      • Globalization of Korean Electrical Installations Standards and Codes Based on Comparison of IEC 60364 with NFPA 70(NEC)

        Most Technological laws of Korea are almost identical to those of Japan. Electricity was not introduced to Korea until lighting ceremony in Kyong-Bok palace observed in 1887. Since Korea was annexed to Japan in 1910, Korea have applied Japanese law and regulations made by Chosun government-general. And public works were under Japan control. Korea accepted adopted the power plants of America, codes of NESC, ASME / ANSI, MEMA while Japan accepted or adopted only IEC. Our generation distribution system takes American style while our consumer side takes Japanese style. As global trade system was transferred GATT into WTO, the technological standards, certification, construction and testing are in harmony internationally. The WTO / TBT agreement came in effect after 12th, April, 1979. The sections in the agreement require the members to exchange their own standards and codes for the harmonized ones by degree. The Korean distribution system has a strong resemblance to American system so that the internal engineers are confused in application of the relevant standards. IEC60364 and NEC are technologically similar but practically unconvertible because both have their different originality, that is to say Europe and USA. This paper deals with the fundamental elements of electrical safety system on review of IEC 60364 and NEC. This paper considers how engineers should apply IEC60364 and NFPA 70(NEC) based on all-the-way review of them.

        Most of the laws and standards relevant to technology in Korea bear a resemblance to those in Japan. Electricity was not introduced to Korea until Lighting ceremony in Kyong-Bok palace observed in 1887. Since Korea was annexed to Japan in 1910 and our public works were under Japan control we have applied Japanese laws and regulations made by Chosun government-general. Independently from Japan the power electricity accepted power plants of USA, codes of NESC, ASME / ANSI, NEMA. Our generation and distribution system takes American style while our consumer side takes Japanese style. As global trade system was transferred GATT into WTO, the harmonization of technological standards, certification construction testing in the trend of world. This paper is based on WTO / TBT agreement coming in effect after 12th, April, 1979. For Korea the distribution system has a strong resemblance to American system so that unconvertible because IEC 60364 originated from Europe while NEC originated from USA. This papers deals with the fundamental elements of electrical safety system with comparing IEC 60364 with NEC. This paper considers how engineers should apply NFPA 70(NEC) and IEC based on the comparison of NEC to IEC in relation to electrical installations.

      • 반회분 공정에 의한 실리카 미립자의 생성

        기존의 회분식 반응을 통한 실리카 미립자 생성의 한계성을 극복하기 위하여 반회분 공정을 이용하여 Ethyl Silicate(TEOS)의 가수분해 로부터 실리카 미립자를 제조 하였다. 그 결과 생성된 실리카 미립자는 반회분 공정에 의한 경우가 회분식 반응에 의한 것보다 단분산도, 입경, packing, 구형, 수율면 등에서 더 좋은 결과를 나타내었다. 특히, 수 미크론의 입자 크기를 갖는 단분산 실리카 미립자를 제조 하기에는 반회분 공정이 매우 효과적인 방법임을 알 수 있었다. Silica fine particles were produced from the hydrolysis of Si(OC2H5)4 by using semi-batch process in order to overcome difficulties for a production of fine particles by a batchwise reaction. The SiO2 fine particles obtained using semi-batch process were better than those using batch process in size distribution, packing, mean size, yield, and sphericity. Especially, it was found that semi-batch process was a successful method of controlling the size, i.e., a narrow distribution of a particle size which ranges to several microns.

        흰쥐 대퇴 동맥 미세 문합후 수축력의 변화

        During the microvascular operation, vasospasm can be disastrous because it may cause necrosis of the flap. But we could not fully understand the pathophysiology of contraction of operated vessels. We performed microvascular anastomosis of the femoral artery in the rats and decided the maximum initia tension and intensity of electrical stimulus. At the site of operation, postoperative 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 7th days, we took the samples of vessels including microvascular anastomotic site. Using myometry, we observed the responses of the samples responding to the stimuli and compared the results to that of the other unoperated femoral artery. The contractibility of the artery was increased in the first day and remained continuously until the postoperative 7th days.

