Life history responses of the cabbage beetle Colaphellus bowringi to temperature change
Jian‐Jun Tang,Hai-Min HE,Ting GENG,Shu FU,Fang-Sen XUE 한국곤충학회 2016 Entomological Research Vol.46 No.6
Temperature is considered one of the most important mediators of phenotypic plasticity in ectotherms. Here, we investigated life history traits of the cabbage beetle, Colaphellus bowringi Baly (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae), at a wide range of temperatures (16, 19, 22, 24, 26 and 28°C). The larval and pupal times were significantly decreased with increasing rearing temperature and growth rate was positively correlated with temperature. However, the relationship between body size and rearing temperature in C. bowringi did not follow the temperature–size rule; both males and females reached the highest body weight at 19°C. Females were significantly larger than males at all temperatures. Male pupae lost significantly more weight at metamorphosis compared to females. However, diapausing males gained significantly higher weight after feeding compared to diapausing females at higher temperatures of 22, 24, 26 and 28°C. Body weight tended to decrease with increasing rearing temperature, whereas sexual size dimorphism (SSD) tended to increase with increasing rearing temperature; thus, Rensch's rule is upheld. The degree to which SSD changed with temperature varied with different development stages. SSD was lowest in pupae, highest in newly emerged adults and intermediate in diapausing adults.
Health-related Quality of Life After Treatment for Malignant Bone Tumors: A Follow-up Study in China
Sun, Yong-Jian,Hu, Yan-Jun,Jin, Dan,Li, Jian-Wei,Yu, Bin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.7
Aim: We conducted the present study to assess health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among bone cancer patients after surgical treatment in one large teaching hospitals in China, and assess the risk factors for improving the physical or mental HRQoL. Methods: 344 eligible adult patients who were admitted to the hospital with malignant bone tumors during the period of Jun. 2008 to Dec. 2011, and a reference group with 361 health cases was recruited in the same hospital during the same period. All 344 patients were followed up for one year. The HRQoL before treatment and after one year was evaluated with the Medical Outcome Short Form 36 (SF-36). Results: All 8 domains of HRQoL had the lowest scores greatly improved over the first year after discharge. However, the patients still had significantly lower scores in every domain than the reference group one year after discharge. Age and type of surgery were associated with HRQoL in the mental domain. Conclusion: The HRQoL of patients with malignant bone tumors greatly improved one year after the treatment. This study also highlighted the utility of HRQoL assessment for prognostic evaluation of patients after surgical treatment for bone cancer.

cess of the high-order structures in biomaterials. Real-time Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and optical microscopy demon-strated that helical segments formed along with the spherulite growth. Atomic force microscopy revealed the details of growth, twisting and branching of lamellar crystals. Cooperative packing of these twisting lamellae led to regular banded spherulites observedunder polarized light microscopy. Real-time observation on the crystallization process provided richer information than the characterization of the final structures; consequently, it provides deeper insight into the organization mechanism of the hierarchical structures.

System Analysis of Potential Accidents on Mountain Road Based on Rough Set and Quantitative Theory
Jian Jun Wang,Xu Dong Cao 대한토목학회 2021 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.25 No.3
Although the number of traffic accidents in China has been declining year by year, the proportion of major traffic accidents in mountainous areas has continued to rise, reaching 60% in recent years. This shows that a mountain road safety system has not been effectively established. The majority of the methods used in mountain road safety assessments are statistical analysis methods based on accident causation theory. However, these expert methods greatly depend on massive amounts of traffic environmental data, which are very difficult and time-consuming to obtain. This study had the goal of reducing the environmental monitoring data required for this assessment and increasing analysis efficiency. Based on the research of road traffic accident data and traffic flow characteristics in mountainous areas, an attribute reduction algorithm was developed to weigh the significance of the data and construct a systemic analysis mothed. The proposed risk analysis model, which considers the accidents, roadside environment, and traffic safety facilities, is based on Shaanxi province data. The results from the actual implementation of this model indicate that the approach has good operability and holds great promise for mountain road safety assessment.
Differences in strategies of upward influence
Jun- Jian Li,Hong-Yan Zhao,Jong-Wook Kwon 한국무역연구원 2012 무역연구 Vol.8 No.4
With China becoming as a major player on the international business scene, it is becoming more essential for Western businesses to understand the work values and people's upward influence behaviors in this large and regionally diverse country. Thus, the focus of this study is identifying upward influence behavior differences among the 6 regions of China. In the process of comparing their differences, we identify region-clusters based on the infrastructure characteristics and different work values of the regions. What we have found indicates that work values are of great importance in explaining the ethical perceptions of upward influence behavior.
Research on the Inter-harmonics Equivalent Impedance of Series Hybrid Active Power Filter
Jian-gong, Zhang,Jian-ben, Liu,Shao-jun, Dai,Qiao-fu, Chen,Jun-jia, He The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2015 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.10 No.5
In the series hybrid active power filter (SHAPF) with magnetic flux compensation (MFC), the system current oscillate in the experimental results when adding the same phase harmonic current command in current control block. This condition endangers the security of the SHAPF. Taking the digit period average arithmetic as example, this paper explains the inter-harmonics current oscillation in the experiment. The conclusion is that the SHAPF is unstable to the inter-harmonics current in theory. Limited by the capacity of the inverter, the system current and the inverter output current do not increase to infinite. At last, some methods are proposed to solve this problem. From the practical viewpoint, the voltage feed-forward control is easy to achieve. It can suppress the current oscillation problems, and also improve the filtering effect. The feasibility of the methods is validated by both the emulation and experiment results.

The effects of the maceration enzymes on the evolution of 4-vinylphenols pyranoanthocyanins and cinnamic acids were investigated during the Cabernet Gernischet red wine making. The results showed that the contents of p-coumaric acid and caffeic acid in the maceration enzyme-treated wine (the treated wine) were higher than those in the maceration enzyme-untreated wine (the control wine) at the alcoholic fermentation (AF),maceration (M), and malolactic fermention (MLF) stages. Malvidin-3-O-glucoside-4-vinylphenol (Mv-glu-vp) and malvidin-3-O-(6-O-acetyl)-glucoside-4-vinylphenol (Mvacet-glu-vp) were formed at the AF and M stages in the treated wine, while they were formed at the end of MLF stage in the control wine. However, the contents of these 2kinds of 4-vinylphenol pyranoanthocyanins in the control wine were higher than those in the treated wine during aging. These results showed that the use of maceration enzymes in winemaking can promote p-coumaric acid and p-caffeic acid transformed to vinylphenols and accelerate the formation of pyranoanthocyanins.
