        <8명의 주자를 위한 옥타곤>(Octagon for 8 Players)을 통하여 본 강석희의 고유한 작품세계와 비대칭성

        Sukhi Kang(1934-) is composer of the modern music who is well known for his sound aesthetics, which represents “Sukhi Kang’s sound.” He specially emphasizes the well counted musical form and structure, where emotional expression is completely ruled out. His controls upon the using tones are especially strict. There are no repetitions of special tones, such as the highest and lowest tone, as well as adjacent tones. That’s because these tones determinate the contour of the complete piece. Sukhi Kang places his concerns on the characteristics of individual pieces especially on their creativity and uniqueness. On the basis of his sound aesthetics this research of his recent piece titled <Octagon>(2012) for 8 players, commissioned by EIT(Ensemble Interactive Tokyo), focuses on the asymmetrical aspects, where his favorite numbers 2, 3, 4, 8, 12, 59 are mentioned. For the proof of the asymmetry, simple geometrical figures are used, such as two squares, one triangle and one pentagon to create an octagon.

Methods: We collated and reviewed previously conducted review studies on border closures during infectious disease outbreaks to derive relevant themes and factors. Results: According to our systematic review on border closures and travel restrictions, the effects of such containment efforts are limited. We suggest considering the following factors when determining whether to impose border closure measures: (1) disease characteristics, (2) timeliness of implementation, (3) transmission delay and the basic reproduction number, (4) globalization and pandemics, and (5) social and economic costs. Conclusions: Our assessment indicates that the effects of border closures are at best temporary and limited. Alternative measures must be contemplated and implemented to suppress the spread of COVID-19 in particular and infectious diseases more broadly.

        중년 직장여성의 일-가정 갈등이 삶의 의미에 미치는 영향: 사회적지지와 자기효능감의 매개효과를 중심으로

        본 연구는 다중역할을 수행하고 있는 중년 직장여성을 대상으로 일-가정 갈등, 사회적지지, 자기효능감, 삶의 의미 간의 관계를 파악하고자 하였다. 구체적으로 연구 대상자는 40세에서 60세 미만의 자녀가 있는 맞벌이 중년 직장여성들로서 총 202명의 자료가 최종 분석에 사용 되었다. 구조방정식 모형을 통해 자료를 분석하였는데, 분석결과 첫째, 중년 직장여성의 일-가정 갈등은 사회적지지, 자기효능감과 유의미한 관계를 맺고 있었으나, 삶의 의미와는 직접적인 유의미한 관계를 갖고 있지 않았다. 둘째, 사회적지지와 자기효능감은 일-가정 갈등과 삶의 의미 간의 관계에서 유의미한 완전매개효과를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 중년 직장여성이 다중역할 수행에서 삶의 의미를 찾도록 도와주기 위해서는 사회적지지와 자기효능감을 높여줄 필요가 있다. 연구결과를 토대로 교육과 상담에의 논의점 및 제안점을 제시하였다. The purpose of our study was to identify a structural relationship between the work-family conflict, social support, self-effectiveness and the meaning of life among married female workers who are performing multiple roles. The subjects were middle-aged married working mothers aged 40 to 60, they taked care of at least one child and worked more 10 hours in a week. The 202 data were analyzed using a structural equation model. The analysis results showed in the lives of middle-aged married female workers as follows. First, the work-family conflict had direct effects on social support and self-effectiveness significantly. And the work-family conflict had no significant direct effect but significant indirect effect on the meaning of life. Second, social support and self-effectiveness had complete mediation effects in relation between the work-family conflict and the meaning of life. Therefore, to find the meaning of life for middle-aged married female workers, it is necessary to enhance their social support and self-effectiveness. Based on the results of the study, we suggested the discussion for education and counseling.

        일본 강점기 1930년대에 이용도(1901-1933)가 전개한 부흥운동은 한국교회에 주목할 만한 영향을 미쳤다. 그는 비록 한국교회 현장에서 32세를 일기로 세상을 떠났지만 많은 학자들은 그의 신비주의를 한국개신교 역사에서 의미심장한 한 국면으로 숙고한다. 지금까지 주로 신비주의와 영성적 관점에서 그의 생애와 사상을 논한 논문들을 살펴보면 “고난의 그리스도 신비주의”(민경배), “사랑의 신비주의”(박봉배), “열정적 신비주의”(유동식), “열광적 신비주의”(박영관), “그리스도 신비주의”(변선환), “십자가 신비주의”(윤성범), “합일(合一) 신비주의”(안수강), “영적 영향”(김수천), “동양적 영성”(왕대일), “종교적 영성”(차옥숭), 그리고 “문화와 영성”(김상일) 등이 주요 주제로 다루어졌다. 본 연구에서는 이용도와 관련된 주요 문헌지와 연구동향을 고찰하려는 데 목적을 두며 다음과 같은 다양한 자료들을 살펴볼 것이다. 첫째, 이용도 관련 주요 자료들: 이용도 전집, 설교집, 생애, 예수교회 기관지, 김인서의 저작물, 「基督申報」 기사, 장로교 총회록 등. 둘째, 연구동향 관련 주요 자료들: 과거 학자들의 고전적 저작물, 학술단체의 단행본, 신학회지(神學會誌), 학술논문과 학위논문 등 The revival movement of Yong-Do Lee(1901-1933) which took place about the time of 1930s under a colonial policy of Japan, had a remarkable effect on the Korean church.         응집공정에 적합한 In-Line 정적혼화기를 이용한 혼화공정의 개선