      • γ-Fe_2O_3 의 製造 및 磁氣特性

        In case of the γ-Fe_2O_3 preparation, pH of the Fe(OH)_2 solution and oxidation temperature of the FeO(OH) which was influenced on the magnetic properties of the γ-Fe_2O_3 has been investigated. The magnetic properties of these samples were measured with self-made magnetic hysteresis loop tracer. The formation of compound γ-Fe_2O_3 has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction. It was obtained that the preparing conditions of γ-Fe_2O_3 were about pH 10 of Fe(OH)_2 solution and oxidation temperature 300℃ of FeO(OH). The purity of this sample was obtained about 95%. The saturation magnetization(Ms) and the coecive force (Hc) are found to be varied with pH and oxidation temperature, and the maximum value of Ms, 68 emu/gr, and of Hc, 140 Oe, are obtained at pH 10 and oxidation temperature 300℃.

      • 컴퓨터를 이용한 혈액학 교육시스템의 개발

        연구목적 : 전통적인 의학교육 시스템은 최근 개발되고 있는 여러 가지 영상 진단법 등 시각적 자료를 전달하는데 한계가 있으며, 이러한 한계는 모든 분야에 걸쳐서 나타나지만 특히 혈액학이나 심장학 등 시각적인 자료가 진단에 필수적인 분양에서 두드러진다고 할 수 있다.본 연구는 혈액학 교육에 사용되던 기존의 강의실 교육에 시각적 자료가 첨부된 CD-ROM을 개발하여 혈액학 교육 시스템을 개선하기 위한 것이다. 대상 및 방법 : 기존의 혈액학 교육에 있어서 필수적으로 강의 되어오던 자료를 수집하여 체계적으로 정리하였다.강의 자료에 따라서 필요한 영상 자료를 충북대학교 병원에 입원한 혈액질환 환자들의 검사 자료로부터 수집하여 컴퓨터를 기반으로 한 의학영상 처리 및 분석시스템을 통하여 이미지 파일로 변형하였다.또한 입원 환자들 중 대표적인 증례들을 수집하여 실제 임상 진료와 유사한 형태의 증례를 통한 학습을 할 수 있도록 하였다. 결과: 본 CD-ROM은 혈액학 교육에 필요한 대부분의 영역을 포함한다 각 질환의 병태생리, 진단, 임상양상, 치료 및 예후 등 전통적으로 강의되어 오던 강의록에 이미지 파일로 변형된 영상 자료를 필요한 곳마다 링크시켰다.따라서 학습자는 특별한 장치 없이 텍스트 및 영상을 한 화면에서 볼 수 있어 전통적인 교육 시스템에 비하여 시,공간적인 장점을 갖는다 할 수 있다.또한 입원 환자들로부터 수집된 증례를 통하여 실제 임상 진료와 매우 유사한 경험을 하도록하여 교육효과를 증대시켰다. 결론: 혈액학 교육에 있어서 멀티미디어적 효과를 극대화시켜 질환의 병태생리 등 강의실 교육자료뿐 아니라 진단에 필수적인 시각적 자료를 손쉽게 접할 수 있는 CD-ROM의 개발로 전통적인 강의방법이 갖는 한계를 개선시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. Purpose : The traditional medical education system has its limitations in effectiveness of conveying informations in multiple modalities used in diagnosis of patients with hematologic diseases.This study was performed to develop such a multimedia system using computer based CD-ROM, which includes visual assistant systems, several hematological case studies as well as the traditional text-wise education systems. Materials and Methods: The informations about hematologic diseases were compiled and organized.The main visual data was peripheral blood smears, bone marrow data, and several laboratory results accrued from patients admitted to Chungbuk National University Hospital.Each visual data were transformed through computer-based medical image processing and analyzing system and saved as to JPEG files.Case studies were also acquired from admitted patients and the laboratory data of that patients were used unmodified as possible as. Results : The CD-ROM covers almost all kinds of hematologic diseases that must be included in ordinary medical education courses.The text part includes pathophysiology, diagnosis, clinical features, treatment and prognosis of each hematologic diseases.The essential visual data were linked to each text part and accessible with ease, by one click.Case studies were simulated to actual clinical settings and presented step by step from diagnoses to treatments. Conclusion: A multimedia approach for the study of hematologic diseases has been developed and available in CO-ROM format.This system has advantage over traditional education system in conveying all kinds of visual data which is essential in educating hematologic disorders.

