        MODEL-BASED SENSOR FAULT DIAGNOSIS OF VEHICLE SUSPENSIONS WITH A SUPPORT VECTOR MACHINE

        In this paper, a means of generating residuals based on a quarter-car model and evaluating them using a support vector machine (SVM) is proposed. The proposed model-based residual generator shows very robust performance regardless of unknown road surface conditions. In addition, an SVM classifier without empirically set thresholds is used to evaluate the residuals. The proposed method is expected to reduce the effort required to design fault diagnosis algorithms. While an unknown input observer is used to generate the residual, the relative velocity of the vehicle suspension is obtained additionally. The proposed algorithm is verified using commercial vehicle simulator Carsim with Matlab & Simulink. As a result, the fault diagnosis algorithm proposed in this paper can detect sensor faults that cannot be detected by a limit checking method and can reduce the effort required when designing algorithms.

        A Study on the Emotional Labor Environment and Quality of Life of Sports Instructors at Elementary Schools

        Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the emotional labor environment of sports instructors at elementary schools in Jeonbuk and the quality of life of them to figure out the difficulties faced by the sports instructors in the field in order to present improvement plans. Method: Specifically, the following results were derived from conducting in-depth interviews with sports instruc-tors of Jeonbuk by using a semi-structured questionnaire from November 2020 until December 2020 as the purposeful sampling method. Results: First, most of the elementary school sports instructors were temporary workers for the term of less than one year, and they complained of serious emotional labor in their discussion with school officials and consumers in the processes of contract renewal, opening classes for additional sports activities such as after school classes, and notification of contract renewal. Second, the sports instructor hiring method dependent to the discretion of school officials and the form of employment with a period of employment shorter than one year were leading to the lack of expertise in physical education of sport instructors and the necessity for sport instructors to have a sideline for livelihood. Third, although the role of sports instructor is assisting home room teachers in physical education classes, the roles and work of sports instructors were not clearly identified, and sports instructor were leading actual physical education activities. Fourth, although sports instructors had the status of instructors, they were performing the work of teachers, but there was no study space (desk, computer, chair, etc.), locker room, or resting space for sports instructors and sports instructors were seriously discriminated in terms of welfare. Conclusion: In particular, during physical education classes at nearby schools to which they were dispatched once or twice a week, sports instructors were taking a rest in their private car between classes.

        Restoration of Face-Centered Cubic Metals Subjected to Kinetic Spraying

        Deformation mode and restoration of face-centered cubic (FCC) metal (Al, Ni, and Cu) particles subjected to kinetic spraying (KS) were investigated. The FCC metal particles were accelerated to supersonic velocity by high pressure process gas, and collided with substrates or previously deposited coating layer. The high velocity impact of in-flight particles and their successive deposition leads to severe plastic deformation at ultra-high strain rate and the dissipation of heat energy from the plasticity. Accordingly, highly strained interface undergoes restoration to stabilize strained area during KS. Although Al, Ni, and Cu have equivalent slip systems {111} <110>, the different physical and metallurgical properties of the FCC metals differentiate the deformation mode and lead to variations in static recovery and recrystallization rates. The deformation and restoration behavior of KS FCC metals are discussed, taking into account the physical and metallurgical factors such as stacking fault energy, dislocation mobility, diffusivity, and melting point.

        Estimation Models for Soil Water Content and Rainfall in Andong

        Main objective of this study was to develop the models to estimate soil water content (WTR) and rainfall during four years in Andong with verification. Trigonometric function model (TFM), Fourier function model (FFM) and exponential function model (EFM) for soil water content (WTR) were developed. Gaussian function model (GFM) and sigmoid function model (SFM) for rainfall were developed. Amplitude of mean WTR from 10 cm to 50 cm was 12.64%. Range of periodicity according to period and soil depth was 660 days and 427 days, respectively. The deeper soil depth the shorter in WTR periodicity. Slope of accumulated rainfall change was the highest in 2009, the critical point was the earliest in 2011. Average RMSE of TFM, FFM, EFM, GFM and SFM was 1.352%, 1.356%, 2.117%, 21.37 mm and 27.09 mm, respectively, and average NSE was 0.696, 0.694, 0.857, 0.937 and 0.996, respectively. Four models (TFM, EFM, GFM and SFM) were deemed 「very appropriate」 and FFM was judged to be 「appropriate」 based on the criteria of error analysis.