        The rapid mixing process for coagulation is a critical component in a water treatment plant. However, at the present time a detailed understanding of the rapid mixing by in-line mixer or generally accepted criteria for the design of in-line static mixer are not available. The aim of this work is therefore to improve the understanding of how the in-line static mixer works and how to better utilize it in coagulation process in water treatment. To investigate the performance of static mixer, coagulation experiments were conducted to compare the static mixer to the traditional backmixer under several coagulation conditions. Experiments were also performed to compare the coagulation efficiency of different mixing type of static mixer which were made using different flow rates and the number of elements equipped in a pipe. The static mixer performed better than the backmixer for all coagulation and mixing conditions tested. Especially, the static mixer was very effective in the surface charge neutralization, as showing higher reduction of negative charge with increasing mixing intensity. However, little difference was observed in the performance of the static mixer equipped with 2, 3, and 5 elements. Also, in a series of bench-scale studies of rapid mixing, the in-line static mixer performed better than the traditional backmixer for both adsorption and charge neutralization (A/N) mechanism and sweep coagulation mechanisms. Especially, the static mixer was more efficient at producing A/N mechanism conditions as a result of its fast and uniform dispersion of the coagulant.

        Sulfonylurea Herbicide Resistance Mechanism of Some Acetohydroxy Acid Synthase Mutants and New Designed Herbicides Specific to the Mutants

        The mutation rate of proline in the position 197 (Pro197) in acetohydroxy acid synthase (AHAS) is highest among sulfonylurea (SU) herbicide-resistance mutants. Therefore, it is significant to investigate the resistance mechanism for the mutation and to develop the herbicides specific to the mutants. SU herbicide resistance mechanism of the mutants, 197Ser, 197Thr and 197Ala, in AHAS were targeted for designing new SU-herbicide. We did molecular dynamics (MD) simulation for understanding SU herbicide-resistance mechanisms of AHAS mutants and designed new herbicides with docking and MD evaluations. We have found that mutation to 197Ala and 197Ser enlarged the entrance of the active site, while 197Thr contracted. Map of the root mean square derivation (RMSD) and radius gyrations (Rg) revealed the domain indicating the conformations for herbicide resistant. Based on the enlarging-contracting mechanism of active site entrance, we designed new herbicides with substitution at the heterocyclic moiety of a SU herbicide for the complementary binding to the changed active site entrances of mutants, and designed new herbicides. We confirmed that our screened new herbicides bonded to both AHAS wild type and mutants with higher affinity, showing more stable binding conformation than the existing herbicides.

        Wireless pressure sensor integrated with a 3D printed polymer stent for smart health monitoring

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The primary objective of this study was to deploy a promising wireless pressure sensor system capable of monitoring real-time biological signals in an experimental object. MEMS-based micromachining technology was used to fabricate the proposed SU-8 wireless pressure sensor. The sensor utilizes a capacitor-inductor resonant circuit that can operate the sensor without any external power supply. The variable capacitor in the pressure sensor is designed to change the resonance frequency (130, 183 MHz) in response to applied pressure. The fabricated wireless pressure sensor was integrated into a polymer-based smart stent to minimize the discomfort of medication administration and hospital visits. A 3D bio-printing-based manufacturing technique was employed for the production of a smart polymer stent with complicated shapes. The proposed method is considerably more comfortable than the conventional metal stents fabrication process. The polymer smart stent made of the biocompatible polycaprolactone (PCL) material which can be fully absorbed by the body after a medication period. After integrating the fabricated wireless pressure sensor with the polymer smart stent, various basic experiments such as the working distance of the sensor were performed using a simple experimental setup. The biocompatibility of the proposed polymer stent and the wireless pressure sensor was also successfully confirmed using an experimental animal.         연부조직육종의 수술후 방사선 치료결과

