The bioactive secondary metabolites produced by sea cucumbers are very diverse with differences in composition, linkages, molecular weight, and various functional properties. Due to their physicochemical properties, these bioactive molecules in sea cucumbers have found applications in various market segments such as functional foods and cosmetics. Sea cucumber side dishes are a prominent food item in traditional cuisine in East Asian countries such as South Korea, China, and Japan. In addition, many studies have reported that the consumption of sea cucumbers can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, the pathogenesis of cancer cells, chronic inflammatory diseases, etc. In particular, many studies have recently reported the potential of sea cucumbers to develop functional products to reduce inflammation, oxidative stress, diabetes, and cancer. Additionally, these bioactive properties associated with sea cucumbers make them ideal compounds for use as functional ingredients in functional food products. However, no report has yet reviewed the properties of sea cucumbers related to functional foods. Therefore, in this review, the primary focus is given to collecting published scientific data (from 2019 to 2023) on the bioactive properties of sea cucumbers relevant to the functional food industry.

Two common gastrointestinal cancers, namely, gastric and colorectal cancers, cause high mortality and morbidity. The development of gastrointestinal cancers usually follows stepwise processes with recognizable pre-neoplastic changes. A class of noncoding RNA known as microRNA (miRNA) is increasingly recognized to play pleiotropic functions in the multistep development of gastrointestinal cancers. Abnormal patterns of miRNA expression in gastric and colorectal cancers have been widely reported. These dysregulated miRNAs function as novel proto-oncogenes and tumor-suppressor genes by controlling cellular malignant phenotypes, including unchecked cell proliferation, resistance to apoptosis, enhanced invasiveness and metastasis, and angiogenesis. Moreover, certain polymorphisms in miRNA genes or miRNA-binding sites are associated with disease risks whereas detection of circulating or fecal miRNAs may facilitate early diagnosis. The prognostic functions of a number of dysregulated miRNAs in gastrointestinal cancers have also been established. Delineating the pathophysiological basis of miRNA dysregulation will further our understanding of the pathogenesis of these two potentially fatal diseases. Such efforts will also result in the development of miRNA-based biomarkers and therapeutics for the risk stratification, diagnosis, prognostication, and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers. 과거 2회의 인공임신중절술을 받았던 정상분만예에 있어서 분만제3기에 유착태반이란 진단하에 용수박리술을 시행하였으나 태반만출불능으로 자궁전척출술을 시행한 1예를 보고하는 바이다. Placenta accreta is a rare but serious disease in Ob. fields. A case of placenta accreta which was cured by abdominal hysterectomy is presented. And a brief review of the literature is made.

Chorioangioma is a relatively rare tumor of the placenta, although the incidence varies widely in different among the reporters. This tumor is benign and usually of small size, but frequently associated with hydramnios and premature delivery causing high percentage of perinatal death. In this paper a case of haemangioma of placenta with hydroamnios and premature delivery in 30 years old woman is reported, and the literature on the chorioangioma is reviewed briefly.

Granulosa cell tumor is a very rare tumor of the ovary. In this paper a 41 case of granulosa cell tumor of left ovary in a yerars old woman is reported, and the literatures on the granulosa cell tumor of the ovary is reviewed vriefly.

1986년 2월1일부터 1987년 1월31일까지 조기파수산모 73명을 대상으로 초음파를 사용하여 태아호흡운동을 관찰하여 다음과 같은 결론은 얻었다. 1. 감염군에서 태아호흡운동의 부재는 20명중 18명으로 감수성은 90.0%이다. 2. 비감염군에서 태아호흡운동의 존재는 53명중 34명으로 특이성은 64.2%이다. 3. 산모 73명중 태아호흡운동 부재는 37명이고 감염군에서는 20명중 18명으로 양성기대치는 48.6%이다. 4. 산모 73명중 태아호흡운동 존재는 36명이고 비감염군에서는 53명중 34명으로 음성기대치 는 94.4%이다. 이상과 같이 태아호흡운동 감지는 조기파수의 산모를 임상적으로 처치하는데 있어 결과를 향상시키는 비침투적이며 간결하고 확실한 진단법으로 사료된다. The antepartum fetal surveillance of patients with premature rupture of the membrane has not been accuratly defined. In the present study we examined the 73 patients with premature rupture of the membrane from Feb. 1986 to Jan.1978 The sensitivity and specificity of fetal breathing in predicting infection in patients with premature rupture of the membrane were 90.0% and 64.2% respectively. Presence of fetal breathing is a good predictor of noninfection outcome.