      • Digital Background Self-calibration for High Resolution Analog to Digital Converters

        A new self-calibration scheme of a high resolution ADC compensating offset and non-linearity errors is presented. The scheme uses redundant bits of a high resolution ADC for calibrating main characteristic parameters such as offset and non?linearity. The proposed self-calibration circuitry consists of a small adder, a shifter, a subtractor and memory. The experimental results using MATLAB verify the performance of the methodology.

        Serial Changes of Heat Shock Protein 70 and Interleukin-8 in Burn Blister Fluid

        Background: It has been reported that heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) and interleukin-8 (IL-8) play an important role in cells during the wound healing process. However, there has been no report on the effect of HSP70 and IL-8 on the blisters of burn patients. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the serial quantitative changes of HSP70 and IL-8 in burn blisters. Methods: Twenty-five burn patients were included, for a total of 36 cases: twenty cases on the first day, six cases on the sec-ond, five cases on the third, three cases on the fourth, and two cases on the fifth. A correlation analysis was performed to de-termine the relationship between the concentration of HSP70 and IL-8 and the length of the treatment period. Results: The HSP70 concentration was the highest on the first day, after which it decreased down to near zero. Most HSP70 was generated during the first 12 hours after the burn accident. There was no correlation between the concen-tration of HSP70 on the first day and the length of the treat-ment period. No measurable concentration of IL-8 was de-tected before 5 hours, but the concentration started to in-crease after 11 hours. The peak value was measured on the fourth day. Conclusion: While HSP70 increased in the first few hours and decreased afterwards, IL-8 was produced after 11 hours and increased afterward in burn blister fluid. These findings provide new evidence on serial changes of in-flammatory mediators in burn blister fluid. (Ann Dermatol 29(2) 194∼199, 2017)

      • A Question for Legitimating PE as a Subject in School and Teacher Education: What Knowledge of PE is Valid in the Perspective of Other Subjects?

        Purpose: Although many studies have found that Physical Education (PE) is a popular subject there is an on-going discussion about its aim and what legitimizes it as a school subject. What knowledge appears as legitimate within the subject of PE is, however, hard to identify, which creates controversies within the field. Therefore the aim of this paper is to contribute in discussing by increasing the understanding about what knowledge appears as valid in PE in the perspective of other subjects. Method: This paper is a sort of plan for doing study. The conceptual framework for this study is curriculum theory, inspired by Bernstein’s (2000) theoretical work on the social construction of knowledge. The focus is on selection processes of knowledge in the educational system. According to Bernstein, education is a field where there is a struggle between interests and actors competing to define the field but also arguing about what knowledge is to be counted as legitimate. For this study I will use different empirical material. The first material comprises teacher education programs for elementary teachers which were developed by government in 2005 and subject descriptions from eight departments of teacher education as well as various policy documents for the subject in the compulsory school. The second material contains interviews with actors who have influence over how the subject is formulated for the teacher education program as well as for the compulsory school. As a basis for comparison and analysis, material from four different teacher education programs and school subjects will be gathered. The subjects include PE, Music, Korean and Mathematics. The selection is based on the different traditions that these subjects represent. (Expected) Results: The result will contribute on the knowledge about similarities and dissimilarities according to what knowledge appears as valid in different subjects and how this is defined. Moreover, the result will provide knowledge about how different subjects relate to the primary field of production and how this relation is expressed in these subjects. The study is most likely to offer an understanding about the identity problem of the subject of PE in the perspective of what knowledge appears as legitimate in relation to other subjects, but also about the character of these different subjects as well as how they relate to the primary field of production Key words: Physical education as subject, identity of subject, teacher education program

      • On-Chip Debug를 이용한 Windows 환경의 Time-critical S/W Fault Injection Test

        Automobile’s convenient services and functions are increased recently. That cause increase of Software(S/W) size and S/W complexity. To keep safety and reliability from S/W fault, Fault Injection(FI) is used in S/W testing. Fault Injection Test(FIT) is performed with defect-caused conditions. However, in Automotive systems, Fault injection test is difficult to keep injection continuously and set fault conditions on intended timing. In this paper, Firstly, we address fault injection test method environment for AUTomotive Open System Architecture(AUTOSAR) platform. To keep fault injection, we proposed On-Chip Debug(OCD) in updating or overwriting fault values. Then, we address time-critical test methods and compare timing difference and accuracy between C/C++ time-measurement functions in Windows environment.