        Debussy와 印象主義 : An Aesthetic Wiew of His Compositional Works 作品에 대한 美學的 小考

        The character of impressionism in music can briefly be expressed as emotional feeling with extreme refinement in which sensationalism is generated and carried out with consistency. One contextual problem in music lies in the confusion brought on by literary titles assigned to compositions which like those of the romantic period bear a resemblance. That is to say, the musical tones can exist in straight-forward descriptive figures; however, the narrative meanings or emotional expressions are not meant as a direct depiction, but rather as a suggestive presentation evoking a sensual purity. The world as depicted by Debussy is light and shadow, minutely-detailed shimmers of light and fragrance; as a whole, they arouse a spinning reptuous aura, neither excessive nor dynamically molded into large compositional constructs. In connection with Monet, Monet, Renoir, etc., the representatives of impressionist art painting and with Varlaine, ?? , etc., symbolism writers of a stylistic movement in poem composition, Debussy was part in the emergence of a new type of thought in music. The manner of this new thought in music in such that the essence is based on suggestion. The works of Debussy, in a stylistic manner which had not been seen formerly, bear marks of the composer's individuality and originality in seeking to attain the aim of imagery that conveys calmness and serenity. Among the compositional techniques innovatively employed include an abundant usage of parallel chordal harmony, Gergorian church modes, pentatonic whole-tone scale, etc. Moreover, the enhancement of desired tone-color was attained through ettective orchestration for his sensitive image-evoking compositional works. For Debussy, music can be thought of as a reflection of the external world in a variety of impression-like forms. The impression of the external world is not a sharp representation of reality; rather, the impression is more like an outline based on suggestive, non-blant blurs and shadings. With this artistic aesthetic and attitude of creative originality, former rules and principles of harmony and melody used in the previous period were banished in favor of new and distinctive compositional techniques which had been made under the name of the impressionistic school.

      • 제주도 목야지내 독초의 분포상황 및 그 성분에 관한 조사 연구

        We, investigators made a survey on the species, regional distribution and toxic chemical components of the poisonous plants in Cheju island from March to Nov. 1974. The results obtained were as follows : 1. If not all, 86 species(65 spp. of herbs(inbolvlng ergot), 21 spp. of shrubs) within 42 families of the poisonous plants distributed in this Cheju area were classified. 2. According to their regional distribution, 36 spp, were in wild, field, 34 spp. in jungle area, 21 spp. in inhabited region, 15 spp. in a region of seashore, 5 spp. in a mountainous area. 3. And according to their toxic chemical components or poisoning types, they were classified as 7 spp. of cyanogenetic plants, 8 spp. of photosensitization, 6 spp. of oxalate-producing plants, 3 spp. of producing a thiamine deficiency, 2 spp. of teratogenetic effect, 1 sp (ergot) of gangrene production and 59 spp. of the other activities. 4. Actually, the bracken fern(Pteridium nquilinum) is a most problematic poisonous plant in livestock, because it is so high in frequecy or in this Cheju island. But, of course, it will be a nonsense to despise lots of the other poisonous plants.

      • Benzyl Isothiocyanate Inhibits Prostate Cancer Development in the Transgenic Adenocarcinoma Mouse Prostate (TRAMP) Model, Which Is Associated with the Induction of Cell Cycle G1 Arrest

        <P>Benzyl isothiocyanate (BITC) is a hydrolysis product of glucotropaeolin, a compound found in cruciferous vegetables, and has been shown to have anti-tumor properties. In the present study, we investigated whether BITC inhibits the development of prostate cancer in the transgenic adenocarcinoma mouse prostate (TRAMP) mice. Five-week old, male TRAMP mice and their nontransgenic littermates were gavage-fed with 0, 5, or 10 mg/kg of BITC every day for 19 weeks. The weight of the genitourinary tract increased markedly in TRAMP mice and this increase was suppressed significantly by BITC feeding. H and E staining of the dorsolateral lobes of the prostate demonstrated that well-differentiated carcinoma (WDC) was a predominant feature in the TRAMP mice. The number of lobes with WDC was reduced by BITC feeding while that of lobes with prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia was increased. BITC feeding reduced the number of cells expressing Ki67 (a proliferation marker), cyclin A, cyclin D1, and cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK)2 in the prostatic tissue. <I>In vitro</I> cell culture results revealed that BITC decreased DNA synthesis, as well as CDK2 and CDK4 activity in TRAMP-C2 mouse prostate cancer cells. These results indicate that inhibition of cell cycle progression contributes to the inhibition of prostate cancer development in TRAMP mice treated with BITC.</P>
