Objective: The goal of this study was to determine if patients with mild scoliosis and ageappropriate sagittal alignment have favorable outcomes following surgical correction. Methods: Retrospective review of a prospective, multicenter adult spinal deformity database. Inclusion criteria: operative patients age ≥18 years, and preoperative pelvic tilt, mismatch between pelvic incidence and lumbar lordosis (PI–LL), and C7 sagittal vertical axis all within established age-adjusted thresholds with minimum 2-year follow-up. Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) scores: Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), 36-item Short Form health survey (SF-36), Scoliosis Research Society-22R (SRS22R), back/leg pain Numerical Rating Scale and minimum clinically important difference (MCID)/substantial clinical benefit (SCB). Two-year and preoperative HRQoL radiographic data were compared. Patients with mild scoliosis (Mild Scoli, Max coronal Cobb 10°–30°) were compared to those with larger curves (Scoli). Results: One hundred fifty-one patients included from 667 operative patients (82.8% women; average age, 56.4 ± 16.2 years). Forty-two patients (27.8%) included in Mild Scoli group. Mild Scoli group had significantly worse baseline leg pain, ODI, and physical composite scores (p < 0.02). Mean 2-year maximum coronal Cobb angle was significantly improved compared to baseline (p < 0.001). All 2-year HRQoL measures were significantly improved compared to (p < 0.001) except mental composite score, SRS activity and SRS mental for the Mild Scoli group (p > 0.05). From the mild Scoli group, 36%–74% met either MCID or SCB for the HRQoL measures. Sixty-four point three percent had minimum 1 complication, 28.6% had a major complication, 35.7% had reoperation. Conclusion: Mild scoliosis patients with age-appropriate sagittal alignment benefit from surgical correction, decompression, and stabilization at 2 years postoperative despite having a high complication rate.

The Cr and Cr/AlxOy thin flms were deposited by DC sputtering onto soda lime glass and polished Al substrates at various deposition temperatures. The structural analysis of the multilayered coatings revealed a weak XRD difraction peak at 2θ ≈ 43.3° ascribed to (110) plane of BCC structure of Cr metal. No phase of AlxOy was detected most likely due to the amorphous nature of the flms. SEM and AFM analysis demonstrated the skewed distribution of small particles with an average surface roughness ranging between 4.0 and 13 nm. The optical analysis of the flms revealed an increase in the steepness of the refectance curve along the transition/plasma wavelength and blue shifting of this wavelength with the increase in substrate temperature. Also, a decrease in refectance was observed upon employment of AlxOy antirefection coating as a result of shifting the transition wavelength toward longer wavelengths. These results suggest that substrate temperature and AlxOy antirefection coating are potential for improving the optical properties of Cr flms for selective solar absorbers applications.

Privacy of personal information is an area of growing concern and importance. The heart of the conflict is between commercial value and respect for an individual’s right to privacy. This tradeoff is of economic value and the issue of privacy is an economic problem that justifies the emergence of the economics of privacy as an important discipline, combining efforts of regulation, technology, and business efficiency. In this survey paper, we look into work done by eminent researchers on the economic aspects of privacy and privacy’s relationship with people, technology, and regulation.
Shared Ends: Kant and Dai Zhen on the Ethical Value of Mutually Fulfilling Relationships
( Justin Tiwald ) 성균관대학교 유교문화연구소 2020 儒敎文化硏究(中文版) Vol.0 No.33
This paper offers an account of an important type of human relationship: relationships based on shared ends. These are an indispensable part of most ethically worthy or valuable lives, and our successes or failures at participating in these relationships constitute a great number of our moral successes or failures overall. While many philosophers agree about their importance, few provide us with well-developed accounts of the nature and value of good shared-end relationships. This paper begins to develop a positive account of such relationships. In the interest of highlighting some strengths and weaknesses of competing approaches, it contrasts the theories that are proposed by the Confucian philosopher Dai Zhen 戴震 (1724-1777) and the influential moral philosopher Immanuel Kant (1724-1804). Both philosophers share many of the same core ethical commitments, but as the author shows, Dai Zhen’s approach to thinking about the nature and value of good shared-end relationships is superior to Kant’s because it highlights the fact that such relationships must be motivated by ethically-shaped forms of other-concern and self-interest, whereas Kant does not picture self-interest as an important source of morality or ethically valuable relationships. The author considers clarifications and revisions to Kant’s theory that seem to make more room for the mixture of motives required for good shared-end relationships, but concludes that these ad hoc modifications do not succeed at providing a recognizably Kantian theory that can account for them as well as Dai Zhen’s.
Reform and Development in China: A New Institutional Economics Perspective
Justin Yifu Lin,Yingyi Tsai 서울대학교 경제연구소 2004 Seoul journal of economics Vol.17 No.3
The success of China's approach to transition has produced many challenges to the conventional wisdom in economic theory. The transition in essence is a process of institutional changes from those of a planned economy to those of a market economy. In the paper we argue that the economic institutions of the planned economy are endogenously shaped by the adoption of a comparative advantage-defying (hereafter CAD strategy) heavy industry-oriented development strategy in a capital scarce economy. It is. Hence, suggested the completion of China's transition to a market economy, which requires the elimination of institutional distortions in the planned economy, depends on final resolution of viability issue of enterprises in CADs priority sectors.
Forecasting Methods on PV System Outputs for Microgrid Operation
Justin Migo Dolot(저스틴 미고 돌롯),Marlon Capuno(말론 카푸노),Hwachang Song(송화창) 대한전기학회 2021 대한전기학회 학술대회 논문집 Vol.2021 No.10
In view of the shift to renewable energy sources, several entities are investing in solar photovoltaic (PV) sources, energy storage systems (ESS), and energy management systems (EMS) to minimize operation costs. Several published works have proven that optimal ESS scheduling will help minimize the costs incurred. To do that, effective PV forecasting methods should be used. This paper explored different data driven PV forecasting methods so that it can be applied to Seoul National University of Science and Technology’s (SeoulTech) locally implemented microgrid. The objective is to forecast the PV profiles of the local microgrid so that depending on the forecast horizon and purpose, whether day-ahead market participation, short-term response, or system protection, it can schedule the PV and ESS effectively.
