinees (1,985 men, 1,844 women) who participated in health screening at health promotion center in Kosin Medical Center from March, 1997 to December, 2003 were enrolled in this study. All participants was no evidence of viral hepatitis and alcohol abuse. The examinees were divided two group, fatty liver and nonfatty liver group and the clinical, biochemical and metabolic parameters analyzed by multiple regression and logistic methods. Results: Almost of all variables (age, weight, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), total cholesterol, triglyceride, fasting blood glucose, gamma glutamyltransferase (γGTP) except high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol were significantly high in the fatty liver group than nonfatty liver group (p,0.05). There was a significant positive correlation between WC and weight, blood pressure, BMI, total cholesterol, triglyceride (p<0.01). The age adjusted odds ratio between WC and fatty liver was 1.614 in men and 2.906 in women (p<0.01). As subjects were grouped according to their number of components metabolic syndrome, the development of fatty liver was increased according to the numbers of components of metabolic syndrome (p<0.05). γGTP was a significant positive correlation with WC, weight, blood pressure, BMI, total cholesterol, triglyceride (p<0.01). When subjects were grouped according to the γGTP level, group Ⅰ (≤20 U/L) and group Ⅱ (20 U/L~40 U/L) and group Ⅲ (>40 U/L). Significant differences was notice in almost of all variables (weight, blood pressure, BMI, WC, total cholesterol, triglyceride, fasting blood glucose) among each group (p<0.000). Conclusion: These results suggested that fatty liver in non alcoholic health examinees is closely associated with metabolic syndrome and number of components of metabolic syndrome. Among the metabolic parameters, the author noticed that γGTP is not a marker of alcohol induced liver disease but may also a independent and reliable marker of metabolic syndrome.

      • 고주파 공진형 인버터식 X선발생장치의 관전압 불균형 개선

        In order to radiate X-ray, the low ripple stabilized high voltage DC over the range of 40kV to 150kV is directly inflicted to X-ray tube. The energy characteristics of the radiated X-ray depend on the pulsating waveforms of the DC voltage supplied X -ray tube. In general, the low ripple voltage waveforms with fast rising times are required to increase with the dosage per unit time lest the exposure time should be longer in order that the motion artifacts of an object may be eliminated in actual. The rotating anode and the cathode of the metal-envelope X-ray tube are incorporated into an envelope made of metal, for instance stainless steel and copper, instead of hard glass. This metal envelope is able to collect the secondary electrons which causes harmful influence to thequality of the diagnostic images. Furthermore, the metal-envelope X-ray tube has mechanically higher strength than glass-envelope type, and so it suits for high power X-ray system. For those benefits, this type of X-ray tube is mainly used to obtain the high quality diagnostic images in X-ray angiography and X-ray computed tomography. The electrons collected at th envelope generate the eletric current flow form the ground to the cathode and occasionally the unmatched impedance of the anode side and the cathode side of the X-ray tube. The unmatched impedance causes the remarkable imblacne of the output voltage of the series resonant inverter-fed converter. In this paper, the newly-developed converter to take the balance of the output voltage versus the ground are also presented in detail. This converter consists of the two independent series resonant circuit using the two capacitance and the two parimary winding high-voltage transformer.

      • 상피종양의 keratin 생성능에 대한 전자현미경적 연구

        Keratins are characteristically present in all keratinizing and nonkeratinizing epithelial cells and their neoplasms. They consist of at least 19 different polypeptides ranging from 40 to 69 kilodaltons, which are developmentally related to specific epithelial cell types. Keratins of high and intermediate molecular weights are readily demonstrated in squamous cell carcinomas, which are characteristically rich in tonofilaments and tonofilament-desmosome complexes. Keratins of low molecular weights are expressed in adenocarcinoma including renal cell carinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, small cell carcinoma, and carcinoid tumor. These tumors do not reveal any tonofilaments and sacrcely show discrete filaments on electron microscopy. An immunoperoxidase technique employing antibody to keratin was used to study distribution and staining pattern of keratin filaments in benign and malignant epithelial tumors (20 squamous cell carcinomas, 20 gastric adenocarcinomas, 20 transitional cell carcinomas and 15 non-neoplastic epithelia). These immunohistochemical results were compared with ultrastructural features of neoplastic diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma and transitional cell carcinoma, and estimation of degree of differentiation. The results are as follows : 1. The squamous epithelium, glandular epithelium and transitional epithelium disclosed the positive reaction for keratin. 2. Squamous cell carcinoma and transitional cell carcinoma exhibited positive reaction for keratin. 3. Gastric adenocarcinoma showed uniformly negative or weakly positive reaction for keratin. 4. On electron microscopy, heavy bundles of tonofilaments and desmosomes were more frequently encountered in well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, In poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, a few tonofibrils and desmosome were noted. 5. In the adenocarcinomas, the intermediate filaments were arranged randomly as nonaggregated, short filaments spread throughout the cytoplasm, although occasionally they formed a perinuclear whorl. These filaments did not become aggregated to form tonofilaments. 6. On the immunogold labeling for keratin of low molecular weight areas in gastric adenocinoma, in tense labeling of intermediate filaments for keratin was noted. From the above result, ultrastructural and immunohistochemical study on malignant epithelial cell were useful in differential diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma and transitional cell carcinoma, and estimation of degree of differentiation. It was also proved that immunogold labeling technique was especially valuable for diagnosis of vague case which showed negative or weakly positive reaction in immunohistochemical stain.