        목 적 : 최근들어 연부 조직 육종의 치료방법이 광범위 구획절제에서 사지기능을 보존하는 제한적 수술과 방사선/항암화학요법의 다병용치료로 변환되고 있으며 광범위 수술과 유사한 치료성적을 거두고 있다. 저자들은 수술후 방사선 치료를 시행한 연부 조직 육종 환자를 대상으로 치료 결과 및 실패 양상을 알아보고 관련된 예후 인자를 분석하여 수술 후 방사선치료의 역할을 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 대상환자는 1983년부터 1994년까지 치료한 60명이었고 모두 추적관찰이 가능했으며 평균 추적기간은 50개월이었다. 원발병소는 상·하지가 35례(58%)로 가장 많았고 체간 12례(20%), 두경부 7례(12%)였으며 병리학적 유형에 따른 구분은 악성섬유구종 14례(23%),지방육종이 10례(17%), 악성신경섬유종 7례(12%) 등 이었다. 전체환자중 6례를 제외하고는 조직학적등급의 분석이 가능했고 grade I, II, III가 각각 27례(45%), 3례(5%), 24례(40%)였다. 수술적 절제는 19례(32%)에서 광범위절제, 36례(60%)에서 변연절제, 5례(8%)에서 국소절제를 시행하였다. 방사선치료선량은 28.8- 80Gy였고 25례에서 방사선치료와 함께 항암화학 요법을 병용하였다. 결 과 : 최종분석 시 실패 양상은 국소재발이 20례(25%), 원격전이 7례(12%), 국소재발과 원격전이를 동반한 경우가 14례(23%)였다. 원격전이한 환자는 구제치료와 상관 없이 모두 사망하였고 국소재발한 환자중 5명이 구제치료에 성공하여 무병생존하였다. 전체환자의 2년 및 5년 국소제어률은 68.0%와 48.7%로 비교적 저조한 결과를 보였다. 국소제어율에 영향을 미친 예후인자는 조직학적 유형, AJCC 병기, 조직학적 등급, 수술의 범위, 수술절연 침범 유무 및 잔존종양 정도, 림프절 전이 유무(p <0.05)였다. 전체 환자의 5년 생존률과 5년 무병생존률은 각각 60.4%, 36.6%였고 평균 생존기간은 89개월이었다. 단변량 분석에 의한 생존률에 영향을 미친 예후인자로는 조직학적 유형, AJCC 병기, 림프절 전이 유무, 조직학적 등급, 수술절연 침범 유무와 잔존 종양 정도 였다. 결 론 : 결론적으로 본 연구 결과 연부 조직 육종에서 제한적 수술과 수술 후 방사선치료로 비록 저조한 국소제어률을 보였으나 사지 절단 혹은 광범위 구획절제와 비교시 유사한 생존률을 얻었다. Purpose : The major goal of the therapy in the soft tissue sarcoma is to control both local and distant tumor. However, the technique of obtaining local control has changed significantly over the past few decades from more aggressive surgery to combined therapy including conservative surgery and radiation and/or chemotherapy. We retrospectively analyzed the treatment results of the postoperative radiation therapy of soft tissue sarcoma and its prognostic factor. Materials and Methods : Between March 1983 and June 1994, 60 patients with soft tissue sarcoma were treated with surgery and postoperative radiation therapy at Kang-Nam St. Mary's hospital. Complete follow up was possible for all patints with median follow up duration 50 months (range 6 - 162 months). There were 28 male and 32 female patients. Their age ranged from 6 to 83 with a median of 44 years. Extremity (58%) was the most frequent site of occurrence followed by trunk (20%) and head and neck (12%). Histologically malignant fibrous histiocytoma (23%), liposarcoma (17%), malignant schwannoma (12%) constitute 52% of the patients. Daily radiation therapy designed to treat all areas at a risk for tumor spread upto dose of 4500-5000 cGy. A shrinking field technique was then used and total 55-65 Gy was delivered to tumor bed. Twenty-five patients (42%) received chemotherapy with various regimen in the postoperative period. Results : Total 4 1 patients failed either with local recurrence or with distant metastasis. There were 29 patients(48%) of local recurrence. Four patients (7%) developed simultaneous local recurrence and distant metastasis and 8 patients (13%) developed only distant metastasis. Local recurrence rate was rather higher than of other reported series. This study included patients of gross residual, recurrent cases after previous operation, trunk and head and neck prima ry. This feature is like ly explanation for the decreased loca l control rate . Five of 29 patients who fa iled only loca lly were salvaged by re- excis ion and/or re- irradiation and rema ined free of disease . Factors affecting loca l control include histologic type , grade, stage , extent of operation and surgica l ma rgin involvement, lymph node metastas is (p <0.05). All 21 patients who fa iled distantly are dead with progress ive disease at the time of this report. Our overall survival results are similar to those of larger series . Actuarial 5 year overall survival and disease fresurvival were 60.4 %, 36.6% respectively. Grade, stage (being close association with grade), residual disease (negative ma rgin, microscopic, gross) were significant as a predictor of survival in our series (p <0.05). Conclusion : Combined surgery and postoperative radiation therapy obtained 5 year survival rate comparable to that of radical surgery.
