Brucellosis is one of the most important zoonotic diseases that lead to a great amount of economic losses. Prevention and diagnosis are both necessary to eradicate this disease. The identification and evaluation of different antigens of Brucella spp. play a key role in the progress of diagnostic programs. In this study, we designed, produced, and evaluated a 24-kDa polypeptide containing antigenic epitopes of VirB2, 3, and 9 of Brucella abortus for use with the ELISA kit. The produced polypeptide is appropriate for diagnosing brucellosis in bovines by a laboratory diagnostic kit, with 100% sensitivity and 97.5% specificity.

"The free vibration of a circular plate with multiple perforations is analyzed by using the Rayleigh-Ritz method. Admissible functions are assumed to be separable functions of radial and tangential coordinates. Trigonometric functions are assumed in the circumferential direction. The radial shape functions are the boundary characteristic orthogonal polynomials generated following the Gram-Schmidt recurrence scheme. The assumed functions are used to estimate the kinetic and the potential energies of the plate depending on the number and the position of the perforations. The eigenvalues, representing the dimensionless natural frequencies, are compared with the results obtained using Bessel functions, where the exact solution is available. Moreover, the eigenvectors, which are the unknown coefficients of the Rayleigh-Ritz method, are used to present the mode shapes of the plate. To validate the analytical results of the plates with multiple perforations, experimental investigations are also performed. Two unique case studies that are not addressed in the existing literature are considered. The results of the Rayleigh-Ritz method are found to be in good agreement with those from the experiments. Although the method presented can be employed in the vibration analysis of plates with different boundary conditions and shapes of the perforations, circular perforations that are free on the edges are studied in this paper. The results are presented in terms of dimensionless frequencies and mode shapes."

This paper presents inverse dynamics equations for a 3-UPS mechanism using virtual work principle. This mechanism has three UPS legs connecting the base to a triangular platform. By changing the orientation of leg"s actuators a non-symmetric mechanism with a suitable workspace near the origin without any singularity is obtained. Direct and inverse kinematics Jacobian matrices of the mechanism are obtained by the Newton-Euler approach. Then the inverse dynamics problem is solved using the principle of virtual work, so that the force and torque of active actuators have been obtained by having external forces (force and torque) acted on the platform. Force analysis of the 3-UPS mechanism has been done in the whole workspace without any singularity. Studying several situations of the platform shows that the ranges of the magnitudes of the forces and torques of the active actuators in this mechanism are reasonable, and typical actuators can support them.

In this paper, Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) has been used to identify the dynamics of robots used in haptic and master slave devices in order to improve transparency. In haptic and master slave devices, transparency depends on some factors such as robot"s mass and inertia, gravitational forces and friction [1]. In such systems, mass and inertia of the robot has an undesirable effect on the system outputs, which should be neutralized for improved transparency. The main purpose of this paper introducting a method to neutralize the undesirable effects of mass and inertia of the robot. A recurrent multilayer perceptron (RMLP) is used in a way that the inputs and outputs of the neural network are, respectively, the outputs and inputs of the robot mechanism. Hence, the desired outputs of the mechanism can be given to the neural network as inputs and corresponding required inputs of the robot mechanism can be obtained from the network"s output. With this method it is possible to eliminate the undesired influence of mass and inertia on the robot dynamics. The results are compared with the simulations. This comparison shows the effectiveness of using recurrent neural network to achieve this goal.

Childhood sexual abuse (CSA) has somewhat affected the survivors’ mental health status, such as their psychological adjustment, and their personal, interpersonal, and social functioning. Novice counselors may face greater challenges when dealing with a client with CSA history as compared to experienced counselors. This case study aimed to understand the challenges faced by Malaysian counselors as they work with their clients with CSA and to comprehend the CSA clients’ narrative description regarding their lived experiences and challenges. Four themes emerged for challenges experienced by the counselor, namely: in-session counseling process skills, cognitive and emotional journey, diversity issues, and awareness of personal values. Themes that emerged from the lived experiences of CSA clients included counseling therapy, negative body image, fear of interpersonal relationships and thought and emotional distortion. The findings provided professional counselors a glimpse of such a process, including the competencies relied upon as well as the barriers identified by the counselors.

Purpose: Infection is one of the most frequent complications that can occur after ileostomy closure. The incidence of wound infection depends on the skin closure technique, but there is no agreement on the perfect closure method for an ileostomy wound. The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence of infection, the patient’s approval, and the patient’s pain between purse-string closure (PSC) and the usual linear closure (LC) of a stoma wound. Methods: This randomized clinical trial enrolled 66 patients who underwent a stoma closure from February 2015 to May 2015 in Sari Emam Khomeini Hospital. Patients were divided into 2 groups according to the stoma closing method: the PSC group (n = 34) and the LC group (n = 32). The incidences of infection for the 2 groups were compared, and the patients’ satisfaction and pain with the stoma were determined by using a questionnaire. Results: Infection occurred in 1 of 34 PSC patients (2.9%) and in 7 of 32 LC patients (21.8%), and this difference was statistically significant (P = 0.021). Patients in the PSC group were more satisfied with the resulting wound scar and its cosmetic appearance at one month and three months after surgery (P = 0.043). Conclusion: After stoma closure, PSC was associated with a significantly lower incidence of wound infection and greater patient satisfaction compared to LC. However, the healing period for patients who underwent PSC was longer than it was for those who underwent LC.

The ring opening of epoxides with elemental iodine and bromine in the presence of three diamine podands 7-9 as new catalysts affords vicinal iodo alcohols and bromo alcohols in high yields. This new procedure occurs regioselectively under neutral and mild conditions in various aprotic solvents even when sensitive functional groups are presented.