      • 전자선 증착장치 및 ITO 박막의 제작과 그 특성에 관한 연구

        태양 전지의 제작시 투명 전극막으로 쓰이는 ITO 박막을 제조하기 위하여 cathode 접지 방식의 전자총을 가진 정전 편향 집속형의 전자선 증착 장치를 제작하였다. 가속전압이 0∼15kV, 필라멘트 전류가 0∼28A, 두 전극판 사이의 간격이 11mm, anode와 deflector 사이의 간격이 30mm인 최적 실험조건하에서 생성된 전자선 spot의 크기는 길이가 20mm 폭이 1mm였으며, 전자선의 출력은 약 400W였다. 이 전자선 증착 장치를 이용하여 1600℃까지의 증발 온도를 가진 도체와 절연체 등을 쉽게 증착시킬 수 있었으며, 만드어진 ITO 박막은 약 5000Å의 두께에서 10^-1∼10^-2Ω·㎝의 비저항과 95%의 광투과율을 갖는다. An electron beam evaporator with a cathode grounded type electron gun was designed and constructed in order to deposit ITO thin films for photovoltaic applications. The optimum condition was observed with electode spacing of 11mm, 30mm between anode and deflector, a cathode inner diameter of 3mm and an anode inner diameter of 5mm. As the accelerating voltage varies from 0 to 15kV and ghe filament current from 0 to 28 A, the minimum electron beam spot has a 20mm length, and 1mm width and the output power ranges from 0 to 400W under the above optimum conditions. We can deposit materials whose evaporation temperature is over 1600℃ using this evaporator. And as a result ITO thin film showed a low resistivity of 10^-1∼10^-2Ω·㎝ and the transmittance of 95%.

      • LC 공진형 PWM 인버터를 이용한 X선 발생장치의 특성에 관한 연구

        The conventional types of X-ray generators were bulky in physical size and heavy in weight, and the control accuracies of the output voltages were not always satisfactory. The high frequency switching inverter and converter technology on power conversion and control systems have been greatly closed up introducing power semiconductor devices. In this paper, the newly developed converter to take the balance of the output voltage versus the ground are also presented in detail to decreasing the volume and the weight of high voltage transformer and to stabilize ripple. This converter consists of the two independent L-C series resonant circuits using the two capacitances and the two primary windings of high voltage transformer.

      • PWM 인버터를 이용한 단상유도전동기의 보조권선제어

        In this paper, an auxiliary winding driving system of single - phase induction motors is described. Starting time variations are obtained by controlling the auxiliary winding voltage magnitude and phase angle, while the motor's main winding is directly connected to the local utility. A variable auxiliary winding voltage phase angle is shown to yield significant torque control, providing starting and braking torque. The analysis includes the determination of the relationship between the auxiliary winding voltage phase angle and the phase angle difference between the main and auxiliary winding current. The paper proposed for adjusting an auxiliary winding voltage magnitude and phase angle. Experimental results of motor's starting characteristics with using the PWM inverter for auxiliary winding power supply are shown. The drive is tested using a dynamometer to experimentally verify the results of the theory.

      • 초등학교 학생들의 빛에 대한 개념

        This study examined elementary school students' ideas about light. The results are as follows; Most students think light's travel distance is different between in the daytime and the night. It is because that children's ideas are strongly influenced by their egocentric or human-centered view of the world and that children don't have the scientific model which can integrate a various kinds of same conditions. And the students think light's travel distance is different as the type of illuminant. They think that the strong illuminant like the sun travel so far but the dim light from a candle doesn't go too far. So, we must teach that the light keeps traveling until it reaches something regardless of the type and strength of illuminant. I suggest that these misconceptions must be changed into the scientific concept through enough discussion after the activities.
